CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 151: The Mansion
"Definitely not the highway first. We don’t even know where they are. It could take days for us to locate the wraiths." Selina said.
"That’s true. It’s either the Factory or the Mansion. The Mansion has much less wraiths. Let’s do that first."
The group left the AE Forges and climbed back on the motorcycle. They drove to Barrera Street, where the mansion of the Lambskins is located.
When they arrived on the site, the place was isolated by the government. A high synthetic wall wrapped around the premise of the mansion and prevented anyone from going in. There were DSI agents patrolling back and forth at every premises of the place.
To cover the truth from the public, the place was informed to have radioactive compounds within the premises and therefore was prohibited by the government for the ’public’ safety.
The mansion was much different than the previous bounties that Selina and Mater had done. The reason was because there were a lot of Bounty Hunters around.
For their previous bounties, they rarely encountered any other Psychics. The only notable Hunter that Selina met on the job was Rebecca ’Becky’ Martinez. And that was long ago, when she first started doing bounties.
Aurora wasn’t registered in the government system so she had to jump into the Dark Grimoire before the group approached the place.
Selina drove the motorcycle toward the mansion.
A DSI agent stepped forward and raised his hand. He had a long black rifle on him.
"Stop. Radioactive field. Civilians are prohibited."
Selina took the Ankh Badge out and showed.
The DSI agent took out a scanner and hovered it over the Badge. Selina’s face showed up on the screen.
"Proceed."
The agent stepped back, allowing Selina to ride into the premise of the mansion.
The government had expanded the entire premise to also include temporal shelters for the Hunters around the mansion.
These shelters were movable living quarters that looked like a container from the outside.
Selina parked the motorcycle at the parking area. Eyes immediately glanced at her. Whisperings started.
"Who’s that?"
"That’s a pretty chick."
"Is that a cat in her shirt?"
Mater jumped out of Selina’s shirt and walked around. He observed the area surrounding the mansion.
A low fence was constructed around the mansion. It released a faint blue barrier with static electricity that separated the energy inside and outside.
Agents and policemen in special suits that covered from their head to toes, similar to a hazmat suit. But those suits were silver-colored with the goal of preventing NES from reaching them, not chemical hazard.
"It isn’t sunset yet so there should be no activity at the moment." Selina said.
"Let’s go take a look." Mater meowed.
They approached the gate of the blue barrier. It led directly to the front porch of the mansion.
Two DSI agents stepped up and stopped them.
"Have you registered?" An agent said.
"Registered?"
As soon as Selina showed her confusion, a woman from far away pointed at her and laughed.
"Are you stupid? You have to register your turn to enter the haunted area first. Thinking is definitely not a habit you have."
"Welp. This bitch is going to die now." Mater licked his paw on the side and watched everything. If it was Selina from before, he would have done something. But his owner was more than capable to stand up for herself now.
The DSI agents sighed. There have been so many fights between the Bounty Hunters lately. Especially around the Bounty Area, these fools couldn’t have enough.
Selina’s head snapped to the woman. She scanned her from top to bottom.
"I don’t know what is more tragic. Your squeaky voice or your ugly face." Selina grinned widely.
The two DSI agents covered their mouths. They tried as best as they could to not laugh. But everyone already knew they wanted to.
Mater didn’t have such modesty though. The black cat held his belly and rolled on the ground laughing. His squeaky cat laugh was surprisingly loud. It made the female hunter even more embarrassed.
"Damn, girl."
"That one has a sharp tongue."
"Heh. Linda tried to bully a newcomer again."
Some Hunter commented. They didn’t intervene and only sat around to witness everything. For them, it was a good show.
"You dirty bitch."
The woman was enraged. She was okay in appearance. But obviously she was very insecure with it. Selina’s blind punch had hit her right in the gut where it hurt most.
The average female hunter approached Selina.
"Shit is about to go down!"
"Let’s bet! Who wants to bet on the newcomer? Who wants to bet on Linda?"
"Fight girls! Tear each other’s clothes out!" Some pervert said.
Selina’s face immediately lost its hospitality. Her face darkened almost immediately and was taken over by something sinister.
Chaos Tentacles reached out from Selina and wrapped around the strange hunter.
The female hunter wasn’t able to move even a little bit.
"She can restrain physical being!" Someone was sitting and eating noodles at the same time. He stood up in surprise and dropped his noodle bowl.
All the hunters immediately backed off.
Selina got closer to the unknown hunter. Her fingers caressed the hunter’s face like a lover.
"How soft." Selina grinned. "I wonder what would happen if I carved this face out?"
"Please. Please let me go. I didn’t..." The female hunter begged. Tears welled up in her eyes.
"Certainly. But you have to pay something for that."
Selina backslapped the female hunter and let her go.
The bounty hunter fell to her knees before covering her face and ran away.
Selina turned to the DSI agents, "She started it."
The agent shrugged, "Reasonable force. It’s obviously self-defense."
"Thanks, guys. Where can I register to get inside the mansion?" Selina said.
The agent pointed to a container. "The place is currently under Detective Flintstone’s command. You can find him there."
Selina picked Mater up and held him with her arms. They approached the container. This time, no one stood in her way anymore. When her eyes met with another, they moved away instinctively.
"Damn, Selina! You have changed a lot since the last time we met." A familiar voice came over.
"Becky?" The short girl with twin tails approached Selina.
"Ah. This shorty is here," The black cat meowed.
"How have you been, Sel?" Becky smiled.
"Very good." Selina smiled then pulled Becky over for a quick hug. Selina became much more expressive recently. Probably because of the change in her Chaos Singularity.
Becky widened her eyes in surprise but didn’t fight it.
"Want to go register together?" Becky said.
"Sure thing."
