Chapter 401: Chapter 213: No Children (2-2)

Howard’s handsome face turned cold, and he replied with two words on his phone –– expose.

In the early hours, Howard returned to the room.

The room was not lit, but with the dim light from the garden shining in, he could clearly see Becca sitting on the bed, hugging her knees.

Turning on the light, Howard could see that Becca’s emotions seemed to have calmed down; her face no longer bore traces of tears, but her eyes stared blankly, appearing lost and desolate.

Howard walked over, noticing the dinner that remained untouched on the bedside table, his brow furrowed, "Are you deliberately staying mad at me?"

Becca remained silent, her eyes still unfocused and vacant.

Suddenly, Howard sat on the bed, gripping her weakened shoulders, gritting his teeth, "Don’t overdo it—" He was never a patient man, even with her, his patience had limits, especially when she was clearly defying him on purpose.

When Howard seized Becca’s frail body, she wobbled heavily, like a rag doll, letting him do as he pleased.

Facing Becca’s indifferent attitude, Howard suppressed the anger rising in his heart, stood up with a grim face, and irritably unbuttoned his shirt, muttering lowly, "Damn it, you’re really trying to go against me!!"

Becca remained unmoved, not even blinking.

"If you won’t eat, then don’t. I doubt missing one meal will starve you to death."

Throwing down these words in anger, Howard strode out.

"Bang!" The sound of the door being slammed shut echoed through the room.

Becca gently bit her lip, struggling to suppress the desperate pain in her heart.

The next day.

Early in the morning, Howard came in from outside.

Mrs. Geoffrey was just coming downstairs, and upon seeing Howard, she asked with concern, "Why are you coming in from outside?"

"I had some business to attend to last night, so I went out."

"Was it about Becca..."

"How is she?"

Mrs. Geoffrey replied, "I just went to check on her, she’s fallen asleep. I’ve instructed the servants to bring her breakfast once she wakes up. I’m really worried about her health."

Howard was already heading towards the second floor.

Knowing that she was sleeping, Howard gently turned the door handle.

The room was very quiet, he could faintly hear her breathing.

Exhausted, Howard silently walked to the bedside. Becca had cried herself to sleep, she lay there quietly, but her brow was furrowed.

Even in her dreams, she refused to relax...

He scrutinized her slightly pale face, slowly reaching out to caress her beautiful face with infinite affection.

"Becca..." He gently brushed aside the strands of hair on her cheek, calling softly.

Becca merely murmured softly, not waking up.

Howard sat by the bedside, took her hand, and gently kissed it, "I’m sorry."

At this moment, a sudden ringtone broke the silence in the room.

Howard immediately got up to find Becca’s phone. He intended to hang up but noticed the screen displaying "Doctor Henley’s" name, so he answered, "Hello."

"Mr. Geoffrey," Doctor Henley, who had met Howard once before, immediately recognized his voice. "It’s like this, today is Miss Quentin’s scheduled day for a prenatal checkup. Usually, she arrives by now, but today she hasn’t come, so I called to check."

Howard glanced at Becca, still asleep on the bed, and spoke softly, "Can the checkup be postponed until the afternoon?"

Doctor Henley replied kindly, "Yes, that can be arranged. I’m free this afternoon."

"Let’s schedule it for the afternoon then."

"Alright."

Afternoon.

Becca slowly woke up from her sleep...

Perhaps because she cried too much yesterday, her eyes were swollen and couldn’t open properly.

Forcing her dry eyelids open, Becca’s vision gradually became clear.

"Awake?"

Before she could think of anything, a gentle voice already arrived.

Howard was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at her face that showed slight color after sleep, speaking softly, "The doctor just called, today is your prenatal checkup day... get up and eat something, then we’ll go to the hospital."

Becca slowly sat up, leaning against the headboard, looking calmly at Howard.

Howard gazed at Becca with affection, "Shall I ask the maid to bring you something to eat, alright?"

Becca neither nodded nor refused.

Her lack of a strong reaction improved Howard’s mood. He kissed her cheek lightly, then got up and left the room.

Soon, the maid brought in steaming food to the room.

Howard personally brought the bowl over, cooling the chicken soup with a spoon, he spoke warmly, "Have some soup first."

With her stomach empty for a day, Becca hesitated for a few seconds after smelling the fragrant soup, then accepted it.

Howard watched with satisfaction as Becca drank the soup. After she finished, he offered her breakfast...

Becca was evidently hungry, eating her breakfast down to the last bite.

Seeing Becca’s now calmer demeanor, a faint smile appeared on Howard’s handsome face, he gently asked, "Ready to get up?"

Becca did not respond to Howard but had already risen and gotten out of bed.

Half an hour later.

In the car, Becca quietly gazed ahead.

Howard drove with one hand while using his warm palm to envelop Becca’s slightly cold hand.

The drive was silent, lacking the hardness and confrontation of yesterday, seemingly improving the atmosphere.

The car soon arrived at the hospital. When Howard reached out to help Becca out of the car, she did not accept it. To avoid affecting her mood further, he didn’t press her. Even walking into the hospital, he followed behind her, showing complete concession.

Doctor Henley was already waiting in the office. Upon seeing them arrive, he smiled, "Prenatal exams should not be taken lightly, especially since Miss Quentin’s health isn’t the best, even if time is scarce, it shouldn’t be delayed!"

Becca sat down across from the doctor, while Howard stood next to her. Hearing the doctor’s words, Howard nodded lightly, "We’ll be more careful next time."

Doctor Henley smiled at Becca sitting across, "The baby is almost three months now. Today’s exam we’ll..."

"Doctor Henley." Becca suddenly interrupted the doctor.

Doctor Henley maintained his friendly smile, "Hmm?"

At that moment, Becca took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, "I’m not here for a prenatal checkup today, I want to terminate the pregnancy."
