CEO loves me with all his soul.-Chapter 107. Sudden Attack
Chapter 107: 107. Sudden Attack
Cain stepped into the police station, his sharp eyes immediately finding Wuner Hudel standing beside his son, Wryn Hudel. Wuner had an air of arrogance about him, his arms crossed over his chest, his lips curled into a smirk as if he was above all of this. Wryn, on the other hand, looked nervous—his hands were clenched tightly, his posture stiff.
Chief Argo, seated at his desk, gave Cain a short nod before motioning for him to take a seat. Cain didn’t bother with pleasantries. His jaw was tight, his fingers twitching slightly against his coat as he took his place across from Wuner.
Argo exhaled and leaned forward. "Cain, after conducting an in-depth investigation, we have strong evidence to suggest that your youngest son, Adrian, was kidnapped by Wuner Hudel when he was only three months old."
Cain’s fingers curled into fists.
Wuner let out an exaggerated scoff, shaking his head. "Why would I need to kidnap a child who was of no use to me?" His voice was laced with mockery, his eyes gleaming with amusement as if the entire situation was nothing more than a joke to him.
Cain’s patience was razor-thin. He leaned forward, his voice dangerously low. "Show me the evidence."
Argo nodded, maintaining his calm demeanor as he pulled a file from his desk and placed it in front of Cain. "See for yourself."
Cain flipped open the file, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the documents and photographs inside.
1. Witness Testimony – Midwife Elisa GrewsonA written statement from a woman named Elisa Grewson was attached. She had been a midwife at the hospital where Jesper gave birth to Adrian. According to her testimony, on the night of Adrian’s birth, a man matching Wuner Hudel’s description had been spotted loitering around the hospital’s maternity ward. He had bribed a nurse for information about newborns in the ward.
"I saw him speaking to Nurse Karen about a child in the VIP ward. The child belonged to a wealthy family, and he seemed particularly interested. I thought nothing of it at the time, but later that night, the baby from that very ward went missing."
2. Security Footage – A Shadow in the NightA grainy black-and-white photograph was clipped to the file. It showed a tall man in a dark coat carrying a bundle wrapped in a hospital blanket. The footage was from a security camera placed near the hospital’s rear exit. While the man’s face wasn’t fully visible, the resemblance to Wuner Hudel was undeniable.
"We used enhanced image processing," Argo explained. "It matches Wuner’s facial structure, gait, and overall build."
3. Bribed Hospital Staff and Altered Birth RecordsFurther down the file, Cain saw the reports of two hospital employees who had been arrested years ago for involvement in illegal child trafficking. Their testimonies, recorded in earlier cases, revealed that high-profile individuals often paid to have infants removed from hospitals and placed elsewhere. One of the employees admitted to changing Adrian’s birth records, forging a false death certificate under someone’s instructions.
"I was just told to change a few details in the system. I didn’t ask questions," the testimony read. "But I remember that man—Wuner Hudel—he met with someone higher up. They handled the exchange."
4. DNA Evidence – The Blood Test That Revealed the TruthArgo pointed to another document. "This is the result of a recent analysis of an old blood sample taken from the hospital the day Adrian was born. We managed to retrieve it from their archives and compare it to Adrian’s current DNA sample."
Cain skimmed the report. The genetic markers were an exact match. The baby in that hospital had been Adrian.
He felt his breath hitch.
5. A Hidden Adoption AttemptThe final piece of evidence was the most damning—a document showing that just a few months after Adrian’s disappearance, an attempt had been made to register a baby under a false identity in a remote town. The application had been withdrawn abruptly.
"We traced the person who filed this," Argo said. "It was someone who worked closely with Wuner Hudel’s estate."
Cain’s hands trembled as he shut the file with a snap, his eyes dark with fury. He looked up at Wuner, his voice deadly calm.
"You stole my son."
Wuner smirked. "Stole? That’s such an ugly word. I merely took what was unwanted."
Cain surged forward, but Argo quickly placed a firm hand on his shoulder. "Cain."
Wuner’s smirk didn’t waver, but his eyes gleamed with something dangerous. "Jesper wasn’t even looking for the brat. If I hadn’t taken him, someone else would have."
Cain clenched his jaw so tightly it ached. His rage boiled beneath the surface, but he forced himself to breathe, to think.
Just then, the door burst open, and Isaac strode in with Lucas right behind him.
"What’s going on?" Isaac demanded.
Cain turned slightly, his expression unreadable. "...Something Wuner Hudel has done but is denying."
Isaac’s brows furrowed. Despite their blood relation, Isaac and Cain had never been close. Isaac had been raised as the Shaw family’s son due to being switched at birth, and even though the truth had long since been revealed, their relationship remained... complicated.
Before Isaac could ask further, Argo spoke up, his expression grave. "There’s more."
Cain turned back to him sharply. "What do you mean?"
Argo sighed, running a hand through his hair. "We have another matter. We recently captured Lady Sachel—Ethan and Leclair Levistis’s mother. And she’s involved in something big."
Cain exchanged a glance with Isaac, whose expression darkened.
Wuner chuckled. "Ah, Sachel. I did wonder how long she’d last."
Cain ignored him and focused on Argo. "What exactly is she involved in?"
