CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 206: Hide and Disappear

The ladies were astonished upon seeing Henry together with Anton, each holding savory breakfast in their hands. Amy’s eyes sparkled with excitement and her stomach growled upon catching a whiff of the enticing aroma of the food Henry bought for her.

It was different for Mary, if only she can, she wanted to hide and disappear. She wasn’t prepared to see or talk to Anton at that moment, although she knew she would have to face him in the near future, just not right now.

"Anton, good thing you are here, you can go back to the office with Mary," Amy intentionally effused which made her earn a glare from Mary.

The two women locked eyes, exchanging meaningful glances that seemed to communicate a deep understanding of each other’s thoughts.

’What are you doing? You b!tch!’ Mary’s eyes widened in shock before squinting her eyes at Amy. She couldn’t believe her best friend would sell her out immediately, just right after her heartfelt confession.

’Go on best, this your chance to win Anton, don’t waste it stup!d!’ Amy waggles her eyebrows at Mary.

’I will kill you!’ Mary made her eyes even bigger as she pursed her lips and glare at Amy.

’You can do it! Don’t be shy!’ Amy winked at Mary as she hold her laugh. She was well aware of how irritated Mary was with her for urging her to be with Anton at that particular moment.

"I didn’t know you two can communicate telepathically," Henry mentioned as he arranges the food on the table.

Amy and Mary burst into laughter, suddenly realizing that their attempts to discreetly talk to each other had been far from subtle.

After breakfast, Mary expected the inevitable to happen but contrary to her assumption, Anton did not bring up the topic. He only mentioned things about work as he drives them to work.

The day went smoothly and the dreaded talk that Mary is fearful about didn’t happen at all and she was thankful to Anton for that. Mary was so distracted for all she did all day was think about Anton and his words when they were in the closet.

Thankfully her thoughts were suddenly cut off by a knock on her door.

"Mary, do you have a minute?" Josephine asked as she peek through the door.

"Just for a short while," Mary said without sparing a glance at the HR manager.

"This is Roana..." Josephine’s words trailed off upon seeing Mary lift her head and raised an eyebrow, with a hint of annoyance and irritation on her face.

"Okay... I figured you already know her. But I am here to offer some help. I know you are working double time and Roana is on her first day of training. She can help you with the paperwork if you want," Josephine offered.

Mary and Roana glance at each other knowing what to do, "I don’t need any help, this extra workload is a good distraction for me. Send her to Kevin since I tasked him to visit the sites today and give me an update.

I would be needing up-to-date pictures of the sites together with a written report then perhaps Roana can help Kevin with that. It would be good for her to meet other people," Mary coldly stated.

"Ookay, I think I get your point," Josephine said before turning to Roana. "What she meant is that it would be good training to increase your people skills if you will practice by meeting other people since you will be facing a lot of them in the HR department when the operation is in full swing."

Roana nodded before the two left Mary’s office and went directly to Kevin’s. Roana was nervous but she made sure to compose herself before facing the man they are suspecting to be working with the perpetrator.

As soon as Josephine and Kevin informed her of the tasks that she needs to do while assisting Kevin as they visit each branch that was still under renovation, they took off. The site inspection and Kevin seem to be normal, Roana did not see or notice anything suspicious at all.

When it was time to go back to the Bellory main office, Roana decided to work on the laptop provided to her by Bellory while sitting in the passenger seat, making it appear as if she was only after her job and not to spy on Kevin.

"You seem to be hard working huh? You are surprising me," Kevin blurted.

Roana’s forehead creased, "I don’t think I am working hard. I am just doing my job. That should not be a surprise to you." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"Yeah I know, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to pry but, you can’t blame other people to think that way," Kevin said in a sarcastic voice.

"What way?" Roana asked.

"Everyone is aware that you got employed because of your connection to Anton, and Mary dislikes you due to your past relationship with him," Anton confessed. "I apologize if it seems like I’m a gossipmonger, but I don’t believe in talking behind people’s backs, and I felt it was important to share the truth with you."

"That’s fine, I actually appreciate that you said it to my face instead of talking behind my back," Roana gave out her sweetest smile.

’Gotcha! It appears you’re quite the informer after all,’ Roana thought to herself silently.

As Roana reminded herself of all the things that Rei had taught her, she made a mental note to not forget to profile Kevin which is her first task from Rei and Anton. The two repeatedly made sure that she understood how profiling is important in their plan.

It will enable them to formulate their approach to Kevin and predict his next moves. Roana hid her notes about her findings regarding Kevin in her report to Mary in codes that only Rei and Anton would understand.

She continuously types her site visit report for Mary without Kevin suspecting anything. While typing she comfortably chats with Kevin trying to dig in more information about him.

"You know what boss Kevin, I really like how frank you are to me just like how a real friend should be. You can count that I will do the same to you if ever I hear someone talking behind your back," Roana convincingly told Kevin which he bought.

Roana patiently befriended Kevin, telling him about herself, even her child, and her life. She also sometimes asks things about him as if she was interested in his life. The two of them talked about a lot of things which has nothing to do with work making Kevin feel at ease around Roana.

Roana pats herself on the back mentally for accomplishing her most important task for the day, which was to get closer to Kevin.

When they got back to the office, they both went straight to the HR department, "Are you going to see Ms. Hart?" Roana asked.

"Yes, I have to inform her of the status of the sites so she can check the timeline on when we need to send the employees there for the test run," Kevin explained before they separate ways as he went straight to Josephine’s office while Roana went to her desk.

Roana took the opportunity to write in detail her report for Rei and Anton. All the things that Kevin does Roana made sure to note it; the people he talked to, the places he visits, and even things that he says that she thinks could be essential to their investigation. Every single action that Kevin did, she wrote it down.

She kept herself busy at her desk waiting for Kevin to come out of Josephine’s office and proceed with her next plan. She kept on waiting until more than an hour has passed and she cannot wait any longer so she packed up her things and walk out of the HR Department.

Before she can reach the door, Kevin came out of Josephine’s office with a scruffy look. She gaped but immediately fix her expression and smiled at Kevin who was fixing his messy hair.

’Oh my God, he is not only trying to flirt with Amy but also got through Josephine’s pants,’ Roana said to herself while trying to keep the smile on her face.

"Oh! I thought you went home," Kevin said utterly surprised to see her.

"I have to redo my report, Mary rejected it, saying it was not good enough," Roana lied, she has to make sure that Kevin would not think that she is on Amy and Henry’s side.

"Oh boy, do you want me to talk to her?" Kevin offered as they both walk out of the door.

"No need, her hate for me would not change and I have no intention of staying here for long. Are you going home?" Roana tried to pry more.

"Yes, where do you live? Perhaps I can drop you off at the nearest stop," Kevin offered which made Roana glad. The more time she spends with Kevin the more time she can spy on him.

"Alright if you insist, you can drop me off at the real estate office three blocks away from here. I will sign my contract lease today so I can move in as soon as I can," Roana lied again, making sure that he will not find out that she is currently living with Anton and Mary.
