Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 67: Oxford
Henry lay in his bed, several bottles of chocolate lying on the floor and beside him, and he was currently holding onto one. He drank a large gulp from the bottle and sighed, after a few seconds, took another gulp and sighed once again, continuing the process over and over and over.
"Emotions sucks, it fucking sucks," he muttered softly and drank for the bottle again. He was about to take another gulp when a knock was heard on the door
"Wallace, go away!" he voiced out, like a girl going through a breakup
"Darling it’s me, mum," Felicity replied from the other side 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Well, go away," Henry said and drank from the bottle of chocolate
"Honey, laying on the bed and drinking chocolate won’t help. Let me cheer you up," Felicity insisted
"Do not come in mother, just let me be," he muttered, but as he soon as he said it, Felicity walked in through the door, passing through it like she was a ghost or rather like the door wasn’t there.
"I said don’t come in," Henry said before using the blanket to cover his face
"And that’s why i did," Felicity said before walking up to Henry. She removed the blanket and stared at his displeased face
"You can talk to me," she said and sat down beside him
"No thanks, I’m good," Henry muttered and drank a mouthful of chocolate
Felicity sighed. "You’re not getting anywhere with an endless bottle of chocolate Henry, you need to talk," she said and snapped her fingers. Immediately all the chocolate bottles, both empty and full, disappeared, including the one in Henry’s mouth.
"Why!" Henry exclaimed in horror, about to throw a tantrum, like a baby whose candy was taken away
Felicity giggled. "You’re acting like a child, i like it, reminds me of Emily as a toddler. But sweets won’t solve your problems," she stated and rubbed his hair tenderly
Henry sighed. "Fine,"
"Good, so what bothers this child of mine so? Is it... Your feelings?" Felicity asked
"It hurts," Henry began. "I didn’t mean to,"
"Hurt her?" Felicity said, raising a brow
"No... Having this emotions i don’t understand, i said those things to her but... I’m the one who feels bad. Why do i feel bad for someone other than myself?" Henry asked, looking into Felicity’s eyes, awaiting answers
Felicity smiled. "That’s because you care Henry, you’ve never cared about anyone other than yourself before, but now... It appears you do," she explained
Henry chuckled. "But i don’t want to, i can’t, i just can’t. I didn’t even feel guilty when i said those things to her, but when she looked at me, i could see the pain and sadness in her eyes and that hurt me more than anything," he muttered in a low voice
Felicity caressed his face. "Darling, that’s called caring, caring for someone that you can’t bear to see them in pain," she said
"But why do i have it? I’m supposed to only be filled with anger and sorrow, having someone... People i love would be a distraction and not to mention burden. If I could feel this way for one person, then imagine a lot more, i can’t mum, i just can’t," Henry whispered
Felicity smiled bitterly. "You know i used to feel the same way too, and that cost me the one person that I loved most in the world," she said
"But I see now that having people who love you and loving them back is the greatest gift in the world. Even if you have nothing, having those people will keep you going, caring doesn’t make you weak, it’s your greatest strength. Cause you know you have something, someone you’re fighting for, other than yourself," she continued, her eyes tearing up, but she quickly withdraw the tears and forged a smile
Henry stared at the woman who was now his mother, and she was really good at it too, he felt grateful to have met someone like her. Most adoptive parents aren’t so nice or welcoming, but Felicity treated Henry as though she actually carried him for nine months.
Henry nodded and took Felicity’s hands, squeezing them gently, as a comforting gesture. "I understand, but... Why now? All those years in my past life and i never felt anything other than anger and bloodlust, why do i suddenly care about her?" he asked
Felicity looked into his eyes and smiled. "I’m the one who is here to comfort him but he’s trying to make me feel better as well, even if he didn’t say any words, it’s a start," she thought
"Well, that is because you never truly had good times with anyone in your past life, but Alicia was kind to you, even if it started off as a blackmail type," she chuckled
"But she was nice to you, something you weren’t used to in your past life, and that is why you feel like that. The truth Henry is, everyone just wants to be loved, to know that there’s someone out there who cares about them," she continued
"But I’ll tell you that the past is the past, forget about your past suffering and emotions and create new ones, new memories with new found loved ones," Felicity said, her voice gently and soothing
Henry felt like he was in a trance, her words were like mirrors that truly depicted him, she really understood him and what he was going through, and also how to help.
"How are you so good at this?" he chuckled
Felicity smiled. "That’s is because my child, i know everything... And I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology," she said
Henry was stunned, he already knew that she had been in his head and lately he didn’t mind, he even enjoyed it. Afterall having knowledge of someone’s pain and actually feeling it can be very useful when trying to help them but what concerned Henry was,
"Did you just say bachelor’s degree? Is that a thing here or did you see it in my head?" he asked with a surprised expression. He hadn’t researched on how education worked in the world but he was sure that the 21st century’s diplomas can’t still be the same as now
Felicity chuckled. "You must be surprised, but don’t be. I indeed had a degree in psychology, at Oxford."
