Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls-Chapter 253: The Big Day
Granduncle Xiong waved his hands and the guards started to bring the chests with the taels of silver into the building.
"Come in for tea while my men take down your contribution." He said and glanced at Sima Long and Lin Xuan Qi.
Sima Long bowed at him and Lin Xuan Qi followed Granduncle Xiong into the building.
Inside the building, there were men who were looking at the books, verifying the accounts for the Sima Family’s businesses.
There were chests of taels of gold and silver inside making the wooden chests that they’d brought in seem meager in comparison.
It wasn’t surprising to Lin Xuan Qi, knowing that the Sima Family was huge and had many businesses to support the operations and cultivation of the clan members.
But as he walked deeper into the building, his eyes stopped to focus on something he had never seen before.
There were crystals that were the size of his fist lying in wooden chests and they gave out a faint glow.
"These are Spirit Stones, something that you have no use for." Granduncle Xiong said when he saw him looking at the Spirit Stones.
Granduncle Xiong had thought that Lin Xuan Qi wasn’t a cultivator so he didn’t say anything more than that.
Lin Xuan Qi gave him a nod and his mind was thinking about the Five-Element Stones that the system had promised.
Would they be the same as these Spirit Stones? He wondered.
They got to a room where there were tables and chairs with servants pouring tea for them immediately.
"Have some tea while my men count the silver." Granduncle Xiong sat down and gestured for them to do so.
Lin Xuan Qi glanced at Sima Long and he saw that Sima Long was looking anxiously around at the room and even at the teapot with the teacups.
It must have been the first time Sima Long was in here. He thought.
But he didn’t say much and kept quiet, letting Sima Long have time to digest whatever he was experiencing.
He picked up the teacup and had a sip of the tea. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
When he took in the tea, his eyes opened wide.
It tasted different and it freshened him up immediately, like getting a boost of energy from the tea.
He felt his dantian getting warmer but it got back to normal within the next moment.
Granduncle Xiong saw his reaction and said, "This is Spirit Tea, something you mortals can’t find in the market.
"It helps to circulate your Qi better and lets you stay healthy."
Sima Long heard it and he glanced at Granduncle Xiong, "Can I bring some of it back for my wife?"
Granduncle Xiong raised an eyebrow and shook his head.
"Take the whole teapot with you if you can..." He said and glanced at his men counting the taels of silver.
Hinting to Sima Long that what he could get depended on how much he brought in for the Sima Family.
Sima Long sighed and nodded his head.
It was times like these that he wished that Sima Ye would be around for him.
But he knew that he had to grow up fast since he was becoming a father soon.
And besides that, he had the help from his buddy.
Lin Xuan Qi sighed in silence at what he had seen and had many thoughts running through his mind.
He began to understand why Sima Long liked to frequent the brothels when he met him.
Lin Xuan Qi was very sure that he would run away at the very first instance he could under such conditions.
And maybe Sima Long was able to endure and tolerate it with only Sima Ye and Zhang Jie on his side.
He sighed again when he thought about the future of Sima Long’s child.
What if his child had no Spirit Roots like his father?
Suddenly, a voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
"There’s one thousand three hundred and eighty-five taels of silver." One of Granduncle Xiong’s men shouted.
Granduncle Xiong nodded his head and said, "Not bad for a day of business... but I’m sure you can do better."
Lin Xuan Qi wanted to roll his eyes at Granduncle Xiong at what he had said but kept quiet.
"It’s not that I’m being unrealistic or stingy, the family needs a lot of resources to keep it going strong..." Granduncle Xiong stood up with his hands behind his back and said, "...I’m glad that you are starting to contribute to the family.
"Keep it up and things will get better.
"Take the tea with you if you want to..."
He said and waved his hands at Sima Long and Lin Xuan Qi.
The coldness and transactional response from Granduncle Xiong made Lin Xuan Qi feel disgust in his heart.
He reminded himself not to let the Lin Clan become like the Sima Family when it grew as strong as the Sima Family.
Sima Long could only nod and took the teapot with him.
All that Sima Long wanted now was for Zhang Jie to get well soon.
"I’m so sorry, brother Lin. You didn’t have to go through all of that." Sima Long said apologetically to Lin Xuan Qi when they got out of the building.
Lin Xuan Qi shook his head and said, "It’s fine..."
He tried to change the topic to something else and quickly said, "My wedding will be next Monday, be sure to show up if you are well."
That indeed got Sima Long to be happier and he replied with a smile, "I will be there. And if my wife gets better, she will be there too."
"It’s alright if she isn’t that well, health is more important."
"I know, it’s your big day and I’m sure she would want to get some of the auspiciousness at the wedding for the health of our child."
Lin Xuan Qi sighed silently and said, "Then, I shall see you on my big day."
Even though he knew that it was superstition, at that moment, Lin Xuan Qi hoped that his wedding would indeed let Sima Long, Zhang Jie and their child be healthy and prosperous from it.
