Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 434 - 230: The Little Devil Clings to Daddy
"Are you sure you got a hotel waiter to bring me back?"
"I’m sure. I even called halfway to confirm with him, and he said he had safely brought you back to the hotel. It was only then that I felt at ease."
Upon hearing Chester Robinson’s explanation, Rebecca Quentin couldn’t help but furrow her brows. "Can you still find that waiter’s phone number?"
"Of course... but you haven’t told me why you’re here yet?"
"Doctor Robinson, I now suspect that the waiter didn’t bring me back to the hotel we were staying at last night, but instead took me to the XXX Hotel."
"XXX Hotel? That seems to be the hotel where Alice Robinson and Howard Geoffrey are staying."
Rebecca Quentin nodded, "Can you call that waiter and confirm where he took me last night?"
"Okay."
Chester Robinson took out his phone and quickly found the number.
After the call connected, Chester Robinson pressed the health button and asked, "Hello, I asked you to take Miss Quentin back to the XX Hotel last night. Are you sure you got her there safely?"
The waiter on the other end sounded quite surprised, "Mr. Robinson, didn’t you ask me to take ’Miss Robinson’?"
"What Miss Robinson?"
"Isn’t she your sister?"
"When did I ever tell you she’s my sister, and I told you to take her to the XX Hotel. Why did you send her to the XXX Hotel?"
The waiter innocently explained, "Last night I heard you say ’Miss Robinson’ clearly. At that time, I even thought that this ’Miss Robinson’ looked different from the one in the newspaper. I wanted to confirm with you, but you had rushed into the elevator... I didn’t hear clearly the hotel you mentioned. I figured since her last name is ’Robinson,’ she must be your sister, so I made a point to ask Mr. Geoffrey’s hotel, and then took ’Miss Robinson’ to the XXX Hotel."
Ending the call, Chester Robinson angrily said, "It looks like the waiter misunderstood. She thought you were my sister, but even if she misheard ’Robinson’ and ’Quentin,’ I clearly remember I told him the hotel’s name..."
"Doctor Robinson, I think last night’s incident is very suspicious."
"How so?"
"Last night I only had a sip of wine, yet I felt dizzy and fell asleep in your car... Then I spent the entire night at the XXX Hotel; I can’t remember anything at all."
"Are you suggesting someone set this up last night?"
"Yes, Howard Geoffrey told me he checked the hotel’s security footage, but coincidentally, the footage showing how I arrived at the hotel is missing."
Chester Robinson furrowed his brows in deep thought, "When you put it that way, there indeed seem to be some inconsistencies in the waiter’s story... Wait, Alice Robinson was also at the hospital last night accompanying my uncle, and Howard Geoffrey returned to the hotel alone. You mentioned him just now, so you and he..."
Knowing what Chester Robinson wanted to know, Rebecca Quentin immediately shook her head, "I can’t remember last night’s events, but I can be sure he didn’t stay at the hotel last night."
In other words, nothing happened between her and Howard Geoffrey.
Waking up in a disheveled state, although she was embarrassed, the probability of anything happening was extremely low...
Firstly, her body didn’t feel any abnormal, and secondly, in his accusatory words just now, it was apparent that things hadn’t escalated to the worst-case scenario last night...
Chester Robinson breathed a sigh of relief, "It’s good that you’re alright... It’s all my fault. I couldn’t send you back to the hotel myself and didn’t notice anything strange with the waiter."
"You can’t blame yourself, you must have been very worried about your uncle at the time..."
"In any case, it’s my fault. Asking for your help led to such an incident in France."
Rebecca Quentin calmed down and pondered for a moment, then said, "Doctor Robinson, I feel like there must be a mastermind behind this. You have extensive connections in France; can you help me investigate this matter?"
"Of course, I will definitely get to the bottom of this."
Returning to the hotel.
In the afternoon, because her head was still aching, Rebecca Quentin remained at the hotel to rest.
It was already confirmed that someone was manipulating events from behind the scenes last night, but she couldn’t think of who would go to such lengths to humiliate her...
She suspected Alice Robinson, but Alice wouldn’t risk leaving Howard Geoffrey alone with her to set her up...
Then, aside from Alice, who else could it be?
Actually, the most suspicious person was Chester Robinson. He was the only one she had contact with last night, and he was also Alice’s brother.
However, she would never suspect Chester Robinson because she trusted him.
He was the one who saved her from the brink of death on the operating table. He couldn’t possibly harm her...
Therefore, she wouldn’t suspect either of the siblings.
