Chapter 230: Waiting for what? - I

It took a long time for her daughter to calm down and Evelyn did not hurry her up. Arabella needed to find the safety and recognize it before she could think of stopping her crying.

So on the way to exit the mall and the entire car ride, she had to listen to the painful sobs of her daughter and do nothing but pat her back.

Only when they reached home and once Arabella was in her room, did Evelyn pry her tiny fingers off of her dress and make her daughter pull away.

"No.." Arabella hiccuped and shook her head. "You.." she sniffed and made grabby hands to her mother while the big tears fell from her eyes to the chubby cheeks.

"And I am right here, baby," Evelyn did not give in. "Alessia is not here, okay? It’s just you and mama and Iona."

Arabella sniffed loudly and her mouth twisted and a brutal cry left her mouth. "I was scared, mummy. I w-was.."

"I know," Evelyn gave in and hugged her baby, "I would never allow this to be repeated again. Okay? No one would ever do this again to you."

Arabella sniffed and did not let go of her mother. Her little, soft, and trembling arms were wrapped around her mother’s neck, clinging on for support and comfort.

"Baby," Evelyn cooed, "how about you eat something and then we head to bed?"

The toddler in her arms shook her head before resuming the heart-wrenching sobs.

Evelyn sighed in irritation. Nothing that she could do would help her daughter and she hated that. How was it suddenly so difficult to distract a little toddler?

Her eyes moved to the pile of shopping bags in the corner of the room and then it hit her. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Baby?" when she received no reply, Evelyn had to forcefully remove Arabella from her. Once her daughter was in front of her, Evelyn wiped her tears and said, "How about we show the toys we bought to salvatore?"

"Salvato?" Arabella blinked and Evelyn chuckled.

"Sal-va-tore," Evelyn broke the word for her daughter. "He is the man who helped you eat. Also, we, Salvatore and I, have to talk about something with you, alright?"

"Noo.." Arabella whined and shook her head. The big, bulky tears returned, making Evelyn panic.

"Oh my god," she gasped, "I don’t think they packed the Pikachu!"

Arabella’s face twisted into a horrified expression. "What?"

Evelyn nodded her head, "come, we need to check!"

Her daughter darted away from her and into the direction of the bags at the speed of light. Her daughter frantically opened the bags of toys and dived into them until she found the said Pikachu.

"Here it is!" She screamed as she raised the Pikachu high into the ceiling, trying to show it to her mother. "Pikachu!"

They spent all their time until dinner going through the various dresses and teddy bears that her daughter had bought.

To say that she finally felt accomplished like a mother was an understatement. Knowing that she had had all the riches in the world while growing up and a lot of money in the bank that could not give the least to her daughter, hurt her to the bottom of her heart.

Now when she looked at her daughter’s closet and room only to find it filled to the brim with her favorite things brought her satisfaction and content.

"Ready for dinner?" Evelyn brushed the ends of the dress to straighten it out and Arabella nodded.

It was finally time for dinner and Evelyn was going to get it over with very quickly so that she could take her to bed and get the day off her shoulders.

She walked down the stairs with her daughter happily skipping seemingly having forgotten about what had happened.

Finally, she breathed out a sigh of relief when she saw her child smile and jump on the ground from the last step happily.

They made it to the dining room and Evelyn helped her daughter into the high chair before settling in beside her.

"Do you think he would like my dress?" Arabella shyly mumbled the words and looked down at her fingers entangled with each other.

Aww, "of course, he would!" Evelyn pinched her cheeks. "Why would he not? You look so cute, I wanna eat this little baby.`` She took an animated bute from her cheek making Arabella laugh loudly and squeal as she tried to push her mother away.

"Stop, you monster!"

"Monster?" Evelyn shrieked in fake anger, "how dare you? You have angered me now!" she roared before tickling her daughter and laughing at her joyous giggles.

Moments like this made her think that they had gone back to life where it was just the two of them. The life way there was no stress on them and things were not as complicated as now they seemed to be.

"I am hungry,’ arabella voiced out her opinion after sometime while swinging her legs on a high chair.

Evelyn sighed and looked at Marco who was standing at the end of the dining room. He also looked like he had no clue and was continuing to dial the number of Salvatore’s head of the security guard.

"Is no one picking up?" She blurted out in frustration. "Did you try the number of Michelle or Dante?"

Marco nodded, "I have but it seems that unfortunately none of them are available to pick the calls."

How the hell did that happen? Most of them were almost always available and if they were not it only called for trouble.

"Could you get her food, please?" Resigned, Evelyn just asked for the food that her child was supposed to have. It had been almost 40 minutes that they had been waiting patiently and she could take it no more.

Making sure that arabella had eaten well and after a quick bath was tucked in, Evelyn went to the living room and waited.

Salvatore would have to explain this.
