Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 494 - 260: Howard Geoffrey’s Ex-Wife’s Identity Exposed (Part 2)
Rebecca Quentin picked up the organized drafts and smiled as she said, "If I were really involved with such a big figure, why would I need to do such heavy work at the company now?"
"I also find it unlikely, but I must say, Becca, you have an innate grace that always makes me feel there’s some distance between you and us..."
Rebecca Quentin shook her head with a smile, dramatically looked at Nicolette Holmes, and clicked her tongue, "In terms of elegance, who in the company can compare to you, Miss Holmes..."
Nicolette Holmes responded shyly, "But I only attract some wild weeds..."
"Last time you said you wanted me to introduce you to Doctor Robinson; he’s free now. I think it’s a good time to introduce you two..."
"Really..."
After placing the drafts back at her seat, Rebecca Quentin was called to the office by Manager Smith.
Manager Smith treated Rebecca Quentin with his usual enthusiasm.
"Sit, sit..."
Rebecca Quentin smiled and sat down opposite Manager Smith.
"Becca, your performance just now was fantastic. You’re simply amazing every time I’m impressed!"
"Manager, you’re over-praising me. Actually, there are still many things I don’t understand about design. I did well today because of the help from other colleagues."
Manager Smith nodded, "Indeed, becoming proficient at being a designer is not something you learn overnight, but you have a talent for it. I believe with more opportunities to hone your skills, you’ll soon be on the track."
"I’ll work hard."
"By the way, the reason I called you in is for a personal favor."
"Hmm?"
Manager Smith took a handbag from under his seat and handed it to Rebecca Quentin, "I know you’re neighbors with Chester Robinson. I have something to send him, could you help me give it to him?"
Rebecca Quentin took the handbag, "Sure." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Nowadays, it’s really rare to see young men and women maintain such pure friendship relationships..."
"Doctor Robinson and I count as having a doctor-patient relationship, and since he’s always around patients, I guess most of his friends are patients too. We’re just neighbors, so we’re relatively familiar."
"He’s in his thirties and yet he isn’t rushing about marriage..."
"With such good conditions himself, he must have high standards!"
"What about you?"
"Ah?"
"Last time you mentioned your ex-husband, any progress?"
Rebecca Quentin lightly smiled and shook her head, "I don’t think there will be any progress between us."
Manager Smith looked quite surprised, "But last time you said there was a misunderstanding between you two..."
Rebecca Quentin slowly lowered her eyelashes, calmly saying, "The misunderstanding is over but matters of the heart once past are past. Previously, I was too naive... I think I’ll never have those unrealistic thoughts again."
Manager Smith sighed, "Ah, matters of the heart are the most troublesome of all worldly affairs..."
Rebecca Quentin maintained her gentle smile and stood up, "Manager, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head out."
"Go on then!"
Back home, Rebecca Quentin tiredly lay on the sofa.
Lately, the frequency of work has been too high, but fortunately, such fulfilling life is exactly what she wants.
After simply making herself dinner and filling her stomach, Rebecca Quentin was thinking of taking a shower and going to bed early when she suddenly remembered the things Manager Smith asked her to bring to Chester Robinson.
Taking up the handbag, Rebecca Quentin went to the next door.
Rebecca Quentin pressed the doorbell, but waited for a long time without response; just as she was about to turn and leave, the door behind her swung open unexpectedly.
"Becca..."
Rebecca Quentin turned around and saw Chester Robinson with only a bath towel wrapped around his lower body, and his damp hair and body exuding a refreshing scent, indicating he had just finished bathing.
Seeing Chester Robinson like this for the first time, Rebecca Quentin’s face flushed slightly, "Uh, sorry for disturbing you. Manager Smith mentioned there were things to bring to you." As she spoke, she handed the handbag to Chester Robinson.
"Things?"
"Yes."
Chester Robinson took it and glanced inside the handbag, his mouth curved suddenly, and he chuckled lightly.
Rebecca Quentin didn’t get curious about what was inside the handbag, lowered her eyes, and said, "Well... the things have been handed over to you. I’m leaving."
Rebecca Quentin turned to leave, but Chester Robinson had already reached out and pulled her back, "Come in and sit for a bit."
As he approached, the refreshing scent assaulted her senses, coupled with his chest being so close. Rebecca Quentin felt somewhat uncomfortable, hastily saying, "No, I have things to do tonight."
Chester Robinson seized Rebecca Quentin’s wrist as she tried to leave, speaking with a low emotion, "Your friend has been broken-hearted, I need your comfort tonight."
