Carrying a Jurassic on me-Chapter 1332 - 649 Catching Gamblers_2
Chapter 1332: Chapter 649 Catching Gamblers_2
The town was so small that it only took a few minutes for the police van to arrive. Being the New Year, there weren’t many on duty, just Officer Xu leading Xiang Changqing over.
Yan Fei, seeing that there were not many of them, chuckled, "Come on, let’s all go. I’ll stand at the door and watch the fun!"
"Alright, thanks for supporting our work, Boss Yan!" Time was tight, and Officer Xu didn’t stand on ceremony. He also understood that Yan Fei probably feared that someone might flee. With him standing by the door, there likely wouldn’t be many daring to run—even if they dared, they couldn’t escape!
Yan Fei then turned to Xu Xiaoyan and said, "You hang on to Xiaochao and watch the fun from here! Xiaochao, be good, stay with your sister-in-law and don’t run around. Watch your brother and the police uncles catch the bad guys!"
Xiaochao was extremely excited, pursing lips and nodding vigorously.
When the group reached the door, Xiang Changqing stepped forward to push it, but it wouldn’t budge. It seemed that after Da Gui had come out, someone inside had bolted it again.
Xiang Changqing glanced back at Officer Xu, who paused briefly before quickly pointing to Da Gui, "Let this fellow here help us call for the door to be opened!"
Da Gui quickly stepped back a few steps, his face mournful, pleading, "Boss Yan, they are all local neighbors..."
Seeing Da Gui’s tactless move, Yan Fei really didn’t want to say much—this was a great opportunity for the kid to prove himself, yet he shrank back; truly a helpless case.
Yan Fei stepped forward and pushed the door too. There were a few clicks from behind it, then the door slowly began to tilt backwards, picking up speed until it slammed to the ground with a bang.
The group was stunned, even Yan Fei paused for a moment: "I just wanted to break the latch at the back, how did the door get so flimsy... Don’t just stand there in shock! Hurry up and catch them!"
Xu Changsheng and Xiang Changqing then snapped out of it, stepping over the door and rushing into the yard, "Nobody move, police!" freeweɓnøvel~com
Inside, there was immediate commotion, shouts and jumps, clattering chairs...
Fearing someone might desperately act out, Yan Fei also stepped on the door and shouted, "This is Yan Fei, cooperate, everyone! Don’t try anything foolish, anyone who resists will get their legs broken."
Sure enough, there was a desperate soul; as Yan Fei was speaking, he saw someone at the east side window of the main house, clambering onto a table, head poking out. After Yan Fei finished speaking, seeing that only Yan Fei was standing in the yard, the guy jumped out and charged at him.
Yan Fei was amused, initially thinking the guy would try to scale the wall; instead, he opted for the front door.
The guy was two steps away from Yan Fei when he shifted his body, shoulder first, as if he intended to barrel through if Yan Fei didn’t move aside...
As one might expect, the yard wasn’t small, and the guy had picked up momentum in his charge, so it was just his bad luck—he crashed into the wall just like one might imagine.
Yan Fei didn’t budge, just lowered his head slightly. With two thuds, the guy staggered backward, dazed, and sat down hard on the ground.
The two noises were because his shoulder collided with Yan Fei’s chest, and as Yan Fei lowered his head, their heads bumped—it definitely sounded like that to him.
Yan Fei didn’t bother with him, instead glancing down at the door, realizing that his push hadn’t broken the latch, rather the door itself had given way. Moreover, the door’s threshold was moist from contact with the ground and had rotted, breaking off from there.
Inside, Officer Xu and Xiang Changqing were busily cuffing people with gleaming silver bracelets, their hearts acknowledging Boss Yan’s formidable reputation. Initially, some had thought to escape amidst the chaos, but the moment they heard Yan Fei was outside, they had all drooped their heads.
Several pleaded bitterly, claiming they were just there to watch the game. Officer Xu was not polite, cuffing them too. Truth would prevail back at the station; in the gambling scene claiming to be just watching wouldn’t do—gamblers or watchers could both stake cash, everyone knew that.
After all, they had brought plenty of handcuffs, and Yan Fei had made it clear; this was a gambling den.
