Dr. Avaline nodded, "The V.I.S.O.R. is a piece of internal Psychowares. It is biotechnology so it will fuse with your eyes. No amount of mechanical parts will be inside."

"What does the VISOR even do exactly?" Becky said.

"It can grant you many special abilities. The most crucial one is the ability to see invisible NES and spectral NCEs, those that you can’t see with ordinary vision."

"I don’t need it." Selina said.

"I’m afraid it is necessary. Without it you couldn’t participate in many courses inside the Institute." Dr. Avaline said.

"No, I mean I already have that power."

Selina closed her eyes. The diamond shape in the middle of her forehead lit up slightly red. When she opened her eyes again, they were blood red. The color of Chaos.

There were very few things that could surprise Dr. Avaline. But this was one of them. He held his breath and approached Selina.

The Doctor took out a fancy monocle and put it on his eyes. He examined Selina’s red eyes closely.

"Dear God... A natural Receptor." Dr. Avaline mumbled.

Hank nodded his head, "I can tell they were real from here."

"What’s a natural Receptor?" Becky said.

"Visor is a piece of Psychoware that was made in the image of an actual Psionic Ability with the same name. The streets call it Blood Vision. I have only seen a few people in my lifetime who awakened this ability.

Even your mother wasn’t able to." Dr. Avaline said.

He tucked his monocle away. "Very well, Miss Isles. You don’t need to install the VISOR. I will notify the university about your situation."

"That’s great. So is my part done?" Selina said.

"You are." Dr. Avaline nodded.

"Ugh! I want that ability. I don’t want to dissect my eyes!" Loretta said.

Dr. Avaline chuckled, "Don’t worry, Miss Engleman. The process is very quick and painless. Hank is here to replace his VISOR as well. Let’s watch him do it first for you to see."

"I have no objection." Hank shrugged.

"This might be interesting." Mater licked his mouth.

"We’ll be staying and watching the process then." Selina said.

Hank got onto a chair and lay on his back. The operator used a huge machine with blinding light to shine upon him. It was similar to a dentist’s light.

"I’m going to put anesthesia on your eyes." The operator said and put two droplets of anesthesia on Hank’s eyes. "Tell me when you’re ready."

"I’m ready."

The light turned from white to red. A laser shot down into his eyes and opened up an invisible hole on his cornea. Then the light turned to blue.

A certain liquid was pulled out from his eyes.

The operator put the liquid inside a plastic cup.

"Replacing VISOR."

The operator put a red liquid into the machine. The light turned red again as it shot the liquid into the cornea via the laser. Hank’s eyes turned from its usual blue to red and stayed in that state.

The operator passed an eyedrop to Hank, "Twice a week as usual. Check-up every two months."

Hank nodded and sat up, "See, girls. It is painless."

The black cat watched everything closely. It stroked its whiskers with squinted eyes.

"They are replicating Chaos Eyes by using some type of substance. This forced their eyes into this state at all times. It must be exhausting for Rank-1 like them. That must be why they need the eyedrops." The black cat meowed.

Selina stayed back to see Loretta and Becky took their VISORs. Mater was very suspicious with that piece of tech. Any tech that was put into your body could be manipulated. It was a weakness and would soon be exploited sooner or later.

There was a similar Chaos User archetype in Mater’s old world. They were called the Eldritch Knights. Essentially, they were warlocks. But these Eldritch Knights fused Warlock Artifacts into them, making them living weapons.

Selina and Mater left the Institute after the fact.

The goth girl stretched her body, "It finally ends. It was much more exhausting than I thought."

"Huh. You’re the only woman I saw that hated shopping." The black cat meowed.

"I’d rather train my power." Selina shrugged.

"That’s my girl. We can begin training you in melee combat tomorrow. Crow will be your instructor." The black cat meowed.

"Where should we train?"

"The Underpark, of course! It’s the perfect place without any surveillance and it has lots of space. But let’s drop by Leslie’s laboratory first. The Underpark is a better place so I was thinking of moving him there." The black cat meowed.

"That’s a great idea! We should check the status of his research as well."

Hemoglobin Adrenal Synthesizer and Genetic Optimization Drive were given to Leslie for him to research. Leslie made the HAS pill so he only further developed the drug. As for GOD, it was a new type of drug entirely. There was also the blue healing liquid that Mater stole from the private hospital. These things could be a great help for the cat and his goth girl.

Mater didn’t really care about HAS or GOD as they were a separate path from his warlock magic. But they would be great to use on his underlings and maybe Selina and the girls could use it too.

Mater only cared about the green liquid. Warlock had no healing spell. That was a sad fact. The green solution could help with that.

They arrived at Leslie’s laboratory. It was a small condo in a very deserted part of town.

Leslie had a cover for his condo. At first sight, it looked nothing out of the ordinary. Secretly, he had another room inside the wall that could only be opened with a remote control or from the inside.

Leslie was working in his lab when he noticed Selina and Mater on the camera. The chemist opened up the wall to let them in.

"Master! Miss Isles!" Leslie bowed to the two of them.

"How is your research going?" The black cat meowed. As Leslie was a servant, he could understand Mater completely.

"I have been working hard, Master. The HAS pill has been significantly upgraded thanks to your fund. I couldn’t replicate the green solution yet... But I found something very interesting about the GOD compound."

"Oh? Show me."