Argo’s face was grim. "We’re still trying to piece it together, but from what we’ve uncovered so far... she might be connected to the same people who orchestrated Adrian’s kidnapping."
Silence fell over the room.
Cain’s fingers twitched against his coat.
Isaac narrowed his eyes. "Are you saying there’s a larger network behind this?"
Argo nodded. "And we suspect Lady Sachel knows more than she’s willing to admit."
Cain exhaled slowly, his rage simmering beneath the surface.
Wuner, however, looked utterly unconcerned. He leaned back, tilting his head at Cain mockingly. "Looks like you have a lot to handle, Sebanil. Maybe you should thank me instead—if I hadn’t taken your son, he might’ve ended up somewhere much worse."
Cain’s hands curled into fists.
Isaac, for once, didn’t stop himself. He lunged at Wuner, grabbing him by the collar. "Shut your damn mouth."
Argo’s officers quickly moved in to separate them, but the damage was done.
Wuner simply laughed. "Touchy, aren’t we?"
Cain didn’t say a word. He simply turned to Argo.
"Make sure he doesn’t walk free." His voice was quiet, but the threat was clear.
Argo gave him a small nod. "We intend to."
Cain and Argo sat across from each other in the dimly lit office, their expressions tense. The weight of the revelations surrounding Adrian’s kidnapping was already suffocating, but the layers of deception continued to unfold. Cain’s fingers drummed against the desk as he spoke, his voice low and measured.
"What else have you found?"
Argo exhaled, rubbing his temple. "There’s more to this than just Wuner Hudel. The evidence suggests a larger network—one that’s been operating for decades, involved in illegal genetic experiments, child trafficking, and black-market adoptions."
Cain’s eyes darkened. "And Lady Sachel?"
Argo’s jaw tightened. "She’s part of it, whether willingly or not. We’ve uncovered documents linking her to research facilities that were supposedly shut down years ago. It’s possible she was involved in whatever was done to Adrian as a child."
Cain’s grip on his coat stiffened.
Meanwhile, Isaac was leaning over Lucas, who was scrolling through his phone while glancing at the files on Argo’s desk. His brows furrowed as he made silent comparisons.
"Lucas?" Isaac asked, his voice edged with concern.
Lucas didn’t look up immediately. He was fixated on something—matching details between the files and whatever was on his phone screen. "Isaac... I think I recognize some of these names."
Before he could elaborate, the air shattered with the sound of gunfire.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The gunshots rang from inside the jail. The officers jolted into action, drawing their weapons as chaos erupted. Cain and Argo immediately ran toward the holding cells, Isaac and Lucas right behind them.
When they arrived, the sight before them was chaotic—officers scrambling, injured personnel on the floor, and in the middle of it all, Visha, blood dripping from a wound on her arm, holding Lady Sachel in a chokehold.
"She was trying to escape," Visha growled, pinning Sachel down. "She had someone on the inside."
Cain narrowed his eyes. "Where are the attackers?"
A loud crash echoed from the hallway. Isaac didn’t wait for orders. He bolted toward the commotion, his adrenaline spiking.
Lucas was right beside him. "Isaac, wait—"
Another gunshot—too close.
Isaac felt the air shift, the sharp crack of the bullet tearing through the space near him. Before he could react, a strong force pushed him aside.
Lucas.
Isaac tumbled to the ground, hearing the sickening sound of a body hitting the floor right next to him.
"Lucas!"
His voice cracked as he turned, eyes widening in horror. Lucas lay there, blood spreading across his side, his body still shielding Isaac. The bullet had found him instead.
Isaac’s breath caught. His heart hammered in his chest. He grabbed Lucas, pulling him into his arms, his hands shaking. "No—no, no, no—Lucas, stay with me."
Lucas’s eyelids fluttered. He smiled—weak, soft, as though none of this was happening.
"I’m fine," Lucas murmured, lifting a trembling hand to brush against Isaac’s face. His fingers were warm, but Isaac could feel the life slipping away.
"No! Don’t close your eyes—stay awake. The ambulance is coming," Isaac’s voice broke as he pressed his hands against the wound, desperate to stop the bleeding.
Lucas let out a quiet chuckle. "Isaac... I love you."
Isaac choked on a sob. "Then stay with me—don’t go, please. I can’t—"
Lucas’s hand cupped Isaac’s cheek, his touch light. His beautiful golden eyes held something deep, something unspoken.
"I wish for your happiness... always."
And then—his hand fell limp.
His eyes fluttered shut.
The warmth in his body faded.
For a moment, Isaac couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. The world around him felt muted, distant. He pressed his forehead against Lucas’s, waiting for a breath, a heartbeat—anything.
But Lucas was gone.
Isaac let out a strangled sound, grief tearing through him like a storm. "No—Lucas! Please, wake up. Open your eyes!"
He shook him, cradling his body, his tears mixing with the blood staining Lucas’s clothes.
Cain arrived seconds later, taking in the scene. His sharp breath hitched. The realization was instant, heavy. His son—his strong, resilient son—was breaking in front of him.
Cain stepped forward and placed a hand on Isaac’s trembling shoulder.
Isaac didn’t react. He only clutched Lucas tighter, his sobs wrecking through his body.
The police sirens wailed outside, the flashing lights painting the walls in red and blue.
But nothing mattered.
That night, Isaac Sebanil lost his beloved.
