Chapter 115: Fight to Survive

Princess Cassandra closed her eyes.

’Tell me what I need to do.’ Princess Cassandra asked as she focused within.

[Open your eyes and focus at a point.] The voices guided. Their tone was filled with hope as if they were happy to come out.

Princess Cassandra followed the instructions to the point as she focused all of her concentration on the table.

[Now think of an image. Think the way you want us to appear.]

Princess Cassandra narrowed her eyes as she looked towards the table. The only thing that she could imagine was the painting of cats when she walked through the corridors.

As soon as a blue and red cat appeared, Cassandra’s and Amy’s eyes turned soft. The small toy-like pets were seen on the table. Their height was small as they looked like imaginary characters.

Amy almost touched the toy-like cats until they looked at her in rage as their eyes turned sharp.

Amy moved her hand back in fright as she swallowed hard. "Never mind," Amy murmured as she looked at the fifth Princess who, like her, wanted to attack them.

"Don’t even think." The fire cat said as it sat down on the table with its tail resting near its legs.

"Of all the things you could possibly think, this is what you made us?" The water cat moved towards the fifth Princess as it looked up at her.

"Sorry." Princess Cassandra said in a small tone. She looked down in guilt as a small smile appeared on her face.

Even though Cassandra now understood that the elements did not like the form that she had given them, she still wanted to cuddle them.

The water element did not pay any attention to Princess Cassandra’s mind as it moved around and sat to face everyone.

"We want to talk to you all." The water element said in a soft tone as it looked at all the three people sitting there that looked like giants. "We could feel that you all will not harm her. She trusts you so that makes us trust you too."

The fire element nodded its head. "To be honest I will not trust you both but .." It looked at Cassandra and shook its head as if disappointed.

"Anyways." The water element continued. "As you all know that Princess holds unique powers you need to help her to gain the other elements too."

Duke Salvador’s eyes narrowed. He moved forward as he said in a soft tone. "Gain other elements?"

The fire element got excited as its tail started moving up and down. "Just like us, she needs pure energy to absorb other elements."

Aiden looked at the fire element. He could not believe the power he used since young can form a form that could speak. He touched the cat’s head with his finger as the fire cat moved its body up to catch the finger.

"So disappointing." The water element sneered as it looked at the behavior of the fire element.

The fire element stopped doing what it was doing as it sat in at one place.

"Anyway. Getting back on topic." Aiden said as he took back his hand. "You should have told this when we were at the Elvira Empire. We have many strong mages there."

"Trust me, we would have if we could." The water element looked at the fire element. "It is because of him that we can communicate in this form."

Princess Cassandra sighed. "So how are we going to get the pure form?"

"We do not have to look too far." The fire element said. "We are at the very land."

"Huh?" Amy said in question as she looked at the elements.

"You all felt the change in energy here. The feeling of being the most powerful here?" The water element said as it saw everyone nod their eyes.

"Yes, the energy is pure but with danger." The fire element interjected. "You need to search for the purest form and absorb it."

All the eyes turned towards Princess Cassandra who swallowed in doubt. "Me?"

"Of course, you." The water mage said as it looked at Amy. "She is an earth mage?"

Amy was frightened when all the focus shifted towards her. She looked at the fifth Princess and Duke Salvador before nodding her head.

The fire element walked towards Amy as it extended its head towards her. "Yes, she can guide you towards the purest form then."

Princess Cassandra did not understand. She looked at Amy who was equally confused.

"Your senses will increase when you reach it but the way will be the hardest." The water element said. "The royal family ruling the land knows where it is but they will never allow you to have it."

"But they do not have any other option than to take her there?" The fire element looked at the water element with confidence. Everything should be together to eng .."

"Yes." The water element interjected as it enlarged its eyes, before turning back towards the fifth Princess. "They will take you there but make sure to keep your distance. Don’t trust them. Especially the one who you are going to marry."

With this, the water and fire element disappeared in thin air. Princess Casandra did not understand what was happening. She looked around but could not sense anything.

’Where did you go?’ Princess Cassandra thought and soon an answer followed.

[We lost our energy. Once everyone is together we will be the strongest.]

Princess Cassandra did not have to ask what they were talking about anymore. She knew they were talking about the other element.

Princess Cassandra looked up only to see Duke Salvador staring at her. "What?" Princess Cassandra asked as she touched her face nervously.

"They said not to trust Achard." Aiden said in a confident tone. He himself did not trust his once best friend. "You should listen to them."

Princess Cassandra sighed as she looked down. "I know, I could feel it."

"But Princess," Amy said in a soft tone, a little frightened to cut in through the Duke’s words. "You can listen to their thoughts."

"I can but they know it. Their thoughts around me are well thought. It is not unconscious." Princess Cassandra sighed. "But I cannot take my mind out of the maid’s words."

"The maids?" Amy asked as she raised her head.

"They were thinking something unusual. I think Lord Bentham is one of them." Princess Cassandra asked absent-mindedly. "But I am not sure."

No one talked as if everyone was engrossed in their own world. But soon the peace was disturbed as Amy said in a small tone. "Maybe I can help?"

Amy’s eyes moved from Princess Cassandra towards Duke Salvador before she looked down. Her fingers were playing with each other.

"I can talk with the maids. I can be their friend. The gossip and rumors that are spread between servants are more trustworthy."

"No." Princess Cassandra’s tone was filled with confidence. Her eyes turned sharp as she looked at Amy. "It is dangerous. We should stay away from them as much as we can."

"But we are here already, Princess," Amy said as a matter of fact. "I cannot see the Prince or the Princess helping you to understand your powers or to find your mother."

Duke Salvador nodded his head. "I agree. They will never do that. They have not brought you here for this and you know it too. We have to find our own way from here."

"Yes," Amy touched Princess Cassandra’s hand as she smiled at her. "We have survived in the Elvira Empire by this, we can survive in the Vivere Kingdom too."

"Amy, we survived there because the focus was never on us." Princess Cassandra said in a hurry. Her heartbeats started increasing. "They never paid attention to us. But this is different. The Vivere Kingdom’s people are focused on us. Our every move will be observed and reported."

"We’re on a battlefield." Aiden touched Princess Cassandra’s shoulder as he smiled. "But we are not alone. Survival is never easy Princess. We both know that. We have to take risks and push forward to see a new day, in hopes that the new day will bring something good in our lives."

"You do not understand ..." Princess Cassandra tried to explain her fear but Amy took hold of her hand as she interrupted.

"Princess, Duke Salvador is right. We are on a battlefield and we need to fight to survive." Amy smiled as a smile played on her face. "And as your lady is waiting, and your friend let me be a part of it please."

Princess Cassandra looked at Amy and then at Duke Salvador. She knew that she could not win against them.

[Princess, trust me. Let me be of little help to you.]

[I want to protect you too.]

Princess Cassandra listened to Amy’s thoughts as she nodded her head in defeat. "Fine. Tell me what we should do next?"
