Caught in Affairs with Superstar-Chapter 82: The Beginning of the Scandal
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: The Beginning of the Scandal
Wei Ru Xue was very angry.
If VX was Dior or Coach, that would have been one thing, but to have a small brand that was just expanding into the mainland market disrespect her like this!
"I’m not going!" she said angrily.
"Don’t throw a tantrum, try to look at the bigger picture." Wei Ru Xue’s agent was a veteran at Chengqian Entertainment, even one of the founding members, named Sui Yu. She was a steady presence, who spoke calmly without the shrewdness typical of most in the entertainment industry, more like a schoolteacher. When she spoke, it wasn’t easy for Wei Ru Xue to rebut directly.
"Ah, Sister Yu, though I’m being petulant, VX really doesn’t regard me at all, how can they handle things this way?" Wei Ru Xue complained. "Isn’t this clearly showing that they think Zhou Yun is more important than me?"
Sui Yu advised, "If we’re talking about fairness, Zhou Yun chose first, and you insisted on picking what someone else had already chosen, who would be in the right then?"
"VX should have sent the clothes to me first to choose, how could I pick from the leftovers that little girl Zhou Yun chose?" This was what truly bothered Wei Ru Xue.
"Don’t forget, although Zhou Yun is a newcomer, she recently walked a major show as a guest for VX, and the collaboration went well, a rapport you don’t have," Sui Yu reminded her.
"Sister Yu, are you telling me that after so many years in the industry, I lose out to mere rapport?" Wei Ru Xue questioned.
Sui Yu knew Wei Ru Xue’s personality very well. Wei Ru Xue was her own discovery and had been brought up by her hands. She was haughty, had a smooth career journey with the company’s backing, development went smoothly, and she only occasionally clashed with a few other major competitors, never suffering any serious setbacks. In terms of personal connections, she was even less adept than the newly debuted Zhou Yun. But Sui Yu didn’t think this was a bad thing. For an actor, it was better to be a bit naïve, keeping a pure heart helped in diving into roles wholeheartedly.
With a consoling smile, Sui Yu said, "This minor rapport isn’t key to how VX handled this; you shouldn’t stoop to grab something from a lesser star. Ruxue, remember what I’ve told you? If someone inferior to you shouts and provokes you, you should ignore it because others won’t think you’ve been bested, they will think you encountered a mad dog. You should not lower your standards to fight over this. No matter how good her rapport with VX, she won’t take the spokesperson role, but you are a perfect candidate. Look at the bigger picture; grabbing the VX spokesperson role will lead to many opportunities to interact with VX. Then, it won’t be just about rapport, but actual gains, where you and VX become real business partners. Don’t lose a lot over a little."
Sui Yu’s words struck a chord in Wei Ru Xue’s heart.
Wei Ru Xue’s anger was extinguished.
"Sister Yu, am I being very immature?" Wei Ru Xue, who appeared very mature in front of others, opened her arms and hugged Sui Yu, showing a girlish side. "Ah, when can I ever curb this impulsive temper of mine?"
Sui Yu laughed.
She patted Wei Ru Xue’s shoulder and said, "What’s there to curb? I like you just the way you are. I wouldn’t like it if you were meek. As long as you adhere to your principles, everything is under control with me here."
"Sister Yu, you’re the best."
...
On the first of May, when Wei Ru Xue met Zhou Yun in the dressing room, Wei Ru Xue was dressed in a flowing gold gown, her hair styled up, adorned with a golden leaf, looking like a goddess stepped out from a Western Europe myth, stunning everyone.
Zhou Yun wore the sea-blue gown she had picked earlier, her black hair casually draped over one shoulder, presenting a different style.
"Sister Xue, you look too beautiful today! How could I possibly stand alongside you on stage?" another invited guest, Cheng Jialin, squealed in admiration.
Wei Ru Xue modestly smiled, saying, "Stop it, you look fabulous today too!" freewebnøvel.coɱ
Cheng Jialin glanced at Zhou Yun, sighed softly, and said, "The sisters from your company are so stunning, it makes me jealous."
Zhou Yun smiled sweetly and gently, showing a hint of innocence.
"Sister Jialin, you’re making me blush."
Wei Ru Xue, with a smiling face, waved and said, "Xiao Yun, come over here, let’s take a photo together."
Zhou Yun was surprised, thinking maybe Wei Ru Xue wanted to show a sisterly bond in front of others.
Regardless of her thoughts, Zhou Yun stepped forward to stand next to Wei Ru Xue.
They hugged each other and struck several poses.
Holding hands, hugging, cheek to cheek.
Flashes of cameras flickered all around.
At the VX store opening ceremony, there were seven invited celebrity guests, and even more were distinguished socialites.
They were the main purchasing force for VX in the future.
Zhou Yun was not familiar with them, but Wei Ruxue and Cheng Jialin seemed to know several of these people well, chatting and laughing joyously.
"Xiao Yun." A familiar male voice rang beside Zhou Yun’s ear.
Turning her head, Zhou Yun saw Chen Fusi, whom she had not seen for a long time.
"Mr. Chen," Zhou Yun responded with some surprise, "long time no see."
"I was in Hong Kong dealing with some matters recently and just got back," Chen Fusi said with a slight smile. "I saw the video of the fashion show you did the other day; you are indeed very suitable for VX."
Zhou Yun bowed her head and smiled lightly, saying, "I think so too."
Chen Fusi asked, "I heard you’re joining a film production in June?"
"Yes," nodded Zhou Yun.
Chen Fusi said, "If I have time, I’ll come visit the set."
Zhou Yun knew Chen Fusi was interested in her, but she was not in that frame of mind.
"Mr. Chen, right now, I’m really afraid of getting involved in any scandals."
"Don’t worry, no one will spread any," Chen Fusi said with an easygoing tone, yet full of sure confidence.
As they were talking, suddenly, Wei Ruxue walked over.
"President Chen! You finally decided to come back from Hong Kong!" Wei Ruxue’s demeanor was entirely like an old acquaintance of Chen Fusi, her smile even more eager than usual—a rarity for the typically proud Wei Ruxue, "You know Xiao Yun too?"
Chen Fusi’s eyes crinkled with a smile, "Yes, isn’t she with your company? If I remember correctly."
"Yes."
Wei Ruxue took two steps back, struck a pose, and asked, "President Chen, how do you like my outfit today?"
Chen Fusi said, "Absolutely goddess-like."
Wei Ruxue laughed confidently, her bright white teeth seemingly fit for a toothpaste commercial.
Chen Fusi took a step forward, asking, "Didn’t your agent come today?"
"You mean Sister Yu? She had some things to deal with today, she’ll be here later. Why, do you need to talk business with her?"
"We’ll talk later."
Zhou Yun smiled subtly, preparing to turn away.
Suddenly, Cheng Jialin appeared, whispering in her ear, "It must be frustrating having Wei Ruxue as your senior, isn’t it?"
Surprised, Zhou Yun looked at Cheng Jialin.
Cheng Jialin’s demeanor was no longer that of the fawning fan praising Wei Ruxue just moments before, her eyes held a blend of jealousy and disdain.
"She’s like that, can’t stand anyone being even slightly better than her. You must be suffering," Cheng Jialin patted Zhou Yun’s shoulder, displaying utmost understanding.
Zhou Yun: "..."
