Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 525 - 275: Elimination of Negative Press (2)
Lisa Cecily was also left speechless by Jason Wood.
The office suddenly shifted from the sound of argument to quiet.
The next second, a sudden vibration of a cellphone pierced the calm of the office.
It was Howard Geoffrey’s phone.
Lisa Cecily picked up the phone from the desk and walked towards Howard Geoffrey, saying, "It’s Roye."
On Howard Geoffrey’s calm face, no emotions could be detected as he took the phone and directly pressed the call button.
Lisa Cecily quietly retreated to the side.
Roye naturally reported to Howard Geoffrey about Rebecca Quentin. Howard Geoffrey listened without responding until the call ended.
"President, Miss Quentin was in a good mood after the call with you. She hadn’t eaten all day but just ordered takeout..."
Roye’s report continuously buzzed in Howard Geoffrey’s ear during the call.
Howard Geoffrey sat behind the office desk, his brows slightly furrowed as he stared unblinking at the transparent crystal ball spinning on the desk.
Jason Wood and Lisa Cecily still stood not far from Howard Geoffrey, knowing their boss was thinking deeply and dared not interrupt.
Suddenly, Howard Geoffrey’s calm voice came, "Jason Wood."
"Yes."
Jason Wood moved quickly to stand in front of Howard Geoffrey.
"When does the press conference start?"
"At eight sharp."
Howard Geoffrey glanced at the watch on his wrist; the hour hand was almost pointing to eight, and he asked lightly, "Has her call to me been handled?"
Jason Wood nodded, "There will be no record of this call on the ’QCS’ side."
"Good, do something for me."
Half an hour later, at Chester Robinson’s residence in New York.
In his dining room, Chester Robinson was leisurely enjoying dinner.
His mood matched the elegance and calmness of cutting the steak at hand.
Suddenly, his phone rang from the dining table.
Chester Robinson set down his utensils, picked up the phone, and glanced at it before pressing the answer button, "What’s up?"
Keith Antony on the other end of the phone said, "I’ve got news on what you’ve been asking me to investigate."
Chester Robinson immediately sat upright, "Speak quickly."
"My subordinate found the kindergarten principal who moved to Vancouver back then. She clearly remembers that there were no mixed-race children at her kindergarten, let alone a girl with the Chinese name ’Alice’."
"QCS" Headquarters.
Manager Smith supported Rebecca Quentin, whispering words of comfort, "Don’t worry, things won’t be as bad as imagined."
Having finished her meal, Rebecca Quentin looked visibly better than in the afternoon, and she smiled and nodded to Manager Smith.
Manager Smith had always worried for Rebecca Quentin, but seeing her calm composure now, his anxious mind eased somewhat.
She had called Chester Robinson for help, but his phone had been unreachable, and she feared he would blame her for failing to protect Rebecca Quentin.
Manager Smith accompanied Rebecca Quentin into the elevator, advising, "Remember to respond carefully to the reporters’ questions, they’re good at catching your words and exaggerating them."
"I understand."
Stepping out of the elevator, Rebecca Quentin was met with a sea of daylight.
Countless flashlights and magnesium lights aimed at her, and she heard a multitude of camera clicks.
Never having faced such a large scene, Manager Smith was shocked, gripping Rebecca Quentin tightly.
Rebecca Quentin’s face remained calm, her gaze indifferent as she looked at the numerous reporters blocked by company security on either side.
Manager Smith led Rebecca Quentin into the reception room where the press conference was held.
On the way, many reporters were eager to question Rebecca Quentin, but she remained silent.
After entering the reception room, Rebecca Quentin heard Director Lynn’s voice, "Now let Miss Quentin explain to everyone directly!"
Suddenly, Rebecca Quentin felt all eyes in the room on her.
Director Lynn stepped down from the stage to whisper in Rebecca Quentin’s ear, "Speak well, ’QCS’ has treated you generously."
Rebecca Quentin took a deep breath before walking to the makeshift podium in the reception room.
The lights were so dazzling that she could hardly keep her eyes open. Despite her sure determination that everything would be resolved tonight, Rebecca Quentin still felt a bit nervous.
Reporters began to ask questions, "Miss Quentin, after E Weekly Magazine exposed Miss Alice’s self-narration, it seems you haven’t responded. Can you comment on this matter now?"
"Miss Quentin, eyewitnesses claim to have seen you with Mr. Geoffrey at Cloud Hotel in Y City. Does this confirm Miss Alice’s accusation that you seduced Mr. Geoffrey in Y City?"
"Yes, Miss Quentin..."
Suddenly, a voice interrupted, it was Director Lynn.
"Please understand one fact, today’s press conference is not to clarify Secretary Quentin’s personal matters. Those interested in her personal affairs can find another opportunity to ask her, please move to the main topic."
After Director Lynn spoke, finally a reporter shifted the topic, asking, "Miss Quentin, is the rumor in ’QCS’ true that you and the hidden boss of ’QCS’ are a romantic pairing?"
Rebecca Quentin remained silent.
She didn’t want to say anything, she was waiting for Howard Geoffrey to come to her aid!
"Miss Quentin, everyone in ’QCS’ said you personally confirmed this fact, is that true?"
"If Miss Quentin is indeed in a relationship with the hidden boss of ’QCS,’ why not announce such wonderful news to everyone?"
These reporters were truly pushing her to the brink...
Rebecca Quentin finally couldn’t hold back, interrupting a reporter, and asking unhappily, "Do journalists have to be so aggressive?"
The reporters didn’t expect Rebecca Quentin to fight back, falling silent for a few seconds, then a reporter asked again, "Miss Quentin, can you give a direct response regarding your romance with the hidden boss of ’QCS’?"
"I have nothing to say."
No matter what she clarifies, these people will try to push her to the brink, so she opts to say nothing, just until Howard Geoffrey comes to clear things up.
Another reporter maliciously asked, "There’s an internal rumor at ’QCS’ that the romantic affair between Miss Quentin and the hidden boss is just hearsay, and Miss Quentin secretly spread this rumor to climb up at ’QCS.’ Miss Quentin, could you explain this and such claims?"
"Can’t these journalists stop being so offensive..." Manager Smith, seeing the reporters being relentlessly aggressive, angrily shouted before wanting to rush to the stage, but was held back by Director Lynn.
