Chapter 99: Scandal

Duke Salvador and the other Dukes waited for the Emperor and the first Princess to move out of the ballroom.

As soon as the main characters left, the ballroom became chaotic again. Everyone was talking about the situation. The first Princess had a reputation in the Empire and if she would be the next Emperor some people would have to reconsider their decision.

The Crown Prince, Prince Cedric went up to his mother as he said in a soft tone. "You knew about it?"

The Empress was confused. It was a new experience for her as well. She never knew that her beloved daughter would show symptoms to control all the other elements.

"I did not know. You know it yourself son." The Empress said but her mind was filled with different situations. "You have your spies planted in the Palace as well."

"Even if that is true I know that you know ways to handle people." Prince Cedric’s eyes narrowed. "You may not care which one of your children becomes the future heir but I do."

A cruel smile spread on his face as Prince Cedric said in a firm tone. "I will not lose the position to anyone. Even if I had to fight my own sister."

The Empress did not say anything else. There was nothing more to add. After all, the two fightings were her children.

[One is my daughter and the other is my son.]

[Who should I stand up for?]

—--

All the dukes were able to manage to bring the situation under control.

Soon the people were dancing and the music started playing. The steps created by the first Princess were destroyed and a plain floor was made. Duke Garfield was looking into the restoration and soon everything went back to normal.

But even though people were smiling and drinking, their talks were only filled with the possibilities of the first Princess being their next Emperor.

Many murmured their heads and no one else could do anything. The dukes wanted to control the situation but they were unable to. Not everyone’s mouth could be closed.

Once everything was settled, Duke Salvador looked for the fifth Princess, but he could not find her. An uneasy feeling settled in his heart.

’Where did she go?’

Duke Salvador looked around as he walked into the ballroom in hopes of seeing the fifth Princess but Princess Cassandra was nowhere to be found.

Duke Salvador moved towards a balcony where no one was present. His mind was telling him that something was wrong with the fifth Princess.

’Is Princess Cassandra in danger?’

Aiden looked outside with a heavy heart but soon he saw Princess Cassandra on the ground. He did not know when she had left the hall and reached the garden without anyone noticing but she was not alone.

Aiden’s eyes darkened as the heat in his body increased. The anger he was feeling was increasing by the minute as he abandoned everything and walked out of the ballroom.

As Aiden got neared he could hear the discussion that was happening. His hand formed a fist as he stopped himself from entering.

"It is happening earlier than we expected." Prince Carl said as he looked at Princess Cassandra. "We have to move out soon. Is the Princess sure that she will come with us?"

Cassandra was busy with her own thoughts. She could not understand what the Vivere Kingdom’s people were saying but her heart was in choice. She felt like something wrong was happening.

"Yes," Princess Cassandra managed to say as she looked at Prince Carl.

"Good. Teimei." Prince Carl moved his attention towards his sister. "You protect the fifth Princess from now on."

"Yes, brother. I know." Princess Teimei nodded. As she moved her attention towards Lord Bentham. "The Lord should convince his father the Duke to push for our departure at the earliest."

"Yes, Princess Teimei is right." Prince Carl agreed. "The Emperor has a lot to offer now after what happened today. He would not mind sending you and Princess Cassandra off to another Kingdom."

Lord Bentham nodded his head in agreement. "Princesses do not think a lot. You need to rest. I will take care of everything."

Princess Cassandra nodded her head as she looked at all the three standing beside her. The atmosphere was a little tense as she tried hard not to let anything else control her.

’I am not feeling good.’

’I feel like a part of me has been removed.’

Cassandra closed her eyes in pain as she took deep breaths. She tried controlling her heart rate as Cassandra cleared her mind.

’I cannot talk about all of this with them.’

’I need to talk with Duke Salvador.’

’He will be able to help me.’

’I do not want to stay here but I do not want to go to the Vivere Kingdom alone as well.’

’Lord Bentham is not the one I can trust.’

Cassandra looked at everyone and smiled. "I will be in my room. I am not feeling well."

Everyone nodded as if they understood the situation Princess Cassandra was going through.

"I will take you there." Princess Teimei said as she tried to touch Princess Cassandra’s hand but the fifth Princess topped her.

"I feel dizzy with the way you travel." Cassandra took a step back. "I will go and find Amy. She might be worrying about me."

Cassandra bowed as she left. The smile on her face fell down as soon as she was out of the place. But before Cassandra could go far her hand was held and there was a sudden pull.

Princess Cassandra lost her balance as she fell into a warm embrace. Her heart rate was rolling fast. Cassandra did not know how to manage this situation.

Cassandra wanted to shout. How can someone pull a Princess in such a way but before Cassandra could act on her thoughts the familiar voice fell in her ears.

"Shh... It’s me."

Princess Cassandra’s eyes widened as her fingers curled into a fist over the man’s chest.

’Duke Salvador.’

Cassandra looked up at the man who was looking beyond her. And suddenly he pushed the Princess deeper into the embrace.

"Bear with it." Duke Salvador’s tone was low as a whisper.

Cassandra’s mind went blank. She swallowed hard as she looked around in amazement, but her head could not be moved. Aiden’s hand held her in a place.

Cassandra’s body started to heat up as only the loud beating of heartbeats could be heard. Although the rhythm was irregular, it brought a shy smile to Princess Cassandra’s face.

After Duke Salvador was sure that they were alone in the garden he released the breath he did not know he was holding. His eyes looked down at the small head, staying in a place like an obedient child. Aiden could see the blush filling Princess Cassandra’s neck and ears. He wanted to tease the fifth Princess but Aiden knew that this was not the right time. Even if the feeling was magical the situation was unsuitable.

"We are alone now." Duke Salvador said as he removed his hold on the fifth Princess.

Cassandra blinked a few times before she swallowed. She stood straight as she looked at the garden avoiding the Duke’s gaze.

"Princess," Aiden said in a soft tone but Princess Cassandra did not react. He could tell the fifth Princess was being shy but it was not the time.

’I will make you shy some other day and even sit back and enjoy but now is not the time.’ Aiden thought as a smile played on his face.

"Princess, we have a situation to take care of." Duke Salvador said in a serious tone. His face showed the concern he had in his heart.

Cassandra came back from her dreamland as she saw the man standing in front of her.

’Yes, we have a situation.’ Cassandra gathered herself as she closed her eyes and normalized her emotions.

"Yes, I understand." Cassandra said but her eyes were looking around, "But this is not a safe place to talk."

Duke Salvador looked at the fifth Princess for a few seconds before he nodded. "Do you have any suggestions?"

"My room." Princess Cassandra said without thinking. "I will send Amy to rest in a few minutes. The Duke can come then."

Duke Salvador nodded his head. "I will be there soon."

"Yes." Princess Cassandra moved. "But make sure that Ed comes to meet me and not Duke Salvador?"

Aiden could not understand why the fifth Princess said those words. He knew that Princess Cassandra knew that he was Ed so why have a mask in between them?

Cassandra could sense the confusion in Aiden’s face. She smiled as she took a step towards the Duke before saying in a whisper. "Ed is my guard who no one can question being in my room for protection but it would be a scandal if Duke Salvador was found in my room."

"And who would enter Princess Cassandra’s room without her permission?" Duke Salvador asked with raised eyebrows.

"Princess Teimei will."
