Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 38: The brunch - IV

Since the beautiful cupcake was now gone and everyone had arrived including Bella Rosa, her twins and her husband, everyone was down for the branch and Angelo took to the seat of the head.

Evelyn noticed how Angelo automatically took the seat of the family head. It did not sit well with her that he occupied that when there was a clear change of Boss.

However it was not for business to intervene because she was under his protection and challenging his authority would definitely get her a bullet in between the eyes.

"Here," Nikita placed some fruits on her plate, "do not go for the carbs first as they will make you full and hungry later. Have some fruits and food first. Okay?"

Evelyn stares at the woman in mild shock before nodding and thanking her. Nikita was no one to her and Alexis was the host and both of them paid equal attention to her as she was a second cousin.

Evelyn felt her cheeks heat up when she felt someone’s eyes on her. She did not turn to look at who was sitting there because she knew who it was yet refused to acknowledge it.

Mafia men were known for their conquests and she knew better than to indulge one in it.

Her eyes moved to something that Bella Rosa placed on her plate. They were sausage and eggs.

At first Evelyn thought that she had mistaken Evelyn for her daughter sitting by her side but that was not the case. Bella Rosa was paying equal attention to her daughters that were sitting on her left in between Antonio; her husband and Bella Rosa.

An underlying feeling told everyone that they were just fattening up the pig before slaughter.

"Evelyn,"

She looked up and by whom she was addressed by. It was Silvano D’alessandro.

"Yes sir?" She was polite.

He had his focus on her and he had placed his cutlery down. She was going to be the centre of a conversation. "I hope you have planned something ahead. You know that you are not getting your organisation back, which is why, as a fellow friend of your father, I would like you to have something decided for your future."

She nodded. "I am going into the field of business. For now that is all I have as my plans . ."

"Not too far then," he leaned back into the chair, "maybe you should give it another thought?"

She nodded her head. It was not that he said maybe because he wanted her to think about it in the maybe terms. He was just politely putting it in front of people and especially when children were present.

What is subtle way of telling her that no one was going to give her the organisation back. Not that she wanted it back, she was aware that the family was going to tell her that time and again because there was he going to keep an eye out on her.

But at the end of the day she was right. Evelyn had to think of a future for herself because clearly she was not going to get back the firm.

As understanding that she was going to be shy, everyone around her passed her something to eat. Even Evelyn reached for a beautiful cupcake once, though not as beautiful as the one she had previously seen but something similar.

Everything tasted heaven and it was so delicious that everyone waited for the next brunch to happen.

"Are you a TV actress?" A small asked her and Evelyn saw Alessia sitting on the lap of Bella Rosa staring up at her with her big doe eyes.

"No," Evelyn answered as she shook her head softly with a sweet smile, "why do you ask?"

Alessia blinked her eyes in innocence, "you are very pretty and I see l that on the TV." She answered, bobbing her head up and down as she spoke.

Evelyn chuckled. "Why, thank you, pretty girl."

Alessia gave her a dazzling smile. "Also uncle Salvi keeps on looking at you!" She giggled loudly, placing her hand in front of her mouth.

Evelyn’s eyes popped out. There was one thing to ignore but then when the girl said it out loud she knew everyone was aware of it now.

"Is he?" Lucas, the eldest D’alessandro teased. "Uncle Salvi, could you please please not make the branch r18?"

Evelyn’s eyes widened and she immediately moved them to her lap. As if it was not enough that he called out, the eldest son had to go ahead and insult her even more.

Shit.

"Shut up," Salvatore replied very calmly as if the comment had no effect on him.

Evelyn still did not look up. As if it was not enough to sit in between Mafioso’s now she had been declared as the crush of one of them and it certainly was not going to work out in her favour if it was true.

No one addressed it but she was aware that everyone had heard it. Little Alessia had said the words loud enough for everyone to hear it.

Just as everyone’s plates got empty, they slowly started to move inside the house.

Evelyn noticed that Silvano was walking with a cane and was highly dependent on it. She had heard about his accident or rather an unfortunate gunshot but he seemed to be doing much better.

"Well," Silvano placed his hand on his wife’s shoulders, "we would be leaving now. There is no better thing to do than nap after the Sunday brunch."

"I’ll be going too." Dante kissed Alexis’s cheek and then his uncle’s. He then moved to tickling his nieces and nephews’ tummy making their laughs echo in the halls of the house.

Bella Rosa picked both of them, "I’ll be staying here. And I need to put these two to bed for a nap." Antonio excused himself. He had some errands to run which is why Bella was staying here until he came to pick them up in the evening.

As Silvano and his wife along with their son left, Angelo retired to his office, Alexis moved inside the kitchen for something.

The only people that were left in the living room were Salvatore, Lucas and Evelyn.
