CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 179: [Bonus - ]White Birds
The sun is setting and almost at the horizon but there was no sign of land anywhere. Their shirts had dried up because of the wind that is starting to turn cold.
Amy had only found three snacks that they can eat inside their backpacks that won’t make them sick even without water.
"Why did you buy too many sweets for the kids? This is bad for them you know," Henry can’t help but voice it out after seeing the amount of homemade sweetened cocoas, candies, and other sweet delicacies that Amy had bought from the resort and its nearby village.
Amy sighed, after regretting putting all of them in those bags instead of their suitcase. Now that she thinks about it, the healthy foods and drinks that she purchased were in their suitcase for she was trying to hide it from Henry.
She has no plan of sharing all those food with Henry and planned to keep everything in her office drawer and now everything is gone together with their plane that’s now underwater. She bet all the fishes and sea creatures will enjoy all her food.
"I know Henry. But I won’t give all of those to Jayson and Jena. I was planning to give some to my employees. I was just trying to help the vendors in the village. I experienced not having money and I thought buying their products will help them greatly," Amy pouted as she rest her chin on her knuckles.
"Come here, love," Henry kissed her forehead before giving her a quick hug. "I’m sorry, I think I am just getting cranky because of stress. Once we come home, let’s talk about your plan on making them one of your suppliers. What do you think?"
"Are we ever going to get home?" Amy’s eyes started to well up, it had been hours and there was no sign of rescue coming their way. Not even a sound of helicopters or boats can be heard from where they at.
The only thing that they can hear is the sound of the breaking waves in the sea. She was scared that the inflated float that they are sitting on will soon lose its air and they would need to swim or float in the water until they lose their energy and soon die.
There are hundreds of scenarios that Amy had imagined for the hours that they spent there.
"Don’t say such things, love. They know that we were in trouble and I am sure they will use all their manpower and equipment to find us. Relax for now, and we will take turns in sleeping so we can be both in good condition if the need arises that we need to swim," Henry assured her.
But Amy had watched too many movies and series that were similar to their situation, to know that it was not that easy.
Henry gave her their first snack when he heard her stomach grumble. It was banana chips, a small pack that is. Henry insisted that Amy eat it all since he is anxious which is making him feel full.
Amy was so hungry and did not turn down his offer. In less than five minutes, she was able to consume the whole pack of banana chips.
"Hungry that much?" Henry chuckled as he wipe the crumbs left on the side of her lips.
"Yes, I am. I am always hungry nowadays. It’s your fault for spoiling me with delicious foods so now my tummy craves for it. I need to resume my training with Ava or else I will get fat soon."
Henry roared in laughter even if what Amy said was not funny at all. He just wanted to distract her from their current predicament.
"I think it is better if you get fat. No man will look at you anymore," Henry joked, but instead of seeing a smile on Amy’s face like what she used to do whenever he will crack such jokes, he saw her frowning.
She then held her stomach and winced in pain. Her insides rumble and turn upside down. She can feel the bitter sour taste slowly overwhelming her mouth.
"I don’t feel good," was the only thing she was able to say before throwing everything she ate to the sea.
"Damnit, the chips could have been spoiled already after being under the sun for too long," Henry uttered as he rubs her back.
"I should have checked the expiry date before buying it. It has a bitter taste too when I eat it," Amy felt much better after throwing up everything and used the seawater to wash her face.
"What? It already tasted weird but you still eat it?" Henry creased his brows in disbelief at what she did.
"I was hungry, what do you want me to do? Plus I honestly thought that maybe it was just the effect of the sea or maybe it was just made like that," Amy felt her hunger coming back again and they only have two packs of chips left and with still no sign of rescue.
The Sun soon went down the horizon and their plan was to take turns in sleeping which did not happen. Henry could not sleep at all due to anxiety and stress, I mean who wouldn’t with their current situation, right?
On the other hand, Amy was tired, hungry, and cold, so she decided to just sleep it out. Hoping that once she wakes up, the rescue that they have been waiting for is already there.
When Henry saw the sky slowly becoming blue again. The sleep that his body badly needed finally arrived. He felt relaxed knowing that Amy was able to rest all night and will soon wake up and so he dozed off.
Amy was awakened by the sound of birds flying near them. She looked around and saw white birds flying in one direction. She observed them and when she saw where they are going, her face lit up.
"Henry wake up! We are near the land!"
