Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 161: Maxim Sinclair Prepares to Change Tactics and Pursue Summer Lowell
"Maxim Sinclair, don’t you think what we’re doing is really meaningless?" Summer Lowell’s hands hung limply at her sides, her chin resting on Maxim Sinclair’s shoulder, with a wry smile in her voice. "I can’t even figure out why you use such despicable and low methods to keep me by your side, for what purpose?"
"You still don’t understand my heart? Only when you’re by my side can my heart settle down, only by looking at you do I feel like an emotional person." Maxim Sinclair turned his head and gently kissed her hair. "Weren’t we great before? You could be like you were then, act coy with me, throw little tantrums, instead of acting like a puppet with no vitality like now."
Summer listened and was silent for a while, finally remembering the real purpose of her visit today. She pushed away from Maxim Sinclair, who was still hugging her reluctantly, and stared into his eyes, saying, "Don’t target my senior anymore. I’ve signed the contract, and I’ll fulfill it properly. If you do anything similar to him again, don’t blame me for being unkind."
Maxim Sinclair shook his head and smiled, then suddenly reached out to pinch Summer’s chin, forcing her to lift her head. "Are you still so unclear? Tell me, what mean thing are you planning to do to me?"
"Even if the Sinclair Family has a strong background, they still have to pay attention to their reputation, right?" Summer slapped his hand away and backed up a step, looking at him resolutely. "It’s not impossible for me to deal with you, Maxim Sinclair. I can’t outfight you, nor do I want to, but our grievances, please don’t involve irrelevant people."
"Speaking of this, I’m suddenly very curious, how did you know I made a move on Justin Huxley?" Maxim Sinclair slowly approached, slightly bent over, staring into Summer’s eyes, softly asking, "If I’m not mistaken, Justin Huxley came to you, right? He wants to falsely accuse me first?"
"Do you despise him that much?" Summer reached out to push him away, stepping back behind the table to argue quietly with Maxim Sinclair across the table. "You have known him for many years; there’s no need to go to such extremes, right?"
"You haven’t known Justin Huxley for a short time either." Maxim Sinclair didn’t pursue further but instead crossed his arms and leaned lazily beside his desk, staring fixedly at Summer. "Interesting, you’re usually very clever but can’t see that he’s using you? Is the effect of first love’s filter that strong?"
"You’re the one slandering him," Summer couldn’t stand it anymore and slapped the table. "You’re the one who bears no old sentiments, don’t falsely accuse my senior instead."
Maxim Sinclair’s face, already expressionless, became even uglier upon hearing this: "If you say one more word for him, I’ll find a way to crush his company right now. To tell you the truth, he hasn’t been back in the country long, and it’s difficult for him to even find his footing. Crushing him is easier than squishing an ant."
"You’re indeed taking the opportunity for revenge, Maxim Sinclair. Here’s a word of advice for you: injustice leads to one’s own destruction." Summer finished speaking and turned to leave the office.
After a long time, Assistant Collins, having important work to report and having no choice but to enter, nervously knocked on the office door, entering into the suffocating atmosphere inside to come before Maxim Sinclair: "President Sinclair, this document needs your signature; the international clients will need it this afternoon."
Maxim Sinclair nodded, took the document, and signed his name.
Assistant Collins waited for him to finish signing and was just about to reach out to take it when he heard Maxim Sinclair ask, "What expression did Summer have when she left?"
Facing him, Assistant Collins didn’t dare lie and could only answer truthfully: "She didn’t look very happy, and she walked quickly; I didn’t see very clearly."
Maxim Sinclair stared thoughtfully to one side, as Assistant Collins stood in front of him, hesitantly reaching for the document, then pulling back.
What does President Sinclair mean by this?
It seems like there’s more to say, but this document urgently needs to be delivered!
"President Sinclair?" Assistant Collins pointed anxiously to the document. "The client is waiting; I need to send it over quickly."
"No rush, let me ask you something first." Maxim Sinclair shoved the document into his arms, fiddling with a pen in his other hand, appearing unusually awkward. "Have I been doing things wrong lately?"
"Ah? What did you say?" Assistant Collins doubted his ears. "I don’t quite understand what you mean."
"I mean, regarding Summer, have I been too excessive? Do I need to try something different to save things?"
[Finally, divine insight, President Sinclair, I never expected you’d finally realize!]
Resisting the urge to speak his mind, Assistant Collins cautiously explained, "President Sinclair, your methods of pursuing a girl are indeed... quite unique."
Maxim Sinclair raised an eyebrow, looking puzzled: "What do you mean, clarify."
"I mean, using this approach might not only fail to win her over but also offend her, ultimately worsening the relationship and making reconciliation impossible." Assistant Collins mustered the courage to explain it all in one go.
Having listened, Maxim Sinclair frowned unhappily: "I don’t like hearing that; say something lucky."
"Alright, alright."
Internally rolling his eyes, Assistant Collins rephrased: "Why not try to do something that will make her happy, to make amends?"
"I noticed she didn’t seem happy; will making amends work?"
[Though I doubt it will be effective, admitting that might cost me my job.]
Assistant Collins scratched his nose, struggling to find the words: "It’s a matter of effort, President Sinclair. If you show enough sincerity, she may not notice in a day or two, but over time her heart will naturally soften. Especially women, they are innately gentle-hearted."
"Gentle-hearted?" Maxim Sinclair chuckled bitterly, "Summer is anything but gentle to me; she’s extremely harsh."
"President Sinclair, as you’ve known her for so long, you should know what she likes. Cater to her preferences, do things that make her happy, which will help ease the tension between you two."
Maxim Sinclair stroked his chin, pondering, and an idea came to mind: "She quite likes traveling. After you deliver the document, check my schedule to see if I can free up a few days or a week, and find a good destination for fostering feelings. I’ll take her there for a trip."
"Understood, I’ll get right on it." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Carrying the heavy responsibility, Assistant Collins left the office. Just as he stepped out, he let out a long breath.
What a headache! Not only do I have to handle all kinds of work for the boss, but now I have to play the role of a relationship advisor, especially dealing with such... indescribable methods of wooing a girl.
If I didn’t want to keep my job, I’d really tell him, "You’ve already offended her completely, and you still want to win her back? Stop dreaming."
