Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 172: You Must Stay Within My Sight
Summer Lowell’s expression froze slightly as she took the wine bottle under the prompting of Maxim Sinclair.
Maxim Sinclair even remembered this.
Could he truly be sincere with her?
Then why did he deceive her in the first place?
...
The meal was finished absentmindedly.
Once she was full, Summer Lowell stood up and wandered along the nearby beach, digesting her meal.
After walking with her for a while, Maxim Sinclair suddenly reached out, grabbed her wrist, and led her to a nearby patrol car.
Summer Lowell, still a bit dazed after being pulled into the car, asked, "Why are we suddenly sitting here?"
"You’ve been absentminded all night." Maxim Sinclair lowered his head, squeezing her fingers, "I can see you’re tired, maybe from all the fun. I’ll take you back to rest first."
Summer Lowell looked longingly at the beach, not wanting to leave yet.
Maxim Sinclair saw her thoughts and said deliberately, "You seem to like this place a lot. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of chances to come here again."
As they approached the hotel where they were staying, Summer Lowell lazily stretched out her hand in a yawn, indicating she was sleepy, hinting that Maxim Sinclair should let her off the hook tonight.
Maxim Sinclair noticed her action and silently chuckled.
Once in the room, Maxim Sinclair took out his phone, which he hadn’t touched all night. As he fiddled with it and walked to the balcony, he told the nervously waiting Summer Lowell, "If you’re tired, go take a bath and rest. I’m not sleepy yet, I’ll handle some work while I’m still alert. It’s not right to leave all the work to others."
Did that mean he was letting her off tonight?
Summer Lowell breathed a sigh of relief, picked up a bathrobe nearby, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up and rest.
Maxim Sinclair glanced back at her, then closed the balcony door. Watching the scene inside the room, he dialed a domestic number: "Has Justin Huxley settled down in the past few days?"
Meanwhile, in the country, Charles Jenson gestured for the meeting to pause and stepped into another area: "Justin Huxley has been closely monitored as per your instructions. Strangely, he’s been quite composed lately and hasn’t been stirring up domestic business."
"Not stirring up domestic business?" Maxim Sinclair frowned and asked, "What has he been busy with these past few days?"
Charles Jenson thought over the responses from his team and compiled them before answering, "It seems Justin Huxley has been occupied with international matters. He went abroad two days ago and came back early this morning in a rush; we’re not sure what he’s been up to."
Maxim Sinclair snorted coldly and said sarcastically, "He’s very greedy, but unfortunately his capabilities are average. He probably wants both domestic and international leverage but suddenly realized he can’t manage both."
"I think the same," Charles Jenson chuckled, cleverly flattering him, "His skills are just that limited. However, he can’t keep this ruse up for long; over time, his true colors will show."
Upon hearing this, Maxim Sinclair recalled how Summer Lowell always defended Justin Huxley, feeling unsettled, "Alright, keep monitoring him. Let me know at once if something’s off. And regarding the company’s issues, if they’re difficult to handle, send me an email, and I’ll take care of it."
"Understood, and there are two projects where I need your decision. I was about to discuss them with you. I’ll have the documents sent to your email in two or three minutes. Please review them and respond promptly, President Sinclair."
After hanging up, Maxim Sinclair held his phone while his eyes unconsciously gazed at the shower inside.
Summer Lowell, Summer Lowell, what will it take for you to see Justin Huxley for the monster he truly is?
After a calm and uneventful night, Summer Lowell woke up early to jog on the beach below.
She ran for only a few minutes before bumping into familiar faces.
Melanie Sinclair was also out for a run. She spotted Summer Lowell and warmly approached her with Tina Huxley.
Recalling their awkward encounter before, Summer Lowell made some lukewarm small talk. But noticing they showed no signs of leaving, and not wanting to interact with the two, she turned back to the hotel halfway through her run.
In the corridor, she bumped into Maxim Sinclair returning from the gym. He opened the door, letting Summer Lowell in first: "You’re up early today. If you want to exercise, come to the gym where I am; it’s quieter and less crowded. Judging by your expression... did you run into someone you didn’t want to see at the beach?"
Often, Summer Lowell suspected Maxim Sinclair had implanted a chip in her because he could so accurately guess what she was thinking.
Summer Lowell took off her jacket and tossed it aside, mentioning to Maxim Sinclair, who was drinking water nearby, "Your sister, and Tina Huxley too. I just ran into them. They seem really close, running together on the beach now."
Maxim Sinclair raised his eyebrows slightly, "Sister? I don’t have any sisters." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Melanie Sinclair." Summer Lowell dropped the name, opened the bathroom door, and went in to shower.
Outside, Maxim Sinclair took out his phone from his pocket: "Find out why Melanie Sinclair is on this island. She’s always restless, keep an eye on her. Also, check on Tina Huxley, why is she here too?"
A minute later, the phone rang again, and Maxim Sinclair listened to the sounds from the shower, stepping onto the balcony, "You can speak now."
"Yes, President Sinclair, we’ve checked. Miss Tina came for leisure. As for Miss Sinclair, she was invited by a friend to attend a week-long pre-wedding party of a friend from her university abroad."
Maxim Sinclair felt something was still amiss, tapping the railing as he pondered for a moment, instructing the person on the phone, "Don’t slack off. Keep a close watch on those two, no room for error."
"Understood, President Sinclair, we will keep a close eye on them."
Meanwhile, Summer Lowell emerged from the shower, her hair still damp.
Maxim Sinclair squinted slightly before ending his call and walking over, "I’ve never tried drying your hair before. Why don’t I give it a go today?"
Summer Lowell naturally refused, "It’s warm and windy here; my hair will dry on its own in no time without a hairdryer."
"No, I can’t stand seeing it like this. Let me dry it for you, and then we’ll quickly eat. I’ll take you yachting and fishing nearby afterward."
"But I don’t like fishing," Summer Lowell circled around the table, avoiding Maxim Sinclair’s recent attempt to grab her hand, "You go ahead; I enjoy this island’s scenery. I’ll wander around."
"I can’t leave you on this island on your own. As I mentioned before we came here, you must stay within my sight."
