Celestial Human Diagram-Chapter 76 - 66: Invitation Class
After coaching Chen Chuan for a while, Cheng Zitong said, "You’re practicing the Circulation Technique. Compared to other Force Techniques, it doesn’t have a specialized direction or a clear expression. So, from my humble perspective, you need to strengthen your foundation.
"Besides training, that means using medicine. In the past, any medicinal ingredients that could produce these effects were extremely rare and hard to find. Fortunately, that’s not a problem these days. The only difference is the price. I’ll prepare some for you later."
He took a card from his briefcase and pushed it in front of him.
"The payment for your two dispatched missions has come in. I opened an account for you and deposited all the money. You can withdraw it anytime you need. If the medicine costs more, I’ll deduct it from there. If it’s still not enough, I’ll let you know."
Chen Chuan took it and said, "Thank you, Teacher."
Cheng Zitong reminded him, "Even though you’ve mastered the Force Technique, remember to use it sparingly. Every use puts a certain strain on your body. Although medicine can repair the damage, there’s no need to use it unless you’re in danger."
With his Second Self, Chen Chuan wasn’t too worried about the strain from the Force Technique. Still, he assured Cheng Zitong he had taken the warning to heart.
Cheng Zitong’s expression then grew a little more serious. "Aside from that, although your Mutated Organization has been restrained, we still need to observe it for a few more days to see if its growth rate has slowed. This is very important. We should know in a few days."
Chen Chuan said, "I’ll keep an eye on it and inform you immediately if there are any changes, Teacher."
Cheng Zitong said, "Don’t be so tense. Even if it does grow, it will definitely go through a slow period first. For now, you don’t have to be as wound up as before."
After saying all this, his expression relaxed a bit. "Now that you’ve succeeded with your Force Technique, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief..." He chuckled. "It’s been over two months since you enrolled, and you still haven’t attended any open or invitation classes, have you?
"You should probably attend one or two before midterms, even if it’s just to show your face. Otherwise, your name won’t be on any of the class rosters. It’s not a huge deal, but I’m afraid someone might use it against you."
Chen Chuan said, "I’ll go to one in the next few days, then."
Having said all he needed to, Cheng Zitong left, satisfied.
After he left, Chen Chuan took out the alarm clock and carefully sensed the temporal progress. The success with the Circulation Technique had indeed spurred the growth of his Second Self.
It had increased by a full seven-plus minutes! Counting the small increases from before, the total was now over a quarter of an hour.
Now that he had succeeded with the Force Technique, he could continue to strengthen himself while also participating in more practical combat, thereby acquiring more overlapping time.
He thought for a moment, then walked out of his dorm. When he returned, he was holding two invitations for invitation classes.
Time had been tight before. Aside from necessary dispatched missions and rest, he had no time to waste. Now that he had mastered the Circulation Technique and Cheng Zitong had reminded him, it was a good time to attend a class.
Invitation classes weren’t limited to A-class or Class B students; it all depended on the teacher’s preference. However, most A-class students received one, which was usually sent out a day in advance.
Of the two invitations in his hand, one was for a class tomorrow, and the other was for this afternoon. He saw that the afternoon one was from a teacher named Xu Wei from the Capture Department. ’In that case, I might as well go listen to his lecture.’
However, as he was looking it over, he noticed a line of small print inside the invitation. After reading it, he raised an eyebrow.
He had planned to have lunch with Luo Kaiyuan and Feng Xiaochi, but neither of them was around. Weidong from across the hall was also gone. They were probably all training with their respective supervising teachers. So, after eating lunch alone, he returned to his dorm to freshen up, then headed to the venue specified for the invitation class.
This was the first time since entering Wuyi Academy that he had walked so leisurely through the campus and taken in the scenery.
It was now November, and most of the maple trees lining the path had turned red. Hues of gold and crimson intertwined, and leaves drifted down from time to time, creating a rich autumn atmosphere.
After walking for about a quarter of an hour, he reached the designated venue. It was a semi-circular arena with a raised lecture platform at the front.
He was rather early; there were still about twenty minutes before the class started. He casually found a seat in the middle, by the aisle.
Before long, students began to file in. Most of them were girls, which wasn’t surprising. The Weaponry and Capture Departments had the highest number of female students.
Just then, a girl with Boxing Gloves wrapped around her hands walked in. She had ear-length short hair and wore a white training uniform. Her figure was athletic and her steps were light. Her appearance caused a stir of whispers.
"Look, isn’t that Guan Xinyin?"
"Yeah, Teacher Guan’s daughter. She’s an A-class student. I heard she’s ranked very high among the girls, her skills are incredible, and she’s beautiful. It’s only because it’s Teacher Xu’s class today. Otherwise, an A-class student like her with a dedicated supervising teacher would never come."
