Chapter 130: Mother

Princess Cassandra looked at the Duke and Amy in shock.

Cassandra did not understand where the elements went. Princess Cassandra closed her eyes as she tried to connect with the elements but she could not. Cassandra could only see the crystals with fire and water elements.

Princess Cassandra tried to touch the crystals in hope that the elements would talk with her but nothing happened. Cassandra opened her eyes in shock.

"They are not there." Princess Cassandra whispered as if in shock. Her eyes trembled as Cassandra refused to look up.

"It’s okay, butterfly." Duke Salvador held the fifth Princess in his arms. He could sense that Princess Cassandra was blaming herself now. "It was their decision to tell us."

"But ... But if I didn’t force them then they would still be here to help us." Princess Cassandra’s voice was low as it shivered at the end.

Amy got up as she filled a glass of water and brought it back to the Princess. Duke Salvador murmured "Thank you" and he took the glass from Amy.

Amy stood at the side as she saw the fifth Princess drink the water slowly. Amy could not help but sigh. She knew the fifth Princess the most. Amy could understand what Princess Cassandra might be feeling now.

"Princess." Amy sat down on her knees as she touched the fifth Princess’s hand. She knew that the Duke would not be able to help the Princess feel better. "Look at me, Princess."

Princess Cassandra looked up after listening to Amy’s words. Amy could see the tear droplet forming in her eyes. Amy’s hand on the Princess tightened.

"Princess, it is not your fault. You had your reasons and it was fine. We also needed to know the truth. You need to be a strong Princess. We know now what we are fighting for and who we are fighting with."

Princess Cassandra blinked as if understanding what her lady in waiting was saying.

Amy smiled as her hand loosened, she shifted the Princess’s hand into the Duke as Amy sat on the chair again. "We should start planning now. I heard from the maids that Princess Valeria would be visiting soon. She wants to have a holiday at a colder place."

Princess Cassandra’s eyes widened as she looked at the Duke before she said in a whisper. "Does that mean they have started to act now?"

Duke Salvador’s eyes widened. "You said someone had given the crystals to the first Princess right? Was it the secretary?"

Princess Cassandra and Amy nodded their heads. "Amy saw the man and I heard the words. The secretary was the one involved in everything." Princess Cassandra explained.

Aiden was silent as his aura increased. "But we cannot understand the words of the elements. They said that the secretary was a person from the Vivere Kingdom."

"Yes and so is Lord Bentham," Amy said in a soft tone.

"But should we believe the elements?" Duke Salvador asked in a soft tone. "Their past is always blurry."

Princess Cassandra looked at the Duke before she shook her head. "I believe them. They took the risk of disappearing just to tell us the truth."

"Yes," Amy nodded her head in agreement with the fifth Princess’s words. "I think they were telling the truth."

Duke Salvador looked at the Princess and her lady in waiting. He could feel that the Princess and her lady in waiting strongly believed the elements. Aiden could only sigh as he brought back the more pressing topic. "So we should plan our next move. It is not the time to be emotional."

Princess Cassandra rubbed her eyes as she sat straight looking at the man who continued telling the instructions.

"All we know for now is that Achard Bentham is a dark mage and so is the Elvira Empire’s secretary. They have been planning to wake a witch who had been sleeping for centuries so that their element can engulf all the others." Aiden said before he continued.

"Achard had taken a water crystal so he was believed to be a water mage and now the secretary has given the first Princess the crystals that made her control all the elements and claim the throne. But now she is coming here to wake the witch up."

Princess Cassandra and Amy nodded as the words that the Duke was saying were true.

"Amy," Duke Salvador looked at Amy as he continued. "You find out why the first Princess is coming here? What is it for her to wake the witch up?"

Aiden continued. "I will find out the weakness of the Vivere Kingdom’s people. Find a way for us to go to the Kir mountain and kill this witch without waking her up."

Duke Salvador looked at the fifth Princess. "And butterfly, you," Aiden touched the fifth Princess’s hair as he continued in a soft tone. "You practice controlling the elements and finding the other elements. You still need to absorb earth and air."

Princess Cassandra’s eyes shivered. "Yes," Cassandra nodded. "The elements told me that I would know when I had reached the place."

Duke Salvador smiled before his relaxed gaze turned serious. "We will meet here every evening to inform you of what we have learned and form new strategies. We cannot be relaxed here."

Amy and Princess Cassandra nodded. They knew that what Duke Salvador was telling had to be taken seriously.

"Remember." Duke Salvador said in a low tone. "We cannot trust anyone here."

"You met her again" Lord Bentham walked into the room in anger. "What did you tell her?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Grand Duke narrowed his eyes as he looked at his son with a sarcastic look. "So now you have even started questioning me? Did you forget who you are talking to?"

"Of course not. How can I forget? After all, you are my father." Lord Bentham’s eyes narrowed as he sat down beside his father. "The man who abandoned me when I was a child."

"I did not abandon you, I made you strong. You were on a mission and that made you who you are today, a great dark mage as well as a strong water mage." Grand Duke said as he looked at his son.

"I became the water mage because of the crystals and as for the power, it was Duke Bentham that was generous enough that he decided to adopt me."

"He had to adopt you. Duke Bentham’s family had long formed a deal with us. And you needed to be there so that you could keep an eye on her." The Grand Duke said. "And yet you decided to marry her. A girl who could possibly kill us. Did you forget who she is? What did she do?"

Lord Bentham shook his eyes as his tone turned sharp. "I have not forgotten anything. But I still cannot blame her."

Grand Duke’s eyes turned sharp as he looked at the man sitting in front of him. "Have talked to him."

A maid came in with the alcohol as she placed it on the table. Lord Bentham poured himself as well as his father a glass waiting for the maid to go.

As the maid was about to exit, Lord Bentham’s voice could be heard. "The secretary said that he would bring Princess Valeria under the pretense that only she could find more crystals. As for how we will use her," Lord Bentham took a sip as he continued. "You know it very well father."

The Grand Duke’s eyes narrowed. "But I heard that the fire mage and the third Prince are also coming with her."

Lord Bentham nodded. "Aiden Salvador." Achard took the name of his friend. Although they had turned enemies now, they were still friends once. "He will not care about what happened to the first Princess. He only cared about Cassandra."

"The girl has everyone wrapped around her fingers." Grand Duke laughed as his eyes turned sharp. "It would be heartbreaking to see the innocent fifth Princess that everyone loves die."

Lord Bentham’s body tensed as his actions paused. He looked at his father with wide eyes, not saying a single word.

"Why are you looking at me like this?" The Grand Duke said as if asking the obvious. "All of our generation’s effort can only work when that Princess dies."

The Grand Duke’s voice turned sharp as he bloomed with happiness. "Elvira will absorb every drop of blood from that Princess and gain her power and glory. Our people have been waiting for this for centuries and now that we are so close to actually having it, why is your face so shocked?"

"Elvira should not kill the Princess, she is innocent ..." Lord Bentham murmured but his words were cut by the Grand Duke, whose aura suddenly turned dangerous.

"She is innocent?" the Grand Duke chuckled. "Have you forgotten why we hate her? Have you forgotten how much you have suffered because of her? She had killed your mother, Achard."

Lord Bentham’s face became serious. "If she had killed my mother, we had also killed hers, when she couldn’t even say the word, mother."
