Chapter 1779: Chapter 1739: Leukemia

Upon hearing that Ye Qiu hadn’t said anything, Chen Fang went downstairs on her own.

Ye Qiu continued his cultivation.

Early the next day, after washing up and going downstairs, Ye Weidong was comfortably smoking, and he said, "You’re really something, kid, making Miss Huo cry her eyes swollen!"

"Dad, what does that have to do with me? I’m not even familiar with her."

After Ye Qiu finished breakfast, he looked at his parents and sister and said, "I’m flying to Southern Yunnan to treat someone, not sure if I can fly back today?"

Southern Yunnan?

For the Ye Weidong couple, that seemed very far away!

But now with flights, it’s only about three hours.

When Ye Xue went to pack for Ye Qiu, he wasn’t sure if he’d be flying back today, so after Ye Xue packed his clothes, Ye Qiu took his backpack, got in the car, and drove to Jinling International Airport.

At the international airport, he bought the next flight, which was a little after eight, arriving in Kunming at around noon, then flying from Kunming to Mang City Airport, which took about half an hour.

After buying the plane ticket, he sat waiting, and soon boarded the plane after ticket inspection.

In first class, Ye Qiu drank two drinks, had some snacks, read a magazine for a while, and the plane landed at Kunming International Airport. After disembarking, he bought a ticket to Mang City at the airport.

This flight was about every half hour, all small planes, much like those buses, just that one flies in the sky while the other runs on the ground. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

After checking in and boarding, Ye Qiu found it was all economy class, with about eighty passengers, and the entire journey was half an hour, with two flight attendants continuously selling local travel products.

Perhaps the flight attendants saw Ye Qiu dressed very plainly and didn’t strongly recommend anything to him.

Ye Qiu felt there really are advantages to being low-key.

When arriving at Mang City Airport, upon disembarking, Ye Qiu already saw a group of men in suits waiting for him.

Just by looking at the banner, he knew they were there to pick him up. When Ye Qiu walked over with his backpack, the suit-clad men could hardly believe that this was the Dr. Ye they were supposed to meet.

"The person you’re waiting for is me." Ye Qiu said.

"You’re Dr. Ye? How’s that possible?"

Whether in traditional Chinese medicine or Western medicine, this young man was too young!

He looked like a high school student, how could he be Dr. Ye?

"If you don’t believe it, I’ll just fly back." Ye Qiu said lazily.

Seeing Ye Qiu about to leave, the middle-aged man in charge hurriedly escorted Ye Qiu into the luxurious Rolls Royce.

Once in the car, the driver started driving towards Ruili.

From Mang City to Ruili is about a hundred kilometers, all on the highway. Moreover, with the driver driving fast, it didn’t even take an hour to reach the destination.

Arriving at Ruili People’s Hospital, when Ye Qiu and the group got out of the car, the lead bodyguard said, "Dr. Ye, my boss is inside."

Ye Qiu could tell that anyone sending a Rolls Royce to pick him up must have some money.

Following them inside, he quickly saw a somewhat short and plump middle-aged man in casual wear anxiously pacing back and forth.

Seeing his bodyguards bring someone over, the middle-aged man Yang Guang hurriedly looked at Ye Qiu and asked, "Hello, my last name is Yang. Are you Dr. Ye recommended by Director Zhou?"

"My name is Ye Qiu."

"Dr. Ye, please come take a look at my daughter and son."

Ye Qiu followed Yang Guang and the others towards the intensive care unit of the People’s Hospital, where all the hospital’s main leaders were present.

Yang Guang had children late in life, having these twins with his second wife in his forties. He cherished them dearly but unexpectedly, both his daughter and son, not yet two years old, were diagnosed with leukemia, and their condition was very serious.

Leukemia is a type of malignant clonal disease of hematopoietic stem cells, where clonal leukemia cells drastically proliferate and accumulate in the bone marrow and other hematopoietic tissues due to uncontrolled proliferation, differentiation hindrance, and apoptosis blockage, infiltrating other non-hematopoietic tissues and organs, while inhibiting normal hematopoiesis.

Clinically, varying degrees of anemia, bleeding, infection with fever, along with enlargement of the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes, and bone pain are observed. Different regions in China report leukemia incidence as the sixth most common among various tumors.

Leukemia can be classified as acute or chronic based on the onset’s progression. Acute leukemia cells’ differentiation halts at an early stage, mainly consisting of primitive and early-stage cells, rapidly progressing with a disease course of several months.

Chronic leukemia cells have better differentiation, primarily juvenile or mature cells, progressing slowly with a disease course of several years. Based on the series of affected cells, leukemia includes myeloid series like granulocytes, monocytes, erythrocytes, megakaryocytes, and lymphoid series like T and B cells.

Clinically, leukemia is often divided into lymphocytic leukemia, myeloid leukemia, mixed-cell leukemia, etc.

The symptoms of leukemia are numerous, including fever, infection, bleeding, anemia, and bone and joint pain, and other complications. In the middle to late stages, patients experience excruciating pain, bone pain throughout the body, and discomfort while eating or sleeping. Both of Yang Guang’s precious children have now reached the middle to late stages.

Initially sent to Kunming’s best hospital for treatment, there was no solution, as bone marrow transplants and such were unsuitable with Yang Guang and his wife possibly unqualified, and the main issue being the children were too young for such surgeries.

With no solution from the big hospital in Kunming, they had to return to Ruili People’s Hospital.

Yang Guang was originally planning to give up, feeling he could only bring his precious children back and let time take its course, possibly departing to another world soon.

Unexpectedly, the director of Ruili’s People’s Hospital was friends with Zhou Peng, and the two had met at a previous conference in Yanjing, recognizing each other, and Zhou Peng spoke highly of Ye Qiu’s medical skills, prompting an invitation for him to come over.

Seeing Ye Qiu’s age and attire now, he found it odd but trusted Zhou Peng wouldn’t deceive him.

Ye Qiu saw the crowd here and realized that this boss, Mr. Yang, had an extraordinary status locally; otherwise, such a gathering wouldn’t happen.

Entering the intensive care unit, a pungent and unpleasant medicinal smell greeted him, and inside, a worn-out woman in her thirties looked very haggard, appearing dazed.

This young woman was Yang Guang’s second wife, married to him due to her youth and ability to bear children. Yet unexpectedly, both children, not even two years old, ended up like this.

If the children were to pass away, the woman internally sensed that Yang Guang might deal with it coldly and divorce her, as it is commonly said that the mother rises with the child. Now, this woman feared for her future life!
