Chapter 1514: Chapter 1522: Blacklisted

He even wondered, if Jane Sampson were his real sister, and if Julie Sampson didn’t exist in this world, would this family still have turned out the way it has now?

Unfortunately, in this world, there truly are no "what ifs."

Watching as Jane Sampson walked out of the family home without looking back, Bright Sampton even felt a sense of relief.

It was as if he had finally been waiting for this day to come.

After leaving home, Bright Sampton immediately made a phone call to James Black. At this moment, what Jane Sampson needed most was company, but the one she needed most was likely still James Black.

After several calls, the phone was finally answered, but it was James Black’s subordinate who picked up. Upon hearing Bright Sampton mention that he had something important to discuss with James Black, the subordinate then took the mobile phone to look for James Black.

Bright Sampton could faintly hear James Black’s voice from the other end, seemingly asking whose call it was. So, the moment James Black took the phone, Bright Sampton quickly said, "Brother-in-law, it’s me, Bright Sampton."

James Black acknowledged with a low "hmm." He had already seen the caller ID.

"What’s up?" James Black asked. He was Bright Sampton’s brother-in-law, not his biological brother, so it was unlikely that Bright Sampton would call him without a reason.

Or rather, there simply wasn’t anyone in this world who would call James Black purely just to chat, including Peter Gingery.

This, of course, also included Jane Sampson.

Realizing this fact annoyed James Black to no small extent.

"This morning, Dad used my phone to call my sister back home. He mentioned Julie’s pregnancy and asked my sister to convince you and Old Master Black to help Julie marry into the Chip Family. My sister refused, and then Julie said some things." Bright Sampton briefly recounted to James Black the things Julie and Father Sampton had said.

After finishing, Bright Sampton let out a soft sigh. "My sister drove off alone. She must be feeling really down right now. If you have time, maybe give her a call to chat with her or go home and keep her company."

"So your family has now officially decided to cut ties with her?" James Black frowned slightly. He hadn’t expected things to take such an extreme turn, nor had he expected Jane Sampson to show not the slightest intention of compromising this time.

At the end of the day, Jane’s heart still harbored resentment towards Julie for angering Old Sir Sampton to death. It was also because Granny Sampton had opened her heart and genuinely started to love this granddaughter again that Jane Sampson no longer kept all her resentment bottled up inside.

James Black thought, just as Bright Sampton said, Jane Sampson must be feeling very upset right now.

She seemed like a carefree little bird, yet deep down she was just a sensitive and fragile little white rabbit.

"Brother-in-law, can I ask something out of curiosity?" Bright Sampton said. "My parents’ phone numbers, including Julie’s—are they blocked on my sister’s phone? This morning, my parents tried calling her, but it kept showing as busy. My sister said she was on the phone with Grandma, but I remember my parents have tried calling her several times before and couldn’t get through either."

"Yes, I blocked them, but she doesn’t know," James Black admitted. At first, he’d diverted calls from the irrelevant members of the Sampton Family to his own phone. Later on, he got fed up too and just blocked them outright.

"No need to tell my sister about it. After all, there’s no need for any contact in the future," Bright Sampton said with a satisfied smile. "Brother-in-law, thank you. Going forward, please continue to take good care of her."

Hearing a simple "hmm" from James Black, Bright Sampton finally felt reassured enough to end the call.
