"NOOO!!!" Amy howled seeing Ash on the ground. His blood was spilling all over the floor, making the two kids cry more.
Ash managed to jump right at Amy before Vanessa fired two shots hitting Ash on the shoulder and lower back. He spitted blood and held onto Amy’s hand.
"Ash, please stay with me," Amy said while crying. She gently tapped his cheek, desperately trying to keep him awake as he appeared to be slipping away.
Ash smiled at Amy and then at Lia and Avery who were crying hard behind their mother. "Till death do us part, my best friend. I love you from the start till the end. I will now go and be with the love of my life, Ava."
"Shut up! You are not going anywhere! We agreed that you will stay on the farm. So die there, not here!" Amy immediately turned over Ash and used both her hands to put pressure on Ash’s lower back.
On the opposite side of the room, Vanessa slumped on the floor. She dropped the gun and was shaking hard. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"I-I didn’t mean to. I-I got s-startled when A-Ash moved. It’s his fault, I told all of you to not move!" Vanessa stammered as she stayed on her spot.
Amy kept on looking between Ash and Vanessa, to keep an eye on her. "Lia, sweetheart, would you show Mommy how brave you are and grab that blanket for me?" Amy said as she pointed to the blanket on the hospital bed.
The little girl wiped her tears and quickly took the blanket and gave it to Amy. Amy used it to cover and apply pressure to Ash’s gunshot wound on his lower back.
She glanced at Lia once more and instructed, "Now, sweetheart, take off your jacket, scrunch it into a ball, and place it on Papa’s shoulder, just like what Mommy is doing."
Lia nodded and mimicked Amy’s actions.
"Press hard baby," Amy urged, and to her astonishment, Avery drew nearer and mimicked his older sister.
"Vanessa, please I beg you, open the door and call for help. I don’t want Ash to die here, please..." Amy pleaded, but Vanessa simply gazed at her, as though she hadn’t heard a word.
"Vanessa!" Amy shouted startling the woman. But instead of opening the door, she slowly reached out for the gun with a shaking hand and spoke with a trembling voice. "I-I can’t do that. I will go to jail, and you will be with Henry. I wouldn’t let you have him back."
Vanessa picked up the gun and the door of the room swung open without warning. Vanessa’s hand was kicked hard making her drop the gun once more.
The next thing that Vanessa saw was a large muscular arm seizing her by the neck before forcing her against the wall.
"I will never be yours, Vanessa. You disgust me." Tom said.
Rei, Anton, and the hospital security guards surrounded Vanessa and Tom. Doctors and nurses rushed in as soon as Tom kicked the door hard. The medical personnel immediately attended to Ash and brought him out of the room.
When Tom arrived and saw a lot of people outside Ash’s room, it made him furious. Everyone was just standing in the hallway waiting for the police to arrive while the people inside were in danger. His anger and adrenaline went off the roof which gave him the strength to open the door with just one hard kick.
"H-Henry, I swear I looked for you everywhere when you fell off the ship. I am sorry it took a while for me to find you. Let us go home please–" Vanessa uttered but her words only made him more furious.
"I did not fall. I jumped. You are a psychopath, Vanessa," Tom said while slowly tightening his grip on her neck making her cough.
Rei grasped Tom’s arm, "Bro, let her go. Don’t stain your hands with her blood. Go to your family. We’ll take care of her."
Instead of being released right away, Vanessa was harshly thrown to the other side of the room where she collided with some medical equipment before tumbling to the ground.
Tom then turned his attention to Amy, who was sobbing and embracing her two children. Their hands and clothes were smeared with Ash’s blood.
Amy, overwhelmed by panic and distress, didn’t pay much attention to who had entered the room. Her sole concern had been her gravely injured husband and her children, who were in danger and at Vanessa’s mercy.
As soon as the medical team attended to Ash, Amy promptly collected her children onto her lap, holding them tightly to make them feel secure in her arms.
"Shh, my darlings. Everything’s going to be alright; Mommy’s here," Amy whispered through her tears as she showered her children with kisses.
"Amy..." Tom spoke weakly as he crouched down.
Amy looked at him and pursed her lips to prevent herself from wailing loudly. The two stared at each other until Amy took courage and finally spoke out, "Henry..."
Henry smiled as his tears fell down uncontrollably. He extended his arm to Amy asking for her hand but she did not take it. Instead, she pulled his shirt towards her, making Henry fall forward.
With her right arm wrapped tightly around Henry and her left holding her children, Amy exclaimed, "You should have run to me sooner, you fucking foolish man!"
Henry chuckled and finally enveloped Amy, Lia, and Avery in his arms, "I know, I’m sorry to keep you waiting, love."
Meanwhile, Vanessa was handcuffed by the hospital’s security team and was taken away. Rei and Anton watched the heartwarming scene with tears in their eyes, shamelessly sobbing in the corner of the room as they patiently observed.
Henry pulled away, "Let’s get you and the children cleaned up. I left the others with Mary and Sandra."
Amy nodded, and Rei and Anton approached them to assist Amy with Lia and Avery.
When Rei and Anton took the kids, Amy pulled Henry’s hand to stop him, "I am not dreaming, right? Tell me that this is all real. That when I wake up tomorrow you will still be by my side."
Henry smirked and cupped Amy’s face, "You are not dreaming nor this is a nightmare. Your ugly ex-husband is back from the dead and you will need to bear his scarred face for a little bit longer."
Amy smiled wide with teary eyes. That’s all that she needed to hear and all the pain that she carried for five years is now gone with Henry back at her side.
