Chapter 420: Chapter 420: I’m in Love

Aidan Sinclair acted as if he hadn’t heard him, suddenly hit the pause button, and with a smile on his face, pointed at the screen with his chin, "What do you think of this little girl?"

Ethan Sterling glanced over, "Not much."

Aidan’s expression, initially lit up, suddenly drooped, "What do you mean ’not much’? Didn’t you see the liveliness on this pure and cute face?"

Ethan shook his head, seeing Aidan’s features scrunched up in dissatisfaction, he suspiciously asked, "Is this a new artist signed by your company?" She looked a bit familiar, but he couldn’t quite place where he’d seen her.

Aidan took a sip of his drink and looked at the screen, "Originally, we were planning to sign her..." He stopped mid-sentence, suddenly noticing Ethan’s empty hands, "Want some?"

"Quit."

"Quit?" Aidan reacted slowly under the influence of alcohol, teasing, "For Ruby Sullivan?"

A shadow crossed Ethan’s eyes at those last three words, and he explained lightly, "In Nissa, I had a stomach hemorrhage."

Upon hearing this, Aidan nodded, looked at the glass in his hand, and suddenly put it down, quickly capping the bottle, "I should quit too, gotta take care of my body."

Ethan watched his serious demeanor and raised an eyebrow, "What’s wrong with you?"

"Getting older, need some good maintenance." He put the whiskey cap back on, pushed the glass of leftover liquor away, determined to cut ties with these health foes. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Seeing Aidan acting all mysterious, Ethan’s restlessness flared up again, "Aidan Sinclair, do you want to video chat with my mom?" He said, taking out his phone and shaking it in front of him.

Aidan sobered up halfway, "Ethan Sterling, I just closed a huge deal for The Sterling Group, and now you’re threatening me? Are you even human?"

Ethan laughed. He never understood why Aidan was so afraid of Vivian. This man, who wasn’t even scared of his biological father, was afraid of a stepmother.

He raised an eyebrow, "Vivian says you’re on good terms with her, so how is it a threat?"

Aidan begrudgingly unlocked his phone, "I finally have a mom and don’t want to ruin my image in her eyes." He frowned slightly, not wanting to recall the past.

Ethan felt a momentary discomfort, lowered his head, and put away his phone, "I took a flight lasting over ten hours; if you keep acting up, I’m leaving." He said, trying to stand up.

"Hey!" Aidan gave him a bear hug, pulling him back down, "Listen!" He took a deep breath, "I think I’m in love."

Ethan was stunned. This guy, claiming never to get caught in trouble by the riverside, actually knew the word love? He slowly sat back down.

Aidan pointed to the little girl on the screen, "She comes to all my parties, always fixated on the desserts. I find it quite amusing, so one time I chatted her up out of boredom, and it turned out to be quite interesting."

For the first party of the year, he even sent her a special invitation, but she called to say she couldn’t make it due to other commitments.

Aidan played it cool, but deep down, he was really disappointed, so much so that he canceled the entire event in a fit of pique.

A few days ago, the head of the production department mentioned a couple of promising girls participating in their show; however, they were all signed with agencies. They wanted to bring them on board before the show aired, so they brought the profiles over for Aidan to review.

The ones Aidan picks always make it big. They wanted to get his approval first and then negotiate a reasonable price.

Unexpectedly, Aidan saw her profile among them and felt a bit dejected.

The young girl had just turned 17 after Lunar New Year, with more than four months left until her next birthday, making her exactly 18 years younger than him. Even though he prided himself on maintaining great skin and figure, looking incredibly young, the reality still made him feel insecure.

Though he’d had flings with 20-something students, a fling and true feelings are entirely different!

And how could he propose to this young girl? Suggest she date him, promising to make her famous across every land? She’d smack him if he said that!

Ethan, seeing him deep in thought, mocked him with a cold sneer, "Were you rejected when you confessed?"

Aidan glared at him sideways, "Confessions need the right timing, okay? Timing, don’t you get it? I’m not going to blindly rush in like a headless chicken."

Ethan gave him a blank glance, stood up without a word, only to be grabbed by the arm again.

"Don’t go, sit down!" Aidan tugged him back to the sofa, sighing, "I just want you to find out what she’s into, it’s not a big deal."

"How would I know?"

"She’s Byron Jennings’s youngest daughter, Hannah Jennings’s sister. Aren’t you dating Byron? Just help me check it out." Aidan posed his request, a bit tipsy and with a favor to ask, his pride completely disregarded.

"We broke up."

Aidan’s hopes were immediately crushed, "Get lost."

Ethan glanced again at the screen, "Her name’s Stella Jennings, right?"

Aidan’s eyes twinkled, and he gruffly replied, "Yeah."

Ethan laughed, "She likes Ruby Sullivan." But then his face fell again.

Suddenly feeling akin to Aidan, like a pair of unlucky brothers, he sat back down, looked up at the TV, pretending nonchalance, but his voice was hesitant as he asked, "If Ruby Sullivan has a new suitor, and she starts to like him a bit, should I let go?"

Aidan, not bothering with him, "If you have a new girlfriend, isn’t that letting go? Or do you intend to wait until remarriage?"

Ethan pursed his lips, shooting an icy glance at Aidan, "Stella Jennings is a fan of Ruby Sullivan."

"You can’t let go, you have to win her back. Ruby Sullivan is the mother of your child, no one matches her but you." Aidan perked up, cheering Ethan on enthusiastically like he really meant it.

"What if that suitor is T?"

"T?" Aidan hesitated, swallowing before speaking again. In his mind, T refers only to the leader of the world’s largest assassination organization, capable of getting anyone in the world.

Aidan took a deep breath, thinking Ethan had indeed fallen for a troublesome woman. Why hadn’t he kept her close from the start? L was already troublesome enough, and now T appears.

He patted Ethan’s shoulder, "I think it’s destiny." Seeing Ethan’s glare, he sighed and said, "Life is precious, love is even more so. Trust in your choice, follow your heart."

Ethan disappointedly pushed away his hand, "I’m leaving. You can be Stella Jennings’s godfather, but no way as a boyfriend."

With that, he left without turning back, striking his long legs as he walked out, leaving Aidan’s yell of "Are you even human?" behind the door.

He wasn’t afraid of conflict, but if Ruby Sullivan also liked him, what standing did he have to fight?
