Chapter 392: Doubts (1)

Georgia’s POV

The supplements and the tea worked like an actual miracle. By the end of the week, I finally felt like a functioning human again. Sure, the mornings were still a bit... wobbly, but before lunch my nausea would magically evaporate like it never existed. I couldn’t take Katie to school yet, so Nick did the morning shift while I handled the after-school pickup like a responsible, semi-stable mother.

But today? Today was different.

Not only was it the weekend... we were finally moving into our new home.

Our interior designer was a goddess among mortals. I didn’t even have to step foot outside to pick furniture. She brought everything to me in her laptop, 3D layouts, videos, samples, while I sat at home juggling my hormones, my nausea, and a business meeting with Ella. Truly, a queen.

We’d sent most of our stuff ahead of time, and the rest would be handled by her moving team. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if it was pregnancy or pure excitement that kept me awake last night. Probably both. My brain was doing cartwheels while my body begged for unconsciousness.

So there I was at dawn, sitting on the penthouse sofa like a decorative statue, staring into the void while sipping my honey lemon ginger tea. Wendy and Nora were already bustling around, prepping for the move, when the doorbell rang. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

I heard it.

I acknowledged it internally.

But my body?

Still in factory reset mode.

"Georgia!" Vicky and Ella greeted loudly as they burst inside.

I didn’t move a muscle. Just sipped my tea like a dehydrated rock.

Ella blinked. "What happened to her?"

"Not with herself," Wendy answered without missing a beat. "She probably left her soul in their bedroom."

Nora snorted while Vicky burst into laughter.

"Where’s Nick and Katie?" Vicky asked.

"Katie is in the master bedroom, still sleeping with her dad." Wendy waved a hand. "I’ll continue my chores now. Good luck waking up that pregnant lady. Her eyes may be open, and she may be sipping tea, but her spirit and brain are still sleeping."

Everyone laughed, including Nora, loudly.

"I heard you," I muttered, raising a brow.

That only made them laugh harder.

Ella and Vicky dropped onto the sofa beside me, flanking me like concerned moms.

"You okay? Morning sickness again?" Ella asked.

I shook my head dramatically. "No. Just a lack of sleep. I was too excited and barely slept. And Katie insisted on sleeping with us, so I had to remove one of my pillows—the one I always hug. Don’t get me wrong, I love having her with us, but my mood?" I groaned. "Impossible to regulate. One moment I want this, the next moment I want that. I don’t understand myself anymore."

Ella gently guided my head onto her shoulder and patted me like I was either a toddler or a golden retriever. Honestly? It felt nice.

"Don’t worry," she said. "You’ll get through it soon. When can you find out the gender?"

"Two to three months from now," I answered. "We can check next month, but the chances of getting the wrong result are higher. Waiting a bit longer is safer."

Vicky clapped her hands lightly. "I am manifesting a girl. The universe can hear me."

I sighed, sinking deeper into the sofa, still sipping my tea.

"Please manifest that I stay awake long enough to finish this move first."

"You having a baby makes me want one, too," Ella declared out of nowhere. "Husband or no husband, I don’t care anymore. I just want a baby."

I blinked at her, mid-sip of my tea.

Before I could respond, Vicky leaned in with zero hesitation. "Then ask my brother for one. Is he not making any move on you?"

Ella let out the most dramatic, Oscar-worthy sigh I’d ever heard. Vicky and I instantly sat straighter like gossip-hungry meerkats.

"I don’t know," she began, tossing her hands in frustration. "We’re both so busy lately that we only see each other on weekends. The last time we were together was back on the island. That was more than two weeks ago! The following weekend after that, I had to go home because my mom got sick."

We both nodded, hanging onto every word.

"I invited Liam to come, but he had to fly out of the country for seven days. And when he got back, he had to pick up Violet to visit Reagan. Even texting is becoming a rare species. If he takes too long, I call him, but either his secretary answers or he’s in a meeting."

"Really..." Vicky whispered.

"Right?" Ella threw her hands up. "Our schedules don’t align at all. I sleep early because I have to wake up at dawn for plant pick-ups. Meanwhile, Liam finishes late, so he either calls me right before I sleep or when I’m already snoring and drooling and completely missing his calls."

I tried not to laugh but failed. "Ella..."

She groaned miserably. "I honestly don’t know if we’ll last if this is our situation."

From the kitchen, Nora’s voice suddenly cut through the air like she was a guest judge on a reality show.

"Are you sure he’s busy with work... and not with another woman?"

All three of us snapped our heads toward her so fast I swear our necks cracked.

Wendy gasped, marched over, and smacked Nora’s shoulder. "Stop feeding her doubts! Get back to work!"

But it was too late.

Vicky and I whipped our attention back to Ella, and our jaws dropped.

"I mean..." Ella murmured, eyes watering, "I’m not sure either. That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking."

"What?!" I shrieked.

Vicky gasped so loudly she could’ve summoned spirits, slapping both hands over her mouth as if trying to keep her soul from escaping.

And there the three of us sat, two horrified, one on the brink of tears, while Wendy dragged Nora back into the kitchen like an unruly child.

Pregnancy hormones?

Morning exhaustion?

Zero sleep?

Gone.

Drama had entered the group chat.
