CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 212: Normal Again
It appears like the sky and clouds above are in favor of Amy getting out of the hospital this day. If it was really up to Amy, she would have gone home yesterday for she feels way better now... and bored of course!
After the tragic loss of her parents and brother, Amy had been constantly occupied and rarely had any moments of rest, a contrast to her experience in the hospital. Henry kept a close watch on her, being extremely vigilant and treating her as if she were physically disabled.
Don’t get her wrong, she appreciates how involved Henry is in taking care of her. She enjoys his attentiveness in fulfilling her needs, accommodating her food preferences, assisting with feeding, and even helping her with tasks like going to the bathroom, even though she is fully capable of managing on her own.
While she appreciates his concern for her, she also feels overwhelmed and suffocated by his excessive attentiveness. From her perspective, she believes that Henry’s worry is unfounded and that he is unnecessarily fretting over her, as she considers her condition to be less severe than he perceives it to be.
Henry opposed Amy’s discharge from the hospital as he insisted on her undergoing a comprehensive executive check-up before leaving. Despite the doctors’ assurance that it was unnecessary, Henry ultimately won the argument, and Amy reluctantly gave in to his demands in order to secure his agreement for her to go home.
As anticipated, the test results came back normal, confirming that there were no underlying health issues. Thus, Henry had to honor his part of the agreement and allow Amy to be discharged from the hospital as they had initially agreed on.
Amy was so excited to get out of there, to feel normal again. Despite the heartbreaking loss of their unborn child, she reminded herself of the need to move forward. Amy recognized the importance of doing so not just for the sake of Jayson and Jena, but also for her own well-being and for the sake of her relationship with Henry.
When all of their stuff was already collected by Dave and securely packed into the car, it was time for Amy and Henry to leave as well. Amy was about to stand to walk out of the room but as expected, Henry stopped her.
"Hold on, Amy..." Amy halted and looked at Henry with a creased forehead. Henry was looking at the door waiting for something or maybe someone. Amy rolled her eyes as soon as she saw what he was waiting for.
"Seriously? I can walk, you know..." Amy exclaimed, displaying her annoyance at Henry for insisting on getting a wheelchair for her to sit on.
She felt frustrated since he already made her undergo a lot of unnecessary tests and still do not trust her with this simple task of walking on her own.
"Just until we reach the car, love. I promise once we’re home, you can freely walk around the house and the garden," Henry coaxed Amy, showing his sweetest smile. He hoped that his reassurance would convince her to stop arguing and comply with his request.
Amy let out a sigh, fully aware that Henry would persist until she complied. However, she had been obediently following his instructions ever since they arrived at the hospital. And this time that she knows that she was better, she was determined not to make it easy for him to get what he wanted. She resolved to assert herself and challenge his control over her decisions.
"I’ll sit in the wheelchair, but only under one condition," Amy declared, placing her hands firmly on her waist.
Henry blinked multiple times, caught off guard by Amy’s unexpected bargaining. It hadn’t occurred to him that she would negotiate over such a simple matter. Assuming that she might ask for something like food, as she often did, he agreed to her condition, curious to see what she had in mind.
"Alright, love. What is it?" Henry asked.
"We will go to Bellory’s office first before we go home," Amy proposed.
"Absolutely not!" Henry objected quickly, firmly expressing his disagreement.
Without saying a word, Amy walked out of the room, not waiting for Henry to catch up. Henry’s eyes widened in surprise, left bewildered by the turn of events.
Quickly regaining his composure, Henry swiftly pursued her, urgently calling out. "Amy, wait!" he exclaimed, gently grasping her arm to halt her in her tracks.
"Let’s go home, just like you wanted since you don’t want me to go to my own office," Amy retorted, her voice tinged with annoyance.
"Listen, love. It’s not that I don’t want you to go to your office, I just want to make sure you are safe."
"Can’t you see that I am perfectly capable of walking on my own? Or are you intentionally choosing not to acknowledge that?" Amy questioned, her voice trembling with a mix of frustration and disappointment.
Henry scratched his head in exasperation. "Fine! We’ll go to our building, but you’re not leaving that wheelchair!" he nearly yelled, struggling to contain his annoyance at Amy’s stubbornness.
Amy furrowed her brow. "Are you really sure about that?" she asked, seeking confirmation from Henry.
"Of course, I’m not sure! But you’re being so stubborn. Goodness, you just got out of the hospital, and now you want to work already? What’s wrong with you?" Henry exclaimed in utter dismay.
"Firstly, we are still inside the hospital. Secondly, I won’t be working; I just want to check on ’our’ people, the ones whom we employed. And thirdly, I am perfectly fine, as the doctors have already confirmed! There’s nothing wrong with me!" Amy responded, pausing for a few seconds before she moved closer to Henry and hugged his arm while laying her head on him.
Henry stiffened at first, caught off guard by the sudden change in tone, as he thought they were engaged in a heated argument.
"I am fine because of you, my love. You’ve taken such good care of me ever since the night we met, even on the island, and here in the hospital. You’ve always been by my side, and I am truly grateful for that," Amy continued, her voice filled with warmth and gratitude.
"I just want to say hello to everyone and show them that I’m okay. You didn’t let anyone else visit me except for Mary and my cousins. I could have received a lot of flowers and food from my employees, you know," Amy teased, pouting playfully, causing Henry to burst into laughter.
"How could I possibly say no to this adorable face? Plus if you want flowers and food, I’ll buy them all for you," Henry remarked, gently pinching Amy’s cheeks and playfully pulling them apart.
Amy giggled and then tiptoed to kiss Henry on the cheek. "Thank you, my love, for always understanding me," she expressed with gratitude.
"Anytime, love. But you’re still going to sit in the wheelchair," Henry stated firmly, addressing Amy’s earlier condition. He then turned to Dave, who was standing nearby along with Mitch, both observing their banter with a hint of awkwardness.
"Dave, please call security and ask them to prepare a wheelchair for us. Also, tell them to clear the way for us at the front. The VIP elevator doesn’t have access to Bellory’s floor. Those relentless reporters are still flocking around my building," Henry instructed. He paused momentarily, deep in thought, before continuing.
"Mitch, get in touch with Rick and ask him to coordinate with Theo. I need Theo to arrange for access from the VIP elevator to Amy’s office," Henry added, clarifying the specific task to Mitch for the necessary arrangements.
"What? You’re going to drill a hole in my newly renovated floor just for you to access my office? There are already four elevators there, why not just use one of those?" Amy scoffed, finding it hard to believe the extent of Henry’s childishness at times.
"And why not? The VIP access would be the fifth elevator. Besides, aren’t you curious about the adventures we can have inside it?" Henry replied, wagging his eyebrows playfully, trying to lighten the mood.
"Henry!" Amy exclaimed, her face turning red as she became aware of the people around them. She glanced at Dave and Mitch, who was closest to them, and then at the nurses and Henry’s security team. Their attempts to avert their eyes confirmed their embarrassment at witnessing such a flirtatious moment. Amy quickly composed herself, feeling a mix of amusement and mild embarrassment.
Henry chuckled at Amy’s embarrassment, finding her reaction cute and funny. He turned to the nurse and took the wheelchair from him, and brought it closer to Amy. "Now, as part of our deal, come and sit here before I resort to carrying you like a sack of rice and taking you straight home," he teased, a playful glint in his eyes.
Knowing that there was an element of truth in his playful threat, Amy wasted no time and promptly sat in the wheelchair, not wanting to push her luck any further.
