CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 218: Keep Me Going
Rei, Ava, and Ash dedicated a considerable amount of time analyzing the evidence Vanessa provided, resulting in them working throughout the night. Exhausted, Ava and Rei eventually dozed off in Ash’s living room.
Their slumber was abruptly interrupted by Beethoven’s barking and playful leaps around the sofa, as he affectionately licked each of their faces. As Rei opened his eyes, he caught a whiff of the enticing scent of coffee and bacon.
Noticing that Ava and Ash were still asleep on the adjacent sofa, Rei grew curious about the person cooking at such an early hour. He rose from his seat and made his way toward the kitchen, only to overhear a familiar voice engaged in conversation with another woman.
Seeing the person talking, Rei was filled with confusion and he couldn’t help but ask, "Sandra! What brings you here?" His mind swayed between questioning whether this encounter was a mere figment of his imagination or an actual reality.
The housekeeper approached Rei and explained, "Sir, please accept my apologies, but your phone keeps on ringing which prompted me to answer it. It was Madam Sandra on the other end, and she seemed quite concerned. I know her so I informed her of your whereabouts. I hope I haven’t caused any trouble."
Understanding the situation, Rei responded, "Oh, I see. Thank you for that. It’s not a problem at all; don’t worry about it."
With a chuckle, Sandra reached out for Rei and planted a gentle kiss on his cheek. Concern laced her voice as she spoke, "I was so worried about you. You did not join us for dinner last night, and when I checked your cabin before going to bed, you were not there. This morning, your team informed me they had not seen you since last night, and you were not answering your phone."
Rei’s smirk remained as he returned Sandra’s affection with a kiss on her forehead. "I apologize for causing you to worry. We were engrossed in our work here. Please, don’t mention this to Amy and Henry. Ash is collaborating with us and we’ve made significant progress thanks to the evidence he discovered."
Sandra’s concern persisted as she expressed, "You work far too much. I am worried you might get sick. I did not bring my car because I knew you had yours. Let me drive you home right now, and we can afford to be late for work. I have already informed Mary and Anton that we will be late. It is their turn to cover for us, especially after what happened yesterday." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Sandra firmly asserted her decision, leaving no room for Rei to disagree. After giving instructions to Ash’s housekeeper about what to tell him once he woke up, the two of them departed.
Rei’s cabin, situated on Henry’s property, was a 45-minute drive away from Rei’s penthouse. Weary and fatigued, Rei dozed off in the passenger seat, prompting Sandra’s sympathy as she observed his exhausted state and the deepening dark circles under his eyes.
Upon arriving at the mansion, Sandra swiftly parked Rei’s car in front of his cabin and gently awakened him. Sensing his weariness, she helped him out of the car and guided him to bed, assisting in removing his shoes and jacket.
However, when Rei claimed, "I’m actually not sleepy anymore. I think the rest I got at Ash’s house and in the car are enough, I have the energy to keep me going for today," Sandra’s expression turned into a frown.
Aware that Rei was only making excuses because he wanted to immediately resume working, Sandra shot him a piercing glare while crossing her arms, silently conveying her disapproval and concern. She held her gaze for a significant moment, emphasizing the importance of enough rest and sleep.
As they locked eyes, Rei’s apprehension grew, causing him to nervously bite his inner lip. The intensity of the situation escalated as they found themselves engaged in a staring and glaring competition.
Worried that Sandra might be angry with him, Rei’s inner turmoil deepened, uncertain of how to break the tension that had enveloped them.
Sandra stopped from crossing her arms as she put both hands on her waist before uttering, "Tell me Rei, are you planning on dying because if you do, I will be happy to help you. What do you prefer? A rope, knife, or gun? Oh, I think a gun would be much easier and faster. I actually have a 9mm pistol in my room, do you want me to get it for you?"
Rei’s gulp was audible as he registered Sandra’s sharp sarcasm and the seriousness behind her words. Feeling the weight of her concern, he stammered in response, "I-I was just trying to reassure you that I’m fine and that I don’t need any more sleep or rest."
Sandra’s frustration simmered as she retorted, her voice tinged with a mix of worry and exasperation, "Really? Then prove it! Show me that you have enough energy to tackle the day without risking your health."
"Uhm... How will I prove it?" Rei asked, his uncertainty evident in his voice as he tried to grasp what Sandra was asking of him.
"Take off your clothes right now," Sandra commanded with a firm voice.
Rei stood frozen in front of Sandra, his jaw dropping in utter disbelief at her statement. He was stupefied by what she had just said, struggling to comprehend the seriousness and audacity of her words. Thoughts raced through his mind as he tried to make sense of the situation and find the appropriate response.
After a moment of stunned silence, Rei managed to find his voice, his tone filled with a mix of shock and confusion. "Sandra, I... I don’t understand. Why would you ask me to do something like that? What are you saying?"
"You heard me, I said take off your clothes and let us test that body of yours if what you are saying is true. You said you don’t need rest huh? If you have the energy to keep you going today, then show me," Sandra reiterated.
