Chaos' Heir-Chapter 1100: Defeated
Khan felt unable to divert his eyes and senses from the images on the underwater lake's surface. They claimed his attention, and his curiosity added power to that seemingly instinctive urge.
The giant humanoid figures flew through the universe, walking alongside planets in the emptiness of space. Their images conveyed a deep, unfathomable power that turned into anger when a storm of flies dared to invade their domain.
Khan would have recognized the Nak even without his personal experiences. The images weren't detailed but carried meanings that overcame language barriers and similar minor details. He felt the Nak's invasion, as well as the affront the giants experienced.
A battle ensued. The flies used energy beams and other magical attacks while the giants fought everything off with their bare bodies. Their clash affected all the nearby planets, scarring them forever and destroying their future, and each death unleashed polluting explosions that nothing could remove.
It soon became clear to the giants that the invaders had no interest in winning. Their goal was to spread their strange, polluting energy to anything they touched, and victory or defeat wouldn't affect that outcome.
Nevertheless, the giants kept fighting out of anger and pride. They couldn't let invasions go unpunished, and a new feeling gained life as they learned more about that mystical energy. Pure curiosity took shape, which quickly transformed into greed.
That thing, that mana was pure and crystalline power. It gave flies the means to contend with giants, so it could do much more in the latter's hands. That was their chance to grow even further and stretch their domain to the far reaches of the universe.
The images had a hypnotic effect. Khan could feel himself grow more absorbed in them with each passing second. His agency dwindled, but his brain let it happen, distracted by other thoughts.
Even while engrossed in the green movie, Khan kept absorbing information, cross-referencing it with his now-vast knowledge in the field. He knew the Nak had struck everywhere, even attacking species that already wielded mana. The Niqols were one example since the Nak were fine with just causing mutations.
However, the giants seemed different. They weren't a species powerless against a superior enemy. They looked stronger than the Thilku Empire, overwhelming the Nak with powers that matched the mana.
Khan didn't guess that on his own. The images spoke to his mind, conveying knowledge and meanings without requiring words. He understood more than what scientific reports could explain, prompting a question.
"How did you fight the Nak without mana?" Khan asked.
"There are powers as ancient as the galaxy," The voice responded. "Energy sources older than mana but with the might to contend with it."
The green video changed. The casualties had been countless, mainly on the Nak's side, but the war had ended. The giants were few in number but wielded immense power, and their victory had added another tool to their arsenal.
"We merged our bloodline with the Nak's mana," The voice explained, "Improving it. Enhancing it. We changed, uncovering new frontiers, and wars ensued."
The giants started using their new power against their own species. Each evolved in a different direction, and only battle could decide who was right.
The clashes among the giants created shockwaves that stretched for entire star systems, worsening their already terrible state after the war against the Nak. Most battles ended with mutual destruction, but those creatures didn't stop.
The spectacle of green lights became unclear for the first time since the start of the video. The new powers wielded by the giants looked too great to replicate, or the lake didn't want Khan to learn about them. He unconsciously realized that point, but his mind had grown dull, suppressing his paranoia.

Yet, the video stabilized in time to show the end of the internal conflict. The quadrants had become barren, turning lifeless after an unclearly long period of colossal wars. The giants were still there, but all floated horizontally through space, killed by a conflict of their own making. All but one.
A far smaller giant still moved. The creature was only a fraction of its fellow specimens. Truthfully, it looked closer to the invading flies, but its bloodline didn't lie.
The internal war had been too great for the tiny giant, but its end provided a great opportunity. The creature had also merged with the Nak's mana, and the quadrants now had what remained of its fellow specimens' research.
So, the tiny giant gathered what remained of its species and settled on a suitable planet, taking time to absorb each mighty corpse. The process transformed it, increasing its size while providing additional, incredible powers.
The tiny giant's influence became able to stretch through space, accumulating information at an unfathomable rate. It also became more insidious, affecting layers of existence that simple mana couldn't reach. The creature underwent a qualitative change, but the work wasn't done.
"But the work isn't done, Heir to the Nak's Chaos," The voice said. "We must complete our transformation, an evolution that transcends might and mana. The final evolution for our species."
Khan didn't reply. He felt unable to. His dull mind instinctively realized the increasing danger but failed to react. The lake had hypnotized him, putting him in a quasi-trance.
"For we have spent too long growing and learning," The voice continued. "We are ready to reclaim and expand our domain, fulfilling our species' wish. For you are the only piece the Nak didn't provide us with."
The underwater lake brightened, intensifying its influence on Khan's mind. That invasive energy seeped deeper into him now that his conscious barriers were lowered, but that didn't make him defenseless.
The invasive energy was almost impossible to spot, but the chaos element didn't care. As soon as Khan's mana sniffed a single trace of that influence, it started raging, sending destructive waves everywhere to fend off that invasion.
That was nothing short of blind destruction, which strangely succeeded. The invasive energy failed to take hold of Khan's body, but his mind remained cut off from his wild urges.
"Why do you oppose us, Nak's Heir?" The voice asked. "We will defeat the Nak and their enemy. We will defeat the galaxy and universe. We will complete the work you are afraid of failing."
Those words dealt a heavy blow to Khan's innate defenses. It seemed his mind swayed to the voice's side, opposing the chaos element. Nevertheless, the latter rebelled against that pressure, continuing to keep Khan safe.
"Why do you fight, Chaos' Heir?" The voice questioned as the lake generated new, clearer images. "Aren't you already defeated?"
Khan's eyes had become unfocused, but the new image triggered a spark of attention. It shouldn't have been possible, but Monica's whole figure had appeared on that green surface, perfectly imitating all her features and updating Khan's senses about them.
