Chapter 138: Chapter 128: Love and Hate in an Instant

"What will it take for you to believe me? What if I give up on acquiring the Donovan Group? If I were really out for revenge, the Donovan Group would be the first thing I’d destroy. If you trust me, I’ll announce the cancellation of the acquisition right now!"

It was only as Julian Donovan said this that he truly realized one thing: he had underestimated his enemy!

Sean Donovan’s move was truly vicious. Julian could either abandon the Donovan Group to win her trust, or continue the acquisition and make her hate him. He’d never imagined Sean Donovan could be so calculating. Perhaps it was because the Donovan Group had always been on the losing end in its competition with Mercy over the years that he had never taken Sean Donovan seriously.

The one he was most wary of was Charles Donovan, whose methods were notoriously ruthless. But now, it seemed Sean Donovan was the most terrifying of all.

"Who knows what you’ll do later, even if you say you’re giving up now?"

Naomi Shaw didn’t believe a word he said. She took the ring he had given her out of her bag and shoved it into his uninjured hand. "Here, take this back. This is my decision!"

"Naomi Shaw, don’t you hate me? Then hate me. I’ll make you hate me to your very core! I won’t give up on acquiring the Donovan Group, and I will have you, too!"

"Julian Donovan, what are you trying to do?"

"A man, a woman, clothes... what do you think he wants to do?"

Naomi Shaw watched him in horror as he became reckless, and she struggled with all her might. Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face. "Julian Donovan, I hate you! I hate you! I hate you so much!"

The line between love and hate is razor-thin.

The depth of her hate was matched only by the depth of her love.

Love and hate, decided in a single moment. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

He whispered in her ear, "Whether you believe me or not, I’m never letting you go. We can just torment each other like this for the rest of our lives!"

Her phone started ringing. Julian reached over and grabbed it. It was a call from Willow Summers. He answered it and barked, "What is it!"

Willow Summers replied indignantly, "Are you two not done with your private time yet? Joy wants her mom, and Dylan wants his dad!"

"I’ll go get them in a bit!"

His eyes fell on the phone screen again, his face instantly turning cold. He violently smashed the phone against the wall, where it shattered into pieces. The call had been from Sean Donovan.

The loud crash startled Naomi Shaw. When she saw he had smashed her phone, she cried out, "Julian Donovan, you..."

"Has Sean Donovan ever given you this kind of pleasure? Can he make you come? If he can’t even give you the greatest pleasure a woman can feel, you might as well stay by my side. Look, you’re about to get there again..."

"Julian Donovan, you bastard!"

"Give me a daughter. A cute and beautiful daughter, just like Joy!"

She retorted, "I’m about to get my period, so stop dreaming! Even if I were ovulating, I’d take the pill right away!"

"Put me down! I don’t want your phony concern!"

Julian Donovan raised an eyebrow and scoffed, "Oh? You’d rather stay here half-dressed?"

"What about my clothes?"

He turned and walked to a door connected to the bedroom. Pushing it open, he looked back at her and said, "This is the walk-in closet. There are clothes for you inside."

"I’m going to pick up the two kids now. You’d better stay here and behave. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee what I might do next!"

Furious, she grabbed a nearby pillow and threw it at him. "Get out!"

He didn’t dodge. The pillow hit him and fell to the floor. With her weak throw and the soft pillow, it had no weight and couldn’t have hurt him at all. Yet, Naomi Shaw saw a flash of pain cross his face, and for some reason, her own heart ached in response. Flustered, she pulled the blanket over herself.

Then she heard him walk into the bathroom, followed by the sound of rushing water. A short while later, he came out, apparently having put on some clothes. Then came the sound of the door closing. Only after she heard an engine start outside did she finally get up, her whole body aching as she walked into the bathroom to wash up.

’Julian Donovan, Julian Donovan, Julian Donovan. I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.’

She cursed him furiously in her mind as she washed herself clean. Wrapping a bath towel around her, she went into the walk-in closet he’d mentioned. Inside, she found a dazzling array of clothes and accessories, for both men and women. The women’s clothes all had their tags on; they were clearly brand new. The exorbitant prices made her gasp. Although Ian Shaw had provided her with a wealthy upbringing, she rarely wore such extravagant luxury brands.
