CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 66: Not Think?
Amy came running into the room hurriedly.
"Princess .."
Cassandra looked at her breathless friend whose hands were on her chest trying to take in as much air as she could.
’Why is Amy running around in such a hurry?’
’Did something happen?’
’Is she hurt?’
Cassandra looked at Amy who stood straight now and wanted to say something to her. Cassandra nodded her head with her eyes looking straight at Amy, waiting in anticipation.
Amy swallowed as she continued. "Princess Valeria had been detained at the Outer Palace."
Cassandra’s eyes widened as she looked outside the door subconsciously. Many maids were running around in a hurry. She could understand that every Princess would be going to pay the respect before the First Princess is to be taken but why?
’Why did it happen?’
’Was it because of what she did to the black eagle?’
Cassandra swallowed as she looked outside of the window. The man that was always there was nowhere to be seen. An unknown uncomfort crept into Cassandra’s heart.
’He is not here.’
’I will ask Ed when he comes back.’
Cassandra’s eyes dropped as she thought. She moved her gaze towards Amy whose gaze was still filled with panic.
"Do we have to go to pay our respect?" Cassandra asked in a low tone.
"No, Princess." Amy’s words made Cassandra’s eyes widen. She could not understand why that was? There were still people running around in panic.
"Then?" Cassandra asked. So many questions were running in her mind that Amy caught in a second.
"The one who gave the order was the Emperor himself. All the Princesses and their maids are informed that they should be careful while treating their assigned guards."
Cassandra nodded her head. The incident would be a base for a long time. If someone who was powerful enough with such an influence could be punished then the other Princesses’ life would be in danger.
"So we should be careful around Ed," Cassandra whispered.
"Yes."
"No need for that."
Amy’s and Ed’s voices cut through each other.
Cassandra’s and Amy’s eyes widened as they looked to the man who had entered the room unknowingly as he closed the door, isolating them from the rest.
"That ..." Amy took a deep breath as she took a step forward standing between Princess Cassandra and Ed. She had never liked the man.
Amy had always thought that Ed’s eyes were dishonest when looking at Princess Cassandra. It was as if she was the only thing in his sight. Amy could sense that he was doing it subconsciously. Maybe the man did not know it himself that he looked at Princess Cassandra with such care.
Amy always thought that it was unfair. The Princess was to marry Lord Bentham soon. It would be a problem if the Princess started having feelings for a guard. Although Amy knew that Princess Cassandra did not love Lord Bentham. But he was a good match that could bring her out of the misery she was living in now.
Aiden could feel the hostility in Amy’s gaze. The days he was in here protecting Cassandra, Aiden had seen how much this lady in waiting cared about Cassandra.
’Her attachment with the Princess is true.’
’Maybe that’s why I should forgive her once.’
Aiden thought as he took a step forward. His aura increases suppressing Amy’s gaze.
"Can I have a talk with you?" Amy swallowed as she looked at Ed. The determination was visible in her gaze.
Aiden did not answer as he raised his eyebrows. It was as if he was telling Amy to continue here. That he would not leave the room.
Cassandra could sense the hostility between the two. She sighed as she took a step forward. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Amy, tell me your concern." Cassandra looked at Amy. Although she knew what her lady in waiting was thinking, Cassandra could not help but ask.
"Princess, he should not be here all the time," Amy said in a small voice. There was a slight shiver in her tone as he looked down.
"Amy .." Cassandra touched Amy’s hand unaware that Aiden’s hands had long formed a fist.
"Princess none of the other guards come out so casually. It is as if they are not there until they are called for or any danger is in the surrounding." Amy’s voice increased subconsciously as she looked at Cassandra.
Amy’s eyes were filled with blame as she moved her gaze towards Ed. "But he is always here. Princess this is not right. You are to be married to Lor .."
"It is not wrong." Ed cut through Amy’s words as he walked towards Amy. His eyes narrowed as his voice was ready to kill. "I am here to protect the Princess under the order of Duke Salvador."
Aiden looked at Cassandra as if he was smiling, but Cassandra could not tell as only his eyes were visible. "I believe the Princess knows why I am doing what I am doing." Aiden raised his eyebrows as if commanding Cassandra to follow along.
Cassandra looked at Ed’s eyes for a few seconds as she nodded. "Yes. I am aware." Cassandra took a deep breath as she looked at Amy. "Amy, you are thinking too much into it."
Amy’s hold on Cassandra increased. "Princess, Lord Bentham wouldn’t like you being near .."
"Lord Bentham knows about it," Ed said, greeting his teeth. He took a step forward as if he was ready to kill.
Amy could feel the danger rotating in her head as she took a step back subconsciously. "You should not worry about it. The Princess is not married yet after all. Things can change."
Cassandra’s and Amy’s eyes widened in shock at Ed’s words. They looked at Ed with a questionable gaze.
Aiden realized what he had said looking at the reaction he was receiving. He continued. "Lord Bentham had said to the Duke that the marriage could end if any one of them fell in love with someone else."
After he said it, Aiden refused to say any more words as he looked at Cassandra trying to analyze her reactions.
Cassandra was shocked at first but soon realized that Lord Bentham would really have said that. After all, Duke Salvador and Lord Bentham were friends.
Cassandra saw the gaze of Amy who looked at her. "Princess .."
Cassandra sighed as she held Amy’s hand to give her confidence. "Amy, it’s okay. I know what I am doing."
[I know that princess.]
[But the man here has feelings for you.]
[It is so clear in his gaze that he could not hide it.]
Cassandra’s breaths hitched as she looked at Ed who was staring at her hands held into Amy’s hand.
’Ed has feelings for me?’
’No, it is not possible.’
’How can it be?’
’Amy is thinking too much into it.’
’I need to calm down.’
Cassandra looked at Amy who was quiet. "You trust me, right?"
Amy nodded her head but her eyes were filled with blame as she looked at Ed. It was as if she was silently saying. I trust you but not him.
The hint did not escape Aiden’s eyes as he sneered. He greeted his teeth as his gaze narrowed.
Aiden’s hands were itching to harm something but he endured it.
’Lord Bentham is everywhere.’
’Why do people like him so much?’
’Even her lady in waiting has a favorable view about him.’
’Why should it be like this.’
Aiden clenched his hand. He did not say anything but did not leave either.
Amy’s eyes were filled with uneasiness but she endured it. She was determined that she would stop Ed from being so close with Princess Cassandra.
[A guard should know his place.]
[Princess Cassandra is a Princess.]
[The guard should not be so close to her.]
[And why are you looking at me like this?]
[Just because we cannot do anything to you, you dare look down on us?]
[So brave.]
[How will Duke Salvador react when he knows that you are trying to take his friend’s wife away.]
Amy looked at Ed, who was seen by Cassandra. She knew that Amy was very protective of her.
Amy’s eyes narrowed. [I know what you are thinking. Even if the Princess does not. I can see it clearly.]
Cassandra’s eyes widened as she looked between Amy and Ed. It was as if it was strictly her mind just now what was happening.
’I cannot read his mind.’
Cassandra’s gaze was trembling. Her breath hitched as her hand on Amy tightened.
"Amy .." Cassandra said in a hurry. She looked at her and continued. "I want to have a talk with him."
"Princess .." Amy shook her head in denial. She was frightened leaving the Princess alone with Ed.
"Amy." Cassandra nodded telling Amy to trust her. Amy swallowed as he left the room.
Once the room was silent Cassandra moved towards her seat as she sat there.
’Why did I not think about it before?’
’How can I not hear his thoughts?’
Cassandra looked up where Ed was standing. "Ed, do you not think?"
