CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 125: Monster

Princess Cassandra walked into the garden with Amy following her.

Her back was steady as she smiled confidently. Although Princess Cassandra executed grace, she was very nervous. If her assumptions were right then the Grand Duke was a man who looked exactly like Lord Bentham.

’Is it the reason why Lord Bentham came to see me?’

Princess Cassandra’s eyes widened. Her assumptions were right, the man standing in front of her was the same she had seen in the throne room when she had visited the King.

’No wonder.’

[Princess.] Amy’s thoughts flowed through Princess Cassandra’s mind. She looked back as she saw the shaking eyes of her lady in waiting.

Princess Cassandra blinked her eyes asking Amy what was wrong.

[The rumors about the Grand Duke are not good. You should be careful. Duke Salvador is not here .]

Princess Cassandra nodded as she looked back straight at the man. As they were coming nearer to him, Cassandra’s heartbeats were getting messier.

Princess Cassandra wished that Duke Salvador was her at this moment. But the Duke was asked to go to the graining ground. Although Cassandra had asked a maid to inform her personal guard about her meeting, Cassandra did not have a lot of expectation that her word would reach Ed.

’They want to keep him away from me.’

’They will send Amy as well.’

’I can feel it in their gaze.’

Princess Cassandra thought as she smiled but her hands were clenched.

[Even if no one is around, we are here.] The voices of the elements said. [You have been practicing how to use us. Don’t worry. We will not let you down.]

Princess Cassandra smiled as she thought. ’I know.’

Princess Cassandra smiled as she stood in front of the Grand Duke. Both of them bowed respectively before sitting down to enjoy the tea.

’This is suffocating.’ Princess Cassandra thought her smile was starting to fall. All the acting was making her facial muscles twitch.

"The King said that the Grand Duke will let me know about my mother." Princess Cassandra said as she smiled. The Grand Duke was looking at her as if he observing her closely.

’Why is he staring at me? Why can’t I read his thoughts.’ Princess Cassandra has the elements but before she could get an answer the Grand Duke’s thoughts flowed in her mind.

[She looks just like her.]

[Truly like her.]

[A true monster.]

Princess Cassandra’s eyes widened at the words. She wanted to reason out but she did not know what the Grand Duke was thinking.

’He called me a monster.’

’Why?’

Although Princess Cassandra knew she could not ask such things openly, her eyes gave her true emotions away.

The Grand Duke clenched his hand as he looked at the lady-in-waiting beside the fifth Princess. "Shouldn’t you go and help the other maids?"

Amy swallowed. The presence of the Duke was very strong for her to ignore. Amy looked at the fifth Princess in fright.

[Princess ..] Amy thought. She did not know how to behave.

Princess Cassandra shifted her body so that she was in between the Grand Duke and Amy. The Grand Duke shifted his eyes on the Princess as he narrowed his gaze.

"The Grand Duke can order his servants if he wishes the work to proceed faster. My lady is waiting here for my safety until my personal guard does not come."

The Grand Duke laughed as he looked at Amy as if judging her. "She can protect you?"

"That is not the point. We are here to discuss about my mother, not about the ability of my lady in waiting."

The Grand Duke laughed but his eyes were serious. "The rumors do not do you justice. You sure talk a lot."

Princess Cassandra smiled as she nodded. "Yes, after all, I am surrounded by so many secrets and rumors that I have to change my personality to survive."

"Isn’t it a way of the weak? You are trying to shield yourself and not trying to fight it back. Your mother was not like this." The Grand Duke complained as he held the teacup in his hand. "She was a dignified and brave lady who knew her strengths. But you destroyed her."

Princess Cassandra was hurt by the Grand Duke’s words but she pretended to be strong. She pulled back her tears as she controlled the tremble in her voice. Cassandra’s hands formed a fist as she laughed wholeheartedly as if the Grand Duke was joking around. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Yes, I am weak." Princess Cassandra said confidently as she got up from the chair looking straight into the Grand Duke’s eyes. "And now I will move away from here because I cannot handle you."

Princess Cassandra smiled as she turned around. "I wanted to know who my mother was, not your comparison of us. Maybe I am weak in your eyes but I feel I am strong enough to have survived for this long in the Elvira Empire without any real family. Maybe I had been weak but that had kept me breathing for a day more."

Princess Cassandra indicated Amy to follow her as she took a few steps forward. "I hope you tell your son to keep a distance from me." Cassandra turned back as she kept looking at the Grand Duke. "I do not like being touched."

"How did you ..." The Grand Duke’s eyes widened as he stood up in shock. His sight showed his true emotions on his face.

"It’s not difficult. Your genes are strong and I am not blind. And I hope the Grand Duke meets me when he is truly ready to talk." With those words, the fifth Princess left the garden.

"Princess ..." Amy said when they had walked a few distances, but her words were stopped when Princess Cassandra shook her head.

Amy swallowed her words but her thoughts could not be controlled. No matter how hard Amy tried, she still failed to do so.

[The Grand Duke is the only one who knows about your mother Princess.]

Although Princess Cassandra listened to those words she still pretended to not hear them. But Cassandra knew that what Amy was telling was the truth. She had to find a way to handle the things.

Princess Cassandra looked around to realize that there were many guards nearby. Cassandra stopped as she looked at one. "Take me to the library." Cassandra’s voice was low but her words held power.

The guard could not go against her words as he followed her instruction. Cassandra smiled but she knew that the first thing the guard would do after dropping her off would inform the Prince and the Princess. It was all in the guards’ thoughts.

Princess Cassandra shook her head as she sighed. There were no expectations that she had now. She knew that she had to find her way here in the enemy country on her own.

’If there is one diary in the Elvira Kingdom. There might be one in the Vivere Kingdom as well.’

Princess Cassandra thought she was walking towards the royal gallery.

"The Elvire Kingdom’s secretary contacted the palace. They want to enter the Kir mountain." A man informed the King who was in deep thoughts.

The King looked to the Prince and the Princess who were at one side and then to the Grand Duke and Lord Bentham who were on the other. "Should we give them permission?"

Grand Duke took a step forward as he said in a dull voice. "There is no reason to stop him if we know the reason why he will be entering."

The Grand Duke looked at his son who nodded his head. "Yes, Princess Valeria is a strong fire mage and she is the right candidate for the curse."

Lord Bentham looked at the man who had given the information as he added. "Isn’t Duke Salvador coming with him?"

The man nodded his head. "The secretary said that even Prince Cedric would join with his guards."

"That is not a small number of people." Prince Carl said in worry. "How can we allow them to enter like this?"

"We cannot do anything. Princess Cassandra had not gained any power yet." Princess Teimei sighed. "Should I take her around? She might be able to sense the pure source and absorb it."

"And how will you do that?" Prince Carl asked as he raised his eyebrows.

"Didn’t your mother ask me to show the fifth Princess our Kingdom? I can ask her under the name of the Empress. She cannot be ignored by the goodwill then." Princess Teimei smiled as she looked at the King.

The King nodded. "Let the secretary know that they can enter but they should be surrounded by our people. I do not trust the Blood of the royal family."

The man nodded his head as he left the room.

Princess Teimei who had enough smiled. "I will take Princess Cassandra out tomorrow."

Prince Carl nodded as he looked at Lord Bentham. "Cousin. Till then let’s find a way to bring her powers back."
