CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 172: Save the Lord
Seeing the witch fall down everyone was stated.
They were about to be exhausted as well but after understanding that they have defeated the witch they could take a breath of relief.
Everyone lowered their hands as they looked at each other. The wind element lowered the pressure and they all came down to the ground. Princess Cassandra moved towards Princess Elvira as soon her legs touched the land.
Princess Cassandra’s eyes were still a little watery. She wanted to make sure that the person who was the reason for all of her misfortune is dead. She sat down on the ground as she observed the loveless body of the witch. No matter how hard she stared at it, Princess Cassandra could not feel satisfied. Even though she had taken revenge. Taken it for Princess Maxima, taken it for Amy, and yet the feeling of happiness was no way near her.
Princess Cassandra struggled as she bit her lips. She wanted to shout. She wanted to cry. A single drop of tear rolled down her cheek but it was soon dried up, maybe she had no water to spare. All of her energy had dried up, all of her strength had vanished.
"Butterfly." Duke Salvador touched Princess Cassandra’s shoulder, but the fifth Princess did not respond. She had lost everything that was near to her. She looked at Princess Elvira as she still remembered her smiling face when she looked at Amy’s dead body.
The witch’s words still revolved around her mind, mocking her that if she had not loved Amy to this extent, then maybe she would have been alive.
[Was it really my mistake?]
[If Amy was not so close to me, she would have been alive.]
[Everyone near me dies.]
Princess Cassandra’s mind was getting easier. She had no powers in her thoughts. Cassandra had completely forgotten that she still was in link with others through her thoughts. They all knew what the fifth Princess was thinking.
The Tigers took a step forward but Duke Salvador looked at them with his red eyes, staring in anger. He knew what the fifth Princess was going through. He also understood that no matter what others said or did, only Princess Cassandra could ease the suffering that she was experiencing.
They had won the battle with the witch, but now Princess Cassandra had to win the battle that was within her.
The elements stopped as they stood still. They had a different opinion on what the fifth Princess was thinking. Even if Princess Cassandra did not love Amy as she did, Amy loved her a lot. Someone or the other close to her was going to lose their life.
But soon they felt weird energy evolving from Princess Cassandra. Their eyes shifted at the fifth Princess who was absorbing the energy from the witch. The elements were sure that she was doing it unintentionally.
The tigers were confused. They looked around only to realize that something was wrong.
"The darkness that the witch had cultivated is trying to stabilize the aura in her body." The darkness element said in a worried tone.
"Princess Cassandra cannot absorb it. That will cost her her life." The fire element said.
Although their words were light it was heard by everyone else. Duke Salvador looked back as he asked. "What needs to be done?"
The elements said together. "Destroy her body."
Princess Cassandra who was on the ground stood up after she heard the words. It was not as if she was completely lost, She was still in her senses even though her heart was sad.
"I will do it." Princess Cassandra whispered, but her words were still heard.
"Butterfly .." Duke Salvador wanted to stop the fifth Princess. Destroying the body was not something that she needed to do on her own. They could take care of it.
"No, I have to do it, otherwise Amy’s sacrifice would be meaningless." Princess Cassandra’s words were sharp. She did not wait for anyone as she took a step back.
Princess Cassandra narrowed her gaze as she smiled. It was finally time to stop everything. Princess Cassandra moved her hand as a bubble of darkness formed around Princess Elvira’s body.
Princess Cassandra was focused as a fireball invaded the bubble. Soon the witch’s body was on fire. Princess Elvira and her aura were burning inside the bubble.
Princess Cassandra stood there looking at it. The fire continued for a long time till every flesh on the witch was destroyed, but Princess Cassandra did not change her expression.
She simply stood there and looked. Her tears had long dried up and her sadness had gone away. Only the image of Amy could be seen. Princess Cassandra moved her head as she looked at the lifeless body of Amy on the ground that was at a distance. Princess Cassandra swallowed and all her emotions came back again.
Princess Cassandra rubbed her eyes as she saw the body of the witch. Cassandra removed the layer of darkness as she moved the fire with a layer of water and then with the help of the wind element, it became ice.
Princess Elviara’s body was already fully destroyed. Even her bones were damaged. Princess Cassandra did not wait for anything as she moved her hand and a layer of earth engulfed the witch within itself. The existence of the witch was destroyed and nothing remained.
Lord Bentham took a step forward but soon his heart was paining. He fell to the ground as his body temperature increased. Hearing a loud voice everyone turned around as they looked at Achard.
They weren’t near him to help Lord Bentham, but the elements stopped them.
"Don’t touch him." The elements said. "He had consumed the crystals."
"So?" Prince Cedric asked. His eyes were shivering.
"The crystals should not exist outside from its owner’s body. The crystals that they have are from Princess Maxima because of the witch. It was only effective till the witch was alive. Her magic was keeping it alive. But now Princess Elvira is gone, and so are her powers."
The elements looked at Lord Bentham as they surrounded his body. The tigers continued. "Those who have absorbed the powers without consent will die. The crystals will grow from their body as it finally kills the person from within."
"But you can save the Lord, right?" Blazh asked as he looked at the lament.
Duke Salvador said, "HE had helped us in the fight. We cannot let him die." Although Aiden Salvador had a little fight with his best friend, he could not blame him. Even if Achard had told lies, their friendship was true.
The elements looked at the fifth Princess who looked at Duke Salvador. She had lost her best friend, She did not want Duke Salvador to lose his. Princess Cassandra closed her eyes as she swallowed. She looked at the elements as she nodded her head slightly. "Save the Lord."
The elements were given the instruction. They nodded as they looked at Achard Bentham. They opened their mouths as their power went into Lord Bentham’s body. Soon the crystals that were about to burst in Lord Bentham were absorbed and melted.
Lord Bentham opened his eyes when everything was over. He sat on the ground as he touched his heart softly. The pain was gone. His tense body relaxed as the sweat on his forehead had dried up. Lord Bentham was feeling refreshed.
If it was not all. Achard Bentham could feel that the water element in his body was long gone. He had only the darkness element in him. He was a pure darkness mage.
Achard Bentham looked at the tigers as he nodded slightly as if thanking them for saving his life.
Princess Cassandra smiled as she walked slowly towards the dead body Amy. But soon Duke Salvador moved with her. He held her hands making the fifth Princess look at him in surprise.
"Why?" Princess Cassandra asked. She wanted to ask why he left his friend alone? Why was he going with her?
As if understanding the fifth Princess’s thoughts, Duke Salvador’s lips curled up. It wasn’t a happy smile, it was tinted with sadness.
"Achard is alright now, but you are not." Duke Salvador’s gaze fixed on Princess Cassandra’s face. "I know what Amy means to you, butterfly. I know that it is still hurting you."
Duke Salvador’s words were soft as if he was the one who had lost someone near to him. Although he and Amy were not close, they could be considered friends. Amy was sincere toward the fifth Princess. She loved Cassandra. When discussing strategies, she had interesting insights on them.
After getting along for so long, Aiden thought Amy was one of his friends.
They reached Amy’s body as Cassandra loosened her hand from Duke Salvador’s as she sat down. She touched Amy’s face as her tears started flowing. She did not want to leave Amy here.
Duke Salvador took Amy’s lifeless body in his arms, making Cassandra’s eyes widen.
"We cannot leave her here. Let’s give her a proper funeral." Duke Salvador said, making Cassandra cry harder.
