Chapter 51: Let’s Share

Cassandra was sitting on her bed in a daze.

Cassandra did not know what had happened, but she felt revived in the morning.

"It has been so long that I have felt this way," Cassandra said in a soft voice. Her tone was filled with energy as she smiled ignorantly looking outside at the rising sun.

Cassandra had not slept so peacefully for a long time. The temperature had suddenly dropped at night and Cassandra had moved into a series of nightmares, but soon she found a source of light in it, spreading the warmth.

Cassandra moved over towards the source of heat as she tried to cover her whole body in the light, bringing herself out of the series of nightmares. And soon the warmth spread in her body, putting her deep into sleep.

When Cassandra opened her eyes, she felt refreshed. Rubbing her eyes, she called for Amy who brought water for the Princess.

"Amy, should we go out for a walk?" Cassandra asked in a happy tone.

It was true that if one had a good sleep, their morning would be refreshed as well. Cassandra felt the same way.

Princess Cassandra wanted to go for a walk, look at flowers and butterflies and have her breakfast in the garden surrounded by nature. But before she could do any of it, her little dream was shattered into pieces.

Amy looked down as she said in a soft voice. "The Emperor had called everyone in the royal hall."

Cassandra was confused at Amy’s words. ’Why would the Emperor call everyone at this point of time?’

"Do you know why we are called that?" Cassandra asked in confusion.

Amy was silent for a few seconds before she continued, "It is said that a peace treaty has been signed between the Vivera Kingdom and Elvira Empire, so their crown prince and his sister will be visiting soon."

Cassandra nodded her head as she looked down. The Vivera Kingdom was a forbidden place and they always had a conflict with the Elvira Empire. It was only recently that Duke Salvador defeated one of its borders, resulting in a treaty.

’But never have the Crown Prince come into the Empire.’

’Is it a peace treaty or declaration of war?’ Cassandra wondered.

’Maybe the Emperor is fearing the same thing. After all, it is a possibility.’

Cassandra could sense that the Emperor was a little reluctant to get the crown Prince of another country on his own. As a huge army comes with it.

’I wonder what will happen next.’ Cassandra sighed as she looked at Amy with a smile. "Then when should we be going?"

Amy replied the time as she waited for her master’s next order.

"Hmmm ... Amy bring breakfast here. After eating we can get ready." Cassandra said in a soft tone.

Cassandra got up from the bed as she walked towards the window. She looked outside at the now rising sun. The yellow sky spread through the thick forest as the birds and butterflies flew around as if they were dancing.

Looking at such an illustration, Princess Cassandra sat on the window bench. Cassandra Cassandra knew that she could not get ready immediately and go out to feel the morning breeze but at least she could sit here and have her breakfast in peace.

Amy did not waste any more time as she rushed around preparing for Princess Cassandra’s breakfast.

Initially, it was not a lot but suddenly the breakfast quantity increased significantly. When Amy brought in the breakfast, Cassandra’s eyes widened as she blinked in disbelief before rubbing her eyes.

"Are you sure this is my breakfast?" Cassandra asked in confusion.

After all, Cassandra got for breakfast that consisted of a few pieces of bread milk, and a salad but today her plate was filled with colors.

Cassandra looked at the plate that she could hardly finish.

Amy nodded as she said, "Yes Princess. this is for you. The chef has personally made this breakfast today exclusive for the Princess."

Cassandra was confused as she was trying to come up with an answer. "But why?" Cassandra asked, to which Amy replied giggling.

"Because the princess has changed."

"I have changed?" Cassandra asked in confusion.

"Yes, Princess Cassandra is not only the fifth princess of the Empire but also the fiance of Lord Bentham. Even if the people of the palace used to ignore you before, they can’t ignore you now."

Cassandra was in deep thoughts as she took the plate from Amy and placed it before her. There was no denying that whatever Amy was saying was true. Status does bring in privilege and now Cassandra was experiencing it first handedly.

Cassandra ate a small amount of food into her mouth as they melted instantly. The taste has exceptionally increased. Initially, Cassandra used to get food that was nearer to tasteless. Some of them were salty and sometimes the salad was bland, but now everything was well proportioned.

For the first time in a long run, Cassandra thought that she was treated like a princess.

Cassandra looked down and felt that the proportion she got was too much for her. A lady who used to eat only to survive was given the food that she usually ate for five days, how could Cassandra eat all this in a go? Her stomach and mind were not ready for it.

Cassandra looked at Amy as she said in a happy tone. "Bring in your plate as well, let’s share."

Amy shook her head in denial and she took a step back. "No princess, I cannot."

Cassandra smiled innocently and she took Amy’s hand into hers. "Amy, when I was hungry, you used to share your food with me. I am not a heartless person. You have taken care of me over the years and now that I am experiencing such a thing in life, how can I forget you? I will not be able to swallow the food down. I would feel extremely guilty."

Amy’s eyes were filled with tears. She looked at the princess whose eyes were calm and composed.

Amy knew that there was no denying to the princess. There were also times when different Amy had first handedly observed other Princesses treating their lady in waiting like slaves. They talked with their lady in waiting, if they wanted some information or to dig up a rumor but as soon as they were done their lady in waiting would be treated worse than trash.

But Princess Cassandra was different. Amy always felt that they were like sisters, but were different identities. Amy had a fear that maybe the status that Princess Cassandra had gotten would make her different, make her like other Princesses.

If that would have happened, Amy would not have blamed Princess Cassandra, After all, it is in human nature to change. Only a few people remain humble and nice even if they go on to a higher position, but all of Amy’s worries evaporate in the air looking at how Cassandra was treating her.

The bond they have shared over the years has not disappeared but has gotten stronger.

Soon Amy entered as Cassandra and she shared the breakfast together, one sitting on the window bench looking outside while the other sitting on the floor near her master. The atmosphere was peaceful as a cold breeze entered the room. The morning was a happy one.

------------

The Royal hall was filled with people.

The Emperor and the Empress sat in the main chair followed by the first and Second Queens. The first Princess, Princess Valeria took the leading position along with her brother the Crown Prince, Prince Cedric.

Princess Cassandra sat in her usual place at the end. She was thankful that in the Royal family the position is not based on status but power. Cassandra knew that she could not be able to handle so much focus on her alone.

Cassandra looked around to realize that all the influential people in the Empire were present in the palace today. All the nobles and high-ranking officials were worried as if they were facing a situation similar to war. Their faces were covered with a frown as they looked dissatisfied with the outcome that they had to experience.

Cassandra saw that the Bentham’s were sitting there as Lord Bentham looked at her with a smile. Cassandra knew that it was an act in front of people so that they would not doubt their relationship. Cassandra cooperated wholeheartedly as she smiled back at Lord Bentham.

Her gaze moved past, but she was not sure who she was searching for. Cassandra felt like something was missing.

Amidst it all, Cassandra could feel a pair of eyes staring at her from a distance. Cassandra’s gaze moved towards it as she saw a man near the end. Cassandra could not see the face as his face was covered in darkness but Cassandra knew who it was.

The sudden red eyes glowed in the darkness making Cassandra shiver in fright. Her spin had a chill as she looked away at a speed. Cassandra knew it was the man whose thoughts she could not listen to. Duke Aiden Salvador.
