Chef at the University Canteen-Chapter 410 - 257: If You Can’t Let Go of Private Rooms, You Can’t Keep Talent
Jiangzhou International Airport.
Zhu Yaxue wore a beige bucket hat, carrying a backpack, and walked out of the airport exit with the bustling crowd.
It was already past three in the afternoon, the sun was shining brightly outside, and the sky was a vivid blue, with a few fluffy white clouds drifting by like tempting cotton candy, making one want to take a bite.
The road, having just had a light rain, was still damp, with raindrops occasionally and restlessly falling from the canopy, splattering onto pedestrians’ heads like a shower of rain blossoms.
In the distance, the sky and earth were shrouded in mist, with the city faintly visible, like the mirage of legend.
Standing at the exit, Zhu Yaxue took in everything before her, feeling a bit excited inside.
This was her first time visiting a faraway southern city. The farthest south she’d been previously was Shanghai, so naturally, she was quite thrilled.
Two days ago, after receiving the "fan benefit" Peach Blossom Pastry she snagged, Zhu Yaxue generously shared it with her colleagues at the magazine office.
She originally wanted everyone to help evaluate whether the Peach Blossom Pastry was tasty or not.
Unexpectedly, after tasting the Peach Blossom Pastry herself, she realized she was wrong, terribly wrong.
Such delicious Peach Blossom Pastry, anyone could taste how good it was. There was no need to have so many people evaluate it.
But by then, it was too late to regret.
Because, out of a box of six Peach Blossom Pastries, she only ate one, and the rest were devoured by her colleagues.
And after they finished, they clearly yearned for more, their eyes green with hunger, which made Zhu Yaxue feel a bit scared.
After savoring the taste of the Peach Blossom Pastry, Zhu Yaxue immediately decided to visit Jiangzhou University as soon as possible.
As an editor for a travel and food magazine and a well-known blogger, it’s her job to explore beautiful scenery and delicious food.
If Jiang Yu’s Peach Blossom Pastry were this tasty, imagine how delicious his meals must be?
Just the thought of that taste made her drool.
Therefore, while still at the magazine office, Zhu Yaxue booked a ticket on her phone to fly to Jiangzhou the next day.
After a good night’s rest at home, she got up early, packed her bags, and set off today.
Now, her feet were finally on Jiangzhou soil.
Seeing the tourists bustling before her, the cars weaving back and forth, Zhu Yaxue took a deep breath, invigorated by the cool, moist air filling her lungs.
Without further ado, she moved to the roadside outside the airport exit, flagged down a taxi that had just dropped off passengers, opened the front passenger door, took off the backpack from her back, and sat in the car.
The taxi driver, a middle-aged man in his fifties with slightly graying hair, turned to Zhu Yaxue and asked with a smile:
"Where to, miss?"
While fastening her seatbelt, Zhu Yaxue responded brightly,
"Jiangzhou University."
"Jiangzhou University has several campuses!"
The driver, still smiling, released the brake and slowly merged into traffic, continuing,
"Are you heading to the new campus or the old campus?"
"Huh?"
Zhu Yaxue was suddenly at a loss. She knew the Seventh Dining Hall was at Jiangzhou University, but which campus?
Before coming here, she didn’t know Jiangzhou University had a new and old campus distinction.
"Is this your first time in Jiangzhou?"
The driver glanced at her again, and seeing her silence, he chuckled and said,
"If I’m not mistaken, you’re probably heading to the Seventh Dining Hall at Jiangzhou University, to try Jiang Yu’s dishes, right?"
With a face full of surprise, Zhu Yaxue asked, "How did you know?"
"Do I even need to ask? You’re not the first one."
Beaming with pride, the driver continued,
"Every couple of days, I pick up someone heading to Jiangzhou University, both male and female, older than me and as young as you.
They all come for Jiang Yu’s dishes, don’t they?"
Zhu Yaxue asked again, "So, are Jiang Yu’s dishes really that delicious?"
"How would I know? I haven’t tried them myself."
The driver smacked his lips and shook his head, saying,
"But I’ve driven a few people who did taste Jiang Yu’s cooking, and they say it’s a flavor they’ve never experienced before, unforgettable after just one bite.
When those people left, they sighed, not knowing when they’d have another chance to eat it again, reluctant to leave."
After a pause, he glanced at Zhu Yaxue and jokingly said,
"Miss, I’d advise you not to eat it, lest you get addicted and don’t want to leave. How sad would that be?"
Zhu Yaxue pouted and said,
"How could that be? I came all the way here just to taste the food at the Seventh Dining Hall. If I leave without trying it, I’d regret it for a lifetime."
The driver wasn’t fazed, chuckling as he said,
"Haha, sounds like you’ve already reserved a private room in advance?"
"No."
Zhu Yaxue shook her head, calmly saying,
