CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 73: Treating The Wound

Cassandra’s breathing hitched at Blazh’s thoughts.

’Ed is hurt?’

’Why?’

’Why would the Duke do that?’

’No, it cannot happen. The Duke sent Ed to me because he trusts him the most.’

’He even told me to teach everything from the book to Ed.’

Cassandra looked at Blazh as her eyes showed panic. "Where is Ed?" Cassandra asked as her voice trembled at the end.

Blazh did not reply. He looked away from the fifth Princess as he thought. ’Maybe in the back forest near the little waterfall.’

Cassandra swallowed as her gaze shook. If what Blazh was thinking was true, then it would be a good place to bury a dead body.

"Amy," Cassandra shouted in panic. Her brain had stopped processing a long back as worry and anxiety-filled her head.

"Princess." Amy came running as she saw Cassandra’s eyes filled with water. It was as if the tears could drip down the fifth Princess’s face at any moment.

Amy panicked as she walked towards Cassandra in a hurry. Her sight shifted towards the man beside her. Amy knew him well. She narrowed her eyes and blamed him in silence.

"Amy, I am not feeling well. Can we go for a walk now?" Cassandra asked but a slight shiver ran down through her spin.

"Yes Princess, I will prepare water for your bath and th .."

"No. I want to go now." Cassandra took a step forward. She was in a hurry. How could she dress up now when her friend is hurt somewhere in the forest.

[No, Princess cannot leave like this.]

[There are people outside.]

[With the recent rumors the situation can get worse.]

[Princess has to be careful.]

Amy’s mind was in chaos but she controlled her emotions well as she walked towards princess Cassandra and stopped her in her walk. "Princess has to change her dress at least before she goes out."

Cassandra looked down as she realized that she was still in her nightgown. "Prepare it right away."

Amy nodded as she ran to get things ready. She knew that something was bothering the fifth Princess but Amy had no confidence in saying anything.

[I need to talk with the Princess about the rumors.]

[Maybe after the Princess comes back.]

Cassandra listened to Amy’s thoughts. She too wanted to know what rumors were going around but this was not the time. Cassandra knew that there was something more important to know.

Cassandra turned around to ask Blazh what Amy told the Duke that made him so mad at Ed, but soon she saw that Blazh was nowhere to be seen.

’He left.’

Cassandra took deep breaths. ’It is good otherwise I don’t know how I will answer ’how to you know’ questions’

Cassandra saw Amy getting her clothes as she took them from her lady in waiting’s hand.

"Amy, you did prepare some medicinal lotions last time right?"

Amy nodded as confusion filled her gaze before it turned into panic. "Princess, are you hurt somewhere?"

Cassandra shook her head. "No, I am not but I need it. Can you get it for me till I get ready?"

Amy looked at Cassandra but soon she nodded and left to get it.

[Princess is behaving strangely.]

[Did something happen?]

Amy thought as she walked out slowly.

Cassandra did not care what Amy thought for the time being. She got changed in a hurry as she waited for Amy to bring the medicinal lotion.

Cassandra took it from Amy’s hand in a hurry. It was a small bottle that she could hide in her palms.

"Princess .." Amy looked at the bottle and the fifth Princess’s face. The Princess was in such a hurry when she took the bottle as if her life depended on it.

"Are you sure you have not been hurt anywhere?" Amy asked. Her face was full of concern.

"Hmm .." Cassandra nodded as she looked at Amy. "I want to have a quiet walk in the forest."

"That..." Amy tried to interject. Leaving the Princess alone would be dangerous.

"Don’t worry. I will not go far. You can stand at the forest’s entrance." Cassandra said as she started walking out of the room.

"Yes," Amy nodded as she walked after the fifth Princess.

Cassandra could see the eyes of people on her. It was intimidating and uncomfortable but Cassandra did not care. Her mind was filled with blood dripping from Ed’s body as it blocked all the thoughts of other people.

"Princess, slow down a little. You might get hurt." Amy said. She was practically running at this point as she tried to catch Princess Cassandra.

