Chapter 195: Star Players, Part Twenty-Four

As the anticipation reached its peak, Lianna and Enverna stood at the edge of the arena, the sounds of the cheering crowd reverberating around them.

They slipped out of their casual attire and put on their armor, plucking it out of their Inventories.

Adjusting the straps and securing their weapons, they exchanged a determined glance, a silent affirmation passing between them.

The crowd’s cheers reached a crescendo as Lianna and Enverna stepped out onto the arena floor, their presence commanding the attention of all who watched.

Across from them stood their opponents, Galahad and Elara, the first contestants who were introduced before.

Galahad, clad in gleaming plate armor and wielding a mighty sword, exuded an aura of strength and determination. Beside him, Elara, adorned in flowing robes adorned with arcane symbols, emanated an air of quiet confidence, her hands crackling with mana.

With a nod of mutual respect, Lianna and Enverna prepared themselves for the impending battle.

Their muscles tensed and their senses sharpened, as they braced for the clash to come.

As the battle commenced, Enverna wasted no time engaging the paladin.

Meanwhile, Lianna focused her attention on the sorceress.

Lianna deftly dodged the sorceress’s spells, her movements fluid and precise.

For the first time, Lianna got a good sense of just how powerful {Love Rush} was, the buff she and Enverna got through sex. Lianna had never felt particularly quick or skilled, but dodging these spells was child’s play.

Drawing her bow with practiced ease, Lianna took aim at the mage, her arrow soaring through the air with deadly accuracy.

With a satisfying thud, it struck its mark, embedding itself in the sorceress’s abdomen and eliciting a pained cry from her lips.

Across the arena, Enverna faced off against the paladin, her spear a blur of motion as she expertly parried his attacks.

With a quick flourish, she disarmed him, sending his weapon clattering to the ground as he stumbled backward in surprise.

With their opponents weakened and vulnerable, Lianna and Enverna moved forward, brandishing their weapons.

And, the opponents lifted their hands up.

"We give up." The woman looked down at Lianna and Enverna with surprise. "I guess you two are the real deal."

With that being said, the fight ends and the girls move to the next round.

{Cynthia Taylor}

Cynthia Taylor leaned back in her office chair, the soft glow of her laptop’s screen casting a gentle light across the room as she finished up the last of her paperwork.

With a satisfied sigh, Cynthia set aside the final document and stretched her arms above her head, relishing the sensation of her muscles loosening after hours of sitting at her desk.

Pushing herself up from her chair, Cynthia glanced at the clock on the wall.

It was earlier than she typically left, but she saw no reason to stick around any longer than necessary.

Normally, she would wait until the end of the day before leaving the office, but today, she felt a sudden urge to indulge in some much-needed rest.

Besides, a quiet evening at home sounded far more appealing than another hour spent poring over paperwork.

With decisive steps, Cynthia made her way to the door of her office, her mind already drifting to the prospect of a cozy evening spent lost in a good book.

As she reached for the handle, she paused, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips.

Sometimes, it was the simplest pleasures that brought the most joy.

The streets outside the Watchful guild were strangely silent. Cynthia’s eyes moved from one place to another, wondering where everyone was.

That question was answered when a small group of people began to come out.

With her hands in her pockets, Cynthia stopped, her right brow curving up.

As the group of people began to emerge from the shadows, Cynthia’s keen senses instantly went on high alert.

The eerie silence that had blanketed the streets outside the Watchful guild sent a shiver down her spine, and she braced herself for what she knew was about to unfold.

With a practiced calm, Cynthia observed the small gathering, her sharp eyes scanning the faces of those who had assembled before her.

There was a sense of inevitability in the air, a tension that hung palpably between them, and Cynthia felt a rush of adrenaline course through her veins.

As the group coalesced into a unified front, Cynthia’s gaze narrowed with determination.

This was it. The moment she had been waiting for, the culmination of weeks of anticipation and preparation.

It happened with Xi, it happened with Athene, it happened with Mel and Caroline, and now, apparently, it was her turn.

[Finally. Here I was thinking I wouldn’t get a taste of any action.]

That said, she did feel she had to do one minor thing before this began in earnest.

With a sense of grim resolve, she reached for her phone, her fingers deftly tapping out a message to Lianna.

"They’ve come for me," she typed her words a silent warning to Lianna.

With a final press of the send button, she pocketed her phone and turned her attention back to the gathering before her.

[... I can’t actually tell what classes these people have,] Cynthia noted. [They’re all wearing nothing but rags. Like Lianna said, these people are not experienced fighters.]

She sighed.

[And yet, they’re throwing their lives away to fight me. I wonder why.]

In the midst of the crowd, a figure emerged, their presence commanding attention as they stepped forward with purpose.

It was the child of mana they had been hunting, the elusive target of their relentless pursuit.

Cynthia’s expression hardened as she met the gaze of her adversary, her resolve unyielding as she prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

There was no fear in her eyes, only a steely determination to see this through to the end.

"Let’s get this over with," Cynthia stated firmly, her voice ringing out with unwavering resolve.

With a sense of grim anticipation, she squared her shoulders and braced herself for the inevitable clash that awaited them.
