CONRI’S POV

Lucian insisted on dropping me off at the site before he went to work early in the morning. The workers were already at the site and I saw Everest wave from the office door as I alighted from the back seat of the car.

"Have a good day and don’t forget to eat, "Conri spoke.

"You too. "Lucian winked at me, making me shake my head and I closed the door of his car. They left the site, and I walked to the office container.

"Today, we are groundbreaking at the construction site. Everyone is here, hence there is no need to wait," Everest announced as soon as I sat down at my desk.

"I agree. I have been meaning to ask, where do you get food for the workers ?"

"Elder Zaya organized a meal stand that will be today onwards. Do you remember old lady Shanique, she the one who will cook for us"

"She is still alive, "I gasped. Old lady Shanique was my godmother’s gardener and cook.

Everest nodded and then added, "You should have not let them exile you, Conri. We were behind you and supported you"

"Too much was at stake than Everest. I needed to protect all of you," I explained.

"How have you guys been surviving all these years? Old man Benjamin has been tight-lipped and rarely told me anything as I worked at his pub"

"What is Lobo looking?’ I pressed further.

"He wants to find another Adora crystal and increase his power," Everest whispered.

I banged the table and stood up. Running my hand through my hair in frustration, I paced up and down. Deep in thought, I felt Dolf awaken.

"We need to get to the KODA council and access the crystal," Dolf suggested

"The last time we did, Lupe ended up dead, " I informed my wolf.

"Our powers can only awaken if we access the crystal. But for us to protect our mate we need to be fully mated. " Dolf stated.

I have always felt that the day I accessed the Koda Crystal room was the day I doomed Lupe. After we left the room, Ralph Isla looked scared, and the guard at the door went missing two days later. On the third day, Lupe was dead. Something was amiss and the dots were not connecting them. I was laced with grief and remorse and never pushed for the truth.

" Conri," Everest’s voice interrupted my thoughts. "Whatever you need, I will always be here. I will assist you however you want. "I could tell that the words had a meaning behind them. It means he would help me defeat Alpha Lobo.

I nodded and then stated, "We need a plan. I need some time to sort things out. I also have to make sure Lucian is protected. Lupe’s death was all my fault"

"Fuck I knew it." Everest cursed. "The beast that Hunter keeps is the one that killed Lupe. It feeds on the Cinnabar crystal that is filled with sulfur. I have no idea what dark magic Alpha Lobo is using, but that rogue wolf has extraordinary strength. "Everest whispered.

I walked over and closed the door of the container.

"Lupe was no weak wolf. She put up a fight with her killer but was no match for it. I walked to the site and smelt the sulfur, but I was unsure as to what it was. He killed her to push me away from the Alpha position, " I growled.

"Over the years, we have been keeping a watch over Apha Lobo. To find evidence and remove him from the pack"

"Who are we?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Your Godmother Elder Zaya, Benjamin, Ralph Isla, and Lupe Elijah ’’ Everest smiled warmly.

"You work for the KODA council members ?"