"What’s so special about being an A-class student? See that tall male student over there? Isn’t he an A-class student too?"
"Oh, right. He’s also an A-class student." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Chen Chuan’s five senses had become very keen after he started training, and now that he had a Force Technique, they were even sharper. He knew they were talking about him, but he didn’t pay it much mind.
But soon, he felt a gaze fall upon him. He immediately looked over and met a pair of clear, distinct eyes. It was Guan Xinyin looking his way. He gave her a polite nod.
Guan Xinyin nodded back with equal politeness, an exchange of greetings between two A-class students.
The students continued to arrive, and soon it was almost time. A young teacher, who looked to be in his early thirties, walked onto the platform. This must be Teacher Xu Wei. His finger joints were thick, giving an impression of great strength, and his gaze was sharp, like needles pricking you when he looked your way.
Xu Wei first swept his gaze around the room. It paused briefly on Chen Chuan before quickly moving on. He introduced himself, then began the lecture.
The main topic of the class was how to coordinate capture techniques with other boxing styles. Xu Wei’s choice of words was concise and powerful, his explanations precise, making it easy for everyone to understand.
However, theoretical matters are always dry, and it’s hard to gain a deep understanding and remember everything after just one listen. So, he called a few students up to the platform to assist with demonstrations. The process went smoothly, and the class was soon more than halfway over.
Xu Wei then said, "Hard capture techniques are most often paired with the Scattering Hand, usually striking first and then grappling. However, when it comes to Twisting Skills, pairing them with Wrestling Takedowns is more effective in a ring match. Therefore, today we’ve invited student Qiu Xin from the Wrestling Takedown Department. He is also a Wuyi graduate and will be my special assistant for today."
As he spoke, he began to applaud, and the students below also started clapping lightly. A moment later, a tall and sturdy man walked up from the side. He looked to be in his twenties. His body was broad and strong, his feet like awls, stepping on the ground without a sound. He gave the impression of a very resilient, large leather ball floating on water.
Qiu Xin first bowed to everyone, then said, "I’m honored to assist with Teacher Xu’s class today. I’m not a teacher and I’m not good at public speaking, so to give a more intuitive demonstration, I’ll need a student to come up and assist me."
"I’ll do it." A crisp voice rang out. It was Guan Xinyin who had stood up. "I’ll assist Assistant Qiu."
Qiu Xin glanced at her a few times, then shook his head. His gaze seemed to land nonchalantly on Chen Chuan. "This student here, would you mind coming up to the stage to assist?"
Chen Chuan glanced at him and said, "I can." He rose from his seat and, under the gazes of all the students, walked up the aisle to the platform.
Guan Xinyin looked at him, then sat back down.
Chen Chuan walked up to Qiu Xin and asked, "Assistant Qiu, how would you like me to assist?"
"It’s just a simple demonstration. An average student might not be able to protect themselves properly, but I believe this student will have no problem."
"In that case," Chen Chuan thought for a moment, then said, "I have some questions about my own Wrestling Takedown practice. Later, I’d also like to ask for your guidance on a few techniques, Assistant Qiu. Would that be alright?"
Qiu Xin readily agreed, "Of course, that’s fine."
After their exchange, Xu Wei stepped back, leaving the stage to the two of them. The students below watched with interest. Many of them were new students who had never seen the true strength of an A-class student. Now, they would get a chance.
Qiu Xin then stepped forward, gripping Chen Chuan’s shoulder and waist. "Don’t move, just like this. I’m going to demonstrate a ’spinning body slam’. Chen, be sure to protect yourself."
Chen Chuan just watched him calmly.
After he finished speaking, Qiu Xin’s eyes suddenly turned cold. His fingers and palm tightened, and a surge of Power instantly seeped into Chen Chuan’s body. Then, keeping the hand on Chen Chuan’s shoulder still, he spun violently, moving behind Chen Chuan. With his other hand, he lifted Chen Chuan’s entire body into the air and slammed him down!
The platform instantly shook. The students below were all startled, and many cried out in alarm. Guan Xinyin’s brow furrowed as well.
Qiu Xin seemed to freeze, looking very anxious. He ran a few steps forward to Xu Wei and said, "Teacher Xu, I think I used too much force. We should call for medics, quickly."
But Xu Wei’s expression was strange. He stood there silently. At the same time, the students below had become unusually quiet.
Qiu Xin looked around, seemed to realize something, and took a step back.
And right behind him, Chen Chuan’s figure slowly rose to its feet. He raised a hand to adjust his cuff and said slowly, "Assistant Qiu, it seems you didn’t use enough strength."
