Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 198: Those Eyes That Make My Heart Race
Vivian Sullivan took advantage of Summer Lowell’s rest, returned to her place, and brought some necessities to make it easier for Summer to recuperate in the hospital.
When she returned to the ward, she received a call from Justin Huxley, who had just finished a meeting.
Vivian looked at the still sleeping Summer and took the phone out to the corridor: "Senior Huxley, Summer is still asleep. If you’re looking for her, it might be a while. How about this, when she wakes up, I’ll have her call you back?"
"Alright, when she wakes up, have her call me back, but can you tell me how she’s doing now? I’ve been in meetings all this time and couldn’t leave, and when I called Summer earlier, she didn’t answer. I’m worried about her, so I called you," Justin said.
"Summer’s fine, don’t worry. I’m here with her," Vivian reassured him, observing Summer through the glass door. "But Senior, if you’ve finished with work, come back as soon as possible. She has lost all her memory; I feel she needs some security. She might feel better with you around."
"I understand, I’ll speed up my work and come back as soon as possible to be with her," Justin’s voice was full of remorse, "Thank you for your hard work. In my absence from Stellarion, I entrust you to take good care of her."
Both are entrusting her, but it’s hard to tell who is more sincere.
After hanging up the phone, Vivian Sullivan stared blankly at the busy little nurse in the distance.
From the afternoon till now, she couldn’t help but recall Maxim Sinclair’s warning to her.
Honestly, she was afraid if what Maxim said was indeed true.
If that’s the case, her actions to match Summer Lowell and Justin Huxley were no different than pushing her best friend into a pit of fire.
Maybe it’s due to her upbringing, Summer’s personality is a bit overly strong.
Most of the time, she only reports good news, not the bad.
So Vivian was indeed unsure about what was going on between Summer and Maxim Sinclair.
Maxim’s concern today didn’t seem fake.
And Summer’s despair and sluggishness visible to the naked eye when she was dismissed from the company and stayed by Maxim’s side were also evident.
Summer had never really expressed her thoughts on Maxim Sinclair in front of Vivian.
Now Vivian Sullivan was very troubled, unsure whom to believe between them.
After a night of difficulty, Vivian thought of taking Summer to her own place.
Anyway, with those two men, she couldn’t discern who was reliable.
Since that’s the case, why not take matters into her own hands?
At least she herself wouldn’t harm Summer.
Vivian returned to the ward with a heavy heart. Summer, unbeknownst to her, had already woken up and was standing by the window having a drink.
Upon hearing the door open, she turned around and greeted Vivian Sullivan: "I feel quite good. You don’t have to stay here all the time to take care of me. Doctors work so hard, I’m afraid your body can’t handle running back and forth."
"Don’t worry; my body is stronger than yours." Vivian snapped her fingers and handed her the roasted sweet potato she specifically bought, "It’s rare to see roasted sweet potatoes in the summer. Have one, if it’s hot, I’ll adjust the air conditioning to a cooler temperature later."
The warm and sweet aroma of the roasted sweet potato filled the air, Summer smiled, holding the sweet potato in her hand, and sat on the small sofa nearby: "It smells delicious. Did I used to really love eating this?"
"Well, do you feel happy now having this roasted sweet potato?"
Summer nodded vigorously: "I feel very happy inside. Even without memory, my taste remains the same."
"That’s good."
Summer dug out a piece of sweet potato with a small spoon and put it in her mouth. As the tongue touched the sweet potato, she remembered Maxim Sinclair’s eyes looking at her in the afternoon. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
She couldn’t deny how flustered she felt when those eyes were on her.
To what extent was she flustered?
From the moment she awakened until she stood at the window, she had been considering a possibility.
Could Justin Huxley have deceived her?
Or was she emotionally cheating?
Otherwise, why would her heart race so fiercely in front of Maxim Sinclair?
As if, truly as he said, the person she loved was him.
...
Mrs. Huxley went upstairs to Tina Huxley’s room: "Earlier when I spoke to you, you were in a huff. Look at yourself; your temper is getting worse. What will happen when you marry?"
Tina Huxley, who had just finished bathing, sat in front of the dressing mirror caring for her skin. She handled the mask in her hand and said sarcastically, "With Summer Lowell’s endless tricks, who knows if I can marry Maxim Sinclair."
"There are plenty of men in the world. If things with Maxim Sinclair don’t work out, your father and I will find you another promising match that aligns with our family, you don’t have to hang on this tree."
"Across the country, how many men can truly compare to Maxim Sinclair?"
Tina Huxley flared up when discussing the matter; she applied the mask on her face while complaining to Mrs. Huxley, "Justin Huxley just left a few days. Summer is already back with Maxim Sinclair. This afternoon she fainted into Maxim’s arms and was taken to the hospital by him. When I tried to go in and check, those Sinclair Family people blocked me in the corridor, not letting me in."
"If they won’t let you in, so be it, why are you so upset about this! Anger is bad for your skin. Your brother has arrangements, hasn’t he asked Miss Lowell’s friend to go over?"
"Oh, you don’t know, her friend and the Sinclair Group’s vice president have questionable ties. They fit perfectly together; all of them are the same."
Tina turned to ask Mrs. Huxley, "Do you think I should call Vaughn again and have a good talk about Summer Lowell? I’m afraid he might dive headfirst and do something irreparable."
"It’s not as exaggerated as you say, Justin has always been calm. It’s you who cries and loses your head over a man. He won’t do that."
Mrs. Huxley, after confirming she was fine, wanted to leave, "I’ve told the kitchen to send you something to eat later. It’s low-fat and low-sugar, dinner won’t make you fat. Don’t worry about this afternoon, you’ve invested a lot in maintaining this face, fretting would be a waste."
After her mother left, Tina Huxley, still unsettled, called Justin Huxley again.
In Cantova, Justin Huxley was in a bar, accompanying President Grant of Aevum Group in indulgence when he received Tina’s call.
Seeing President Grant surrounded by others, Justin called his assistant to handle the situation and went outside to answer Tina’s call: "What’s up? Has your sister-in-law returned home?"
