A white-haired girl stalked a boy and a girl from a distance, her pale hair standing out starkly against the night even as she hid behind a tall building and above her, a white crow circled lazily, completely invisible to everyone except her.

"I told you, Amyra," the bird spoke, her voice calm yet annoyingly knowing. "You're gonna lose if you keep staying away and acting all cold."

Kyun had appointed herself Amyra's self-proclaimed relationship advisor ever since the day she had seen Nyx and Alden hugging.

"I still don't understand why you are angry," Kyun continued, "especially when I already told you Alden doesn't have feelings for Nyx either."

Amyra pouted ever so slightly.

She had promised herself she wouldn't talk to him until the tournament was over. She had sworn she would stay angry and yet… her heart, that traitor, refused to cooperate, pounding every single time her eyes landed on him.

She gripped the edge of the wall and peeked out, watching how calmly Alden walked beside Nyx and then it happened.

A man suddenly appeared, clearly about to bump into Nyx and Alden reacted instantly, grabbing Nyx's palm and pulling her toward him.

Amyra's expression didn't change even a little but the edge of the wall beneath her fingers cracked as her grip tightened and somehow, the complete lack of expression on her face made the moment far more terrifying than any visible outburst ever could.

She quickly controlled her anger and released a sigh of relief.

"Hey, Kyun," Amyra muttered softly, a gentle smile appearing across her lips. "Do you think Alden would mind if I just… locked him up with me in some basement on a faraway continent?"

Her eyes glowed faintly.

"Somewhere quiet without any disturbances with just him and me."

She tilted her head.

"Wouldn't that be nice?"

A shiver ran straight down Kyun's spine.

Nope.

Absolutely not nice.

Kyun knew it. The more Amyra suppressed her feelings, the more unhinged her thoughts were becoming and the more unstable she became, that was also why she was staying with her and not Alden.

Kyun, having inherited the fair share of memories and wisdom of her predecessor, sighed internally like a veteran who had seen too many doomed romances.

Alright… last resort.

"Amyra," Kyun said carefully, hovering closer, her tone unusually serious. "You are doing this wrong."

Amyra blinked.

"You don't win by glaring from the shadows nor do you win by pretending you don't care and you definitely don't win by fantasizing about kidnapping."

She paused.

"If you keep suppressing it, you will either explode… or do something you will regret."

Then Kyun delivered her final, most dangerous piece of advice.

"So, stop running and talk to him, be honest and get angry if you want, cry if you have to but just stop pretending you don't care. Tell him why you love him and try to win him over sincerely if you truly do love him."

Kyun flapped her wings lightly, her crimson eyes turning sharp.

"Because if you don't act soon…"

She glanced toward Alden and Nyx in the distance.

"Someone else will."

The night breeze passed quietly and for the first time, Amyra's smile wavered.

"The reason he's not in love with you isn't because you're lacking and it's not because Nyx has something you don't."

Her voice softened.

"It's because that bastard is too closed off right now. Even though I don't know what he has faced or why he is like that, every time he even thinks about love, I can feel his emotions, he holds himself back from feeling that."

Amyra's fingers loosened slightly against the now cracked wall.

"So your goal shouldn't be to make him fall for you,"

Kyun went on.

"It should be to make him understand how important he is to you and break down the walls around his heart… slowly."

"Don't hide who you are and don't try to become someone you aren't, be what you truly are inside and don't be afraid of that because if he can't love you for who you really are… then what value do those hollow feelings have even if he decides to be with you?"

For the first time, Amyra's eyes widened.

She stared at the small bird, one that had barely been born a few months ago and yet spoke with a depth and clarity that felt heavier than the lessons Amyra had learned across two lifetimes.

For a long moment… she couldn't say a single word before she nodded.

"You're right, Kyun." Amyra said quietly. "I hid my true self from him from the very day we met. I kept thinking he would hate me… that he could never love me if he knew who I really was."

Her fingers curled slowly.

"But I forgot something important, I was deceiving him too by pretending to be someone I was never meant to be."

She exhaled softly as her eyes hardened, burning with a quiet and terrifying resolve.

"I can't stop other women from falling for him but I can make sure he never falls for anyone except me."

A faint smile returned to her lips, this time sharp, confident and unmistakably Amyra.

"I'll make him fall in love with me fairly."

"That's the spirit!" Kyun cheered from the side, flapping her wings proudly.

Meanwhile her mind had completely different thoughts.

You better thank me, mortal, I just saved you from being chained up in some unknown basement on a faraway continent.

Amyra didn't hear those thoughts but if she had, she probably would have agreed a little too easily.

Meanwhile, as Alden and Nyx took their seats by the window, Alden let out a quiet sigh.

What are those two doing now…?

He had sensed Kyun's presence ever since he had left his apartment and if Kyun was around, then there was only one conclusion to draw, Amyra was nearby as well.

Still, he didn't even look in their direction not because he was cold or emotionless as those feelings had receded after Caera had tried extracting him out of this world.

The real reason why he didn't turn was far simpler because he didn't know how to react.

He let out another sigh as he leaned back on his seat, already predicting trouble as he sensed Kyun's presence drawing closer to their direction.