Although Cassandra was only walking, her spread had increased at some point, but she did not stop at Amy’s words.

Cassandra walked directly into the forest not caring about anything else. As soon as Amy was about to enter the forest Cassandra turned around as she said. "You stay here Amy, I will be out soon."

Amy wanted to say something as she extended her hand to stop the fifth Princess, but before the words could leave Amy’s mouth, Princess Cassandra was nowhere to be seen.

[Will Princess be okay?]

[I hope she doesn’t get hurt.]

[I hope Princess will become normal again.]

Cassandra put Amy’s thoughts at the back of her mind as she walked through the woods.

Cassandra could imagine what Amy might have said to Duke Salvador. It was quite evident from Amy’s thoughts that she did not like Ed. Amy always felt that Ed was clingy to her but Cassandra felt otherwise. Cassandra felt that she was the one forcing Ed to stay with her due to her own selfishness.

’I wanted a friend.’

’If Ed is hurt because of me then ..’

Cassandra’s eyes were moist as tears started sliding down her cheeks, but she did not care. Cassandra was walking in a hurry as her eyes searched everywhere. She knew where the waterfall was but she was a little afraid to go there.

’What if I don’t find Ed there?’

’What if Ed is really ..’

Cassandra shook her head in denial. ’Don’t think unlucky things.’

Cassandra swallowed as she made her way towards the waterfall. The fifth Princess had come here many times. She was always alone and walking around the forest was one of her guilty pleasures that she loved to do. The air around the forest made her feel alive.

’I loved this place.’

’But coming here does bring some bad memories back.’

Cassandra soon heard the sound of a waterfall. The water droplets dripped down onto the rocks creating harmony.

’I am near.’ Cassandra’s gaze narrowed as her mind focused on a direction.

’He has to be there.’ Cassandra’s hold on the bottle tightened as her steps moved in a hurry. Her heartbeats were running faster than expected as Cassandra was getting nervous.

"Ed?" Cassandra called out as she got near the area. Her sight looked around in search of the man she was searching for.

"Ed .."

Princess Cassandra did not see anyone there. Her heart stopped for a second. ’As she moved towards the waterfall the horror in her heart grew stronger. Her heartbeats increased in panic.

As Cassandra took some steps towards the waterfall, she realized that there was a little tint of red in the flowing water.

’Is it blood?’

’Is Ed really hurt?’

Cassandra was getting anxious as her sight followed the source of blood. There was panic in her gaze as she looked up.

"ED .." Cassandra shouted as she ran towards the man who was by the waterfall washing his wound.

Princess Cassandra ran towards Ed as she took his hand into her. "How did this happen? Why are you hurt?"

There was panic in Cassandra’s voice as she poured some water on it. She cleared the wound as she took the medicinal lotion. "Stay still."

Cassandra blew the air on the wound on his palm as she opened the medicinal lotion bottle and she poured it into Ed’s palm.

"Princess .." Aiden looked at the fifth Princess. There was an unknown emotion brewing in his eyes.

"Shh .." Cassandra ignored Ed as her whole focus was on treating the wound.

Aiden took in the care provided by the fifth Princess. He could see that Princess Cassandra’s gaze was focused on his palm. Her lips blew soft air in fear of hurting him. Princess Cassandra’s fingers trembled as she applied for the medicine as if he would die any moment if any more force was applied to it.

The tears in Cassandra’s eyes refused to stop as they flew down her cheeks. Aiden was sure that the fifth Princess had not even realized that she was crying at this moment.

Aiden’s gaze softened as he looked at the eyelashes of the Princess that were wet due to water.

’Princess Cassandra is crying for me.’

’She cares about me.’

’Yes, Princess Cassandra cares about Ed, the guard that is her friend.’

Aiden’s gaze sharpened suddenly as he continued thinking. His body tightened as he thought further.

’Princess Cassandra should like Ed as a friend, but I will make sure she loves Aiden as a lover.’