In the room, there was an old woman crying and pleading, attempting to pull Xu Changsheng and Xiang Changqing along with her. Xiang Changqing glared at her, "If you pull me, that’s resisting arrest. We’ll have to take you too. Boss Yan is outside waiting, wanting to see how many people we can bring back..."
Da Gui poked his head in from the outside of the main door and quietly pleaded with Yan Fei, "Boss Yan, can I secretly point them out later?"
Yan Fei turned and snapped at him, "You’re such a fool. I just asked you to call out, a great opportunity for you to make merit, and you didn’t. Now you want to secretly point them out? Want me to put a silver bracelet on you too?"
Da Gui was just about to speak when he saw something behind him, raised his hand, and pointed, "He’s running..."
It turned out to be the guy who had earlier bumped into Yan Fei and gotten stunned. Taking advantage of Yan Fei turning his head to talk, he got up and ran towards the courtyard wall, apparently finding the main gate impassable and planning to jump over the wall.
Yan Fei was not in a hurry, he looked back, glanced down, then simply took a few steps, turned around, bent down to grab the wooden door, and threw it—initially wanting to pick up a brick or something, but nothing was there, so he had to make do with the door.
The old wooden door was not very big and was somewhat aged, with its thick edges slightly rotted. Even so, when Yan Fei threw it, Da Gui, who saw it all, was taken aback.
Fortunately, Yan Fei knew his strength, and the wooden door did not fly flat.
The guy had almost reached the wall, getting ready to scale it in one go, when he heard a whoosh behind him, followed by a bang, as the wooden door smacked him and slammed him against the wall.
By the time a string of people filed out of the room with heads drooping, the guy hadn’t crawled out from under the door yet!
Yan Fei wore an innocent face, "I really can’t be blamed for his injuries. Da Gui can testify that he first bumped into me. Later, when he ran, I was afraid I couldn’t catch up, so I slapped him with the wooden door..."
Officer Xu also felt helpless, "No worries, no worries. You were assisting us; it’s not your fault..."
When Xiang Changqing was handcuffing the guy, he touched the fellow’s arm and he started screaming—it served him right, he had used his right arm to charge, and it was the same arm that had been hit by the door, no wonder it hurt so much.
People hadn’t even started loading into the car when Dang Wenzheng rode over on a motorcycle. Shortly after, receiving news, two more came on a motorcycle, and finally, two others hurried over on bicycles.
The Mini-van’s advantage was that it had seven seats. With those caught gambling and Da Gui, who was to act as a witness, there were just enough for one van—but they could only sit in the back, with Xiang Changqing driving, a police officer in the passenger seat, and the rest following on motorcycles and bicycles.
As Xu Changsheng and others were preparing to leave, he called Dang Wenzheng to keep a motorcycle for himself before approaching Yan Fei to discuss.
Yan Fei glanced at Xu Xiaoyan and Yanfei in the distance, and said to Xu Changsheng, "Long story short, I think our station needs to crack down on gambling. It used to be that only people in the town could afford it, not many in the village gambled. Now it seems some families in the village have spare cash and have started gambling just for fun."
Xu Changsheng remained silent for a moment, then nodded, "We do need to crack down on it. There’s not much entertainment in the countryside, and people get bored around the New Year; playing cards and small gambling is not a big deal, but the fear is they play increasingly bigger stakes. It’s better to nip it in the bud than to let it fester."
Yan Fei felt relieved at hearing this, "Then I’ll be leaving now. Call me if you need any cooperation. I have family waiting. I just happened to run into this issue, otherwise we would all have gone to play on the ramparts!"
Xu Changsheng suddenly became anxious, "Don’t rush! I need your cooperation now! We should discuss this protocol..."
Yan Fei waved his hand and ran off, "You guys go discuss it back at the station, everyone there is local, just ask them if you’re unclear. I’m not getting involved with station affairs. If you need vehicles, just have people from my yard come and drive them! I’m off..."
Xu Changsheng was very frustrated, about to hop on the motorcycle and leave, yet felt he couldn’t just let such a big help slip away, so he shouted at him, "I’ll come find you after settling these people. Where are you going to play? Back to the factory?"
