CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 117: Help Me
Princess Valeria smiled as he folded her hand.
"What do you mean by no?" Valeria’s tone was filled with arrogance as she narrowed her eyes. "Are you trying to go against me?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The secretary shook his head in denial as he smiled. "Of course not, Princess. How could I?"
The secretary looked at the first Princess’s eyes as he sighed. "You know that I do not possess any power that I can be proud of but the place where we can get more crystals is something I have read it only in books."
"Book?" Princess Valeria’s voice shook in irritation. Her nose twitched as she asked. "Does that even exist?"
"That we have to find out." The secretary murmured as he looked down at the teacup on the table.
"Are you playing games with me right now?" Princess Valeria asked as her eyes glowed. "Are you giving me hopes of uncertain things?"
"It is not uncertain." The secretary said in a soft tone. "I am very much sure about it."
"On what basis?" Princess Valeria’s tone turn low as if she was being sarcastic., "The content of the book?"
The secretary smiled as he looked at the first Princess. "Do not look down on it Princess. It is not any book that you will find at your palace. It is the book that my ancestors have written. If you can recall, the knowledge in it helped you to absorb the crystal’s power in the first place."
Princess Valeria’s eyes narrowed. She did not reply as she was in deep thoughts.
’It is true that the secretary had helped me a lot.’
’I am able to claim my rights on the throne because I was able to use the crystals.’
’But somehow it does not feel right.’
’I have to know the whole story before I decide.’
’I am losing my powers and I can feel it.’
Princess Valeria looked at the secretary with a determined gaze. "Tell me what that book tells you. I want to know everything before I can make any decision."
The secretary nodded as he smiled. He looked around to make sure that they were the only two on the premises. Even after the secretary made sure that this voice cannot reach the others he talked in a low tone, almost whispering.
"The book was written when the first Emperor came into power but only a few knew that he did not possess all the elements. He was a fire mage but no one knew how he got the power apart from us." The secretary smiled. "But do you know you are not the descendants of the First Emperor himself but his elder brother’s"
Princess Valeria’s eyes widened. She did not know it and the secretary could see it through the expressions on her face.
"There were kings that ruled at the five corners. There were the ones that became the Duke’s of the Empire." The secretary said as he envisioned it before his eyes.
"But we have four Dukes." Princess Valeria said softly. She did not want to interrupt the secretary’s words but yet she could not help herself.
The secretary smiled as if knowing that this question would be coming. "Yes, and the fifth one formed a Kingdom. They have pushed away." The secretary saw the first Princess nodding as he continued. "Anyway, the first Emperor formed a deal that made him the Emperor. All the other Dukes supported him and he formed the Empire. But then something bad happened. No one knows where he went but only his dead body was found."
"And before anyone knew it, the Empire became unrest and the power came down to his nephew. But he too did not possess all the elements but do you know how he managed to claim the throne?"
The first Princess shook her head. She did not know this story. What they were taught was that the First Emperor formed the Empire. He managed to bring all the dukes together but they only supported the Emperor with the words that they will follow till the time the people are benefited. The Dukes were loyal to the people and not the throne.
"he managed to get the throne because of the first Emperor. Because of the deal that was made." The secretary said in a soft tone. "The prophecy was explained to the people by my family. We were the ones who said that one who holds all the four elements will be the savior of this land."
"But all the good things come to an end and now we need to do something to get it back on track, so Princess." The secretary smiled as he leaned forward. "You have to help me."
"Our family found the crystals when they went in search of the first Emperor. We were allowed to take them and continue our legacy till date but now that the crystals are over we can only use the one crystal left with us to find the others."
"And how is that possible?" Princess Valeria asked as she looked at the secretary. She needed the crystals and fast.
"The crystals are linked together with its source, we find the source and we get the crystals."
Princess Valeria’s eyes narrowed. She knew it was not that easy. There was a catch in it that the secretary was taking forever to explain.
Seeing the uneasiness in the first Princess’s tone he smiled. "But the land is covered in snow. We cannot find it unless it is all melted. A strong fire mage is required and there is no one stronger than you."
Princess Valeria smiled but something was still bugging her. "But if this was the case why didn’t you take someone else there before? Someone else who was a strong fire mage."
The secretary looked down as he played with his fingers. He was confused about whether to tell or not.
"Because the place is cursed. The owner of it only allowed the heir to the throne to enter and that too who is a strong fire mage. But as history shows, even if the royal family had fire mages born, they did not survive beyond ten years of age. You are the only one who survived till now, thanks to the Empress."
"So you waited for me? You approached me with the crystal and the throne because you wanted to get your hands on more." Princess Valeria said in an irritated tone. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at the secretary who did not change his emotions.
"Do you remember what I asked you before I agreed to help you?" The secretary asked as he rested his chin on his hand casually. His confidence was increased as he talked with the first Princess as he could see her desperate face.
The secretary knew that the crystal that the first Princess had consumed was a small one compared to what the other Emperor had consumed over the centuries. The power only lasted till the crystals had power. With every use the power in the crystals decreases and because the power does not belong to them the crystal becomes vacant and the people who had consumed the crystals come back to their original state.
"I had asked you to help me. I want your help with this Princess. We will go to the forbidden place. We will find the source."
"And what might that source be?" Princess Valeria asked. "Even if we find it, how will we know that it is the source? Will more crystals be found around it? Do you even know what the source looks like?"
"We didn’t need to know that." The secretary smiled as he continued. "We just have to wake her up and everything will fall back into place."
"Wake her up?" Princess Valeria asked in a questionable tone. "Wake who up?"
"The one who had made the deal with the first Emperor. The one who is powerful enough to kill us all. The one who is the reason why your family line is ruling over the Empire." The secretary’s tone was filled with phrases as he smiled. His eyes were glowing with admiration. "It will be difficult to wake her up but if we are successful in doing that no one can stop us. No one can stop you, Princess."
The secretary’s tone was flowing with happiness. "You can have all of your dreams come true and so can I. You want to marry Duke Salvador, if we succeed then even he cannot go against your wish." The secretary leaned towards the first Princess. "Think carefully Princess. The power to control everything will be in your hands. The power that you are struggling to control will follow your instructions. All the elements will be at your fingertip. So won’t you help me, Princess?"
The secretary sat back straight. "Let’s go and wake her up."
Princess Valeria’s eyes widened as she listened to the secretary’s words. She wanted to have it all. It was what she craved. "But who do we have to wake?"
The secretary smiled as he replied. "Elvira."
