Chapter 330: Everything is Possible

Mary went to the waiting room and announced to everyone that Amy was awake and ready to talk to the forensic pathologist together with Uncle Trev.

When they reached the morgue’s hallway, Mary halted and faced Amy, "Babe, Uncle Trev, please prepare yourselves. We were told that Henry was inside the pumping station when the explosion happened right?" Mary asked Amy and Trev causing them to nod at the same time.

"OK, so please keep in mind what can happen to a human body if caught in an explosion like that. I want you both to brace yourselves," Mary added before starting to walk again.

She and Anton already talked to the forensic pathologist and even though they haven’t seen anything yet since they are not family, the doctor at least was able to describe and explain to them what happened. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Ash wrapped his arms around Amy to support her in walking through the morgue’s door after seeing her trembling, while Mary held her hands. Behind them was Uncle Trev, Anton, and Rei did the same, they both held onto the old man’s arms expecting him to collapse once he saw Henry’s state.

"Pleasure to meet you Mrs. Welsh, Mr. Welsh," the forensic pathologist greeted, before taking a box handed by one of his assistants. "Are you ready?" the doctor asked making Amy and Trev nod.

"Mrs. Welsh, I need you to tell us if this wedding band belongs to your husband..." the doctor then handed a platinum ring in the ziplock bag to Amy.

Amy took out the wedding band and check the inside of it. Both their rings have the words "This I promise you..." engraved on the inner part of them.

Amy felt her knees weak and took two steps back making Ash and Mary catch her swiftly. Her whole body felt cold and her breathing was shallow. She can’t even feel her heart anymore. If her heart has legs, then she would think that her heart has left her.

"T-This is Henry’s r-ring," Amy stuttered in her reply and tears once again flowed from her eyes.

"I’m sorry you have to go through this, Mrs. Welsh. There are two more items that we need to you identify," the doctor then handed her another ziplock back with a stainless steel watch inside.

"Oh, God!" Amy did not have to see it up close to know that it was Henry’s watch for it is the same Patek Philippe Nautilus stainless steel watch that she gifted him before going on tour.

Ash hugged Amy as she sobbed on his chest wetting his shirt which he doesn’t mind. On the other hand, Anton and Rei were also comforting Uncle Trev. Even though he is not crying as much as Amy, they both know that deep inside he is truly hurt and is in unimaginable pain.

"Mrs. Welsh, I apologize but we must hear your confirmation, if that a yes?" The doctor said after letting Amy cry for a moment.

"Y-Yes, it is my husband’s watch," Amy tried her best to answer for she already promised herself to be strong for their family.

"Thank you. Just one more Mrs. Welsh. We found this... uhm... worn near the... uhm... the watch and ring... erhm..." The doctor cleared his throat after seeing Amy frown and looked completely confused by his explanation.

Even he doesn’t know how to explain because of how morbid the scenario was, so he took a deep breath before continuing. "We found the shoe, near the watch and ring. They are attached to a completely burnt leg and arm. It was so burnt that it can no longer be used for DNA testing. I’m sorry ma’am," the doctor said.

"That is ridiculous! In this modern day, everything is possible! Enough of showing us my nephew’s belongings! I want to see him now! Show him to us and we will tell you if it is him or not!" Uncle Trev yelled at the doctor and his assistants.

"Alright, Mr. Welsh. That is what we will do next but we need to do this step-by-step. Please tell us if this is Mr. Henry Welsh’s shoe," The doctor urged as she show Amy and Trev the leather shoe that they found from a burnt leg.

"Y-Yes... I-It is m-my h-husband’s," Amy stammered in answering the doctor and cried more, making Uncle Trev more infuriated.

"Goddamnit! You are stressing my niece more! If something happens to her I will sue you! I will sue this hospital!" Trev exclaimed.

"I am so sorry sir, we are just following the hospital’s standard protocol," the doctor replied.

"I-It’s ok, Uncle. I have to do this," Amy wiped her tears and tried to compose herself.

"Are you sure dear? You don’t have to look. I can do this for you," Uncle Trev offered.

Amy shook her head and circled her arm to Uncle Trev’s waist, "Let’s do this together uncle. I can do this if you are by my side."

Trev hugged Amy and kiss the top of her head, "Alright dear, please be strong for our family. Hold on to me." Trev then gave the doctor the go signal to open the mortuary chamber.

"No! Henry!" Amy wailed and slumped to the floor as soon as she saw the severely burnt leg and arm.

"This is absurd!!! Are you trying to kill us with grief? Where are the other parts of him!?" Trev roared in anger.

This time it was Anton who answered, "Uncle, there are so many bodies and body parts in there that no one can recognize anymore. They took this because it was wearing the shoe, watch, and ring, something that can be used to identify the owner of the body part."

"I am sorry, but this is the best that we can do since DNA testing is not possible," the doctor butted in.

"Anton, I bed you, have all the body there go through dental matching. I want to make sure that my nephew is really gone. I beg you," Trev said before losing control of his emotions. He sobbed loudly as the situation finally synced in.

"I am on it," Rei uttered before storming out of the room.
