Capturing the Young Doctor's Heart: Mr. Big Shot Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 91: Car Accident
Nowadays, they were living quite frugally, and Sophia Lowe couldn’t even bring herself to buy meat, only cooking a few vegetarian dishes.
The keys to the new house were still on the table.
Stella Sinclair, unable to resist, mentioned, "Mom and Dad, why don’t we move in already? It’s summer, and there’s no air conditioning or even a fan in our room. I can’t focus on studying for my exams at home because it’s too hot."
Sophia Lowe glanced at her husband and suggested, "How about we go check out the house after dinner?"
After the commotion that morning, they were much more subdued, speaking in quieter tones.
Seeing her husband nod, Stella smiled in relief.
Sophia then told her, "When your grandparents come back later, ask them for the full address."
Stella happily agreed, "Okay."
...
After viewing the house in the afternoon, Stella couldn’t wait to move that very day.
Besides, they didn’t have much luggage; with the family’s help, they could move into the new house today.
Upon returning, only Septima Sterling was home, and she brought up the topic of moving.
Septima checked the calendar and reminded them, "It’s not a good day to move. Moving in the next couple of days won’t be too late."
Sophia Lowe scoffed, "Who believes in that stuff anymore?"
Septima didn’t even look at them as she replied indifferently, "Suit yourselves."
Saying that, she took Little Seven with its cage for a walk outside, planning to pick up some groceries to cook dinner.
So, that afternoon,
the whole yard echoed with the sounds of their moving.
Claire Prescott, having a moment to spare, glanced inside and saw them busy with the move, and her heart felt significantly lighter.
So when Keane Lowell came to pick her up, she rushed to him like the wind and embraced him, saying lightly, "Why do you have time to pick me up today?"
Keane held her waist and smiled softly, "You seem to be in a good mood today."
"No longer the one to be picked on."
A raindrop landed on her eyelashes, and she instinctively blinked, "Is it raining?"
Today the sky darkened early; it was only six-thirty, and the sun had already disappeared.
As she looked up, she saw a dense layer of dark clouds covering it.
The tender moment between the two was entirely witnessed by Stella’s family as they were moving their belongings onto the truck.
Stella’s gaze lingered directly on the man’s tall and slender back, judging by his physique, she figured this man shouldn’t look bad.
Money... he seemed to lack none of that either.
Upon noticing the black Maybach parked beside him and the capital A license plate, her pupils dilated, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Her curiosity intensified, wondering what the man looked like and what his identity could be.
However, as he escorted Claire Prescott into the car and turned to look in their direction,
Stella was stunned by his appearance. Her heart trembled when their eyes met, thrown into disarray without realizing it.
After they left,
Stella couldn’t help but ask her parents, "Does cousin have a boyfriend now?"
Sophia Lowe replied coldly, "I don’t know."
But just from those brief few seconds of peeking, the man’s appearance was already etched into her mind. She felt entranced, having never seen such a handsome and charismatic man.
However,
just two minutes later,
with half of their belongings still to be loaded onto the truck, a cold wind suddenly blew through, bringing a shower of rain with it.
Stella’s family hurried to find shelter from the rain, not realizing the clothes and blankets piled on the ground were getting completely soaked until it was too late.
"Why are the clothes and blankets still outside? Quickly, get them into the truck first!" Sophia Lowe shouted anxiously.
The moving truck driver impatiently urged them, "Can you load faster? We’re running out of time."
Thus,
they had no choice.
They could only brave the downpour to load the rest of their belongings into the truck.
...
Outside the car window, the rain poured steadily, reflecting the dazzling city lights.
When Claire Prescott’s gaze returned from outside, she saw the man handing over a long gift box.
She hesitated for a moment, "What’s this?"
"Open it and see."
Claire took it.
As the box opened, a strip of light illuminated within, casting clear light on a delicate and lustrous white magnolia hairpin.
Her eyes immediately lit up, her fingers gently touching the pale yellow stamen, "What a unique hairpin."
"Is this for me?" Claire looked at the man beside her, delighted.
Keane’s thin lips curled into a small smile, "Do you like it?"
"I love it."
Claire couldn’t help but meticulously appreciate the gift.
From the small, pure, and elegant magnolia head to the end of the pin, she carefully felt every part. At the pinhead, she felt Chinese characters engraved on it.
It was her name.
Engraved in an elegant and classical clerical script, the three characters "Claire Prescott."
The engraving unexpectedly triggered a memory.
After returning disappointed from an auction that day, the man had promised her another gift. She hadn’t taken it seriously at the time, not expecting him to truly mean it and actually giving her a gift.
But...
With such exquisite craftsmanship, capturing the intricate texture and spirit of the white magnolia, the designer must be impressive, and creating this hairpin no doubt cost a lot.
On normal days, she wouldn’t dare wear it, afraid of accidentally breaking it.
Thinking it over, she closed the box and gently said to him, "I’ll treat it as a token of love from you, and I’ll only wear it on important occasions—"
Before Claire could finish her sentence, Assistant Cheney suddenly slammed on the brakes, unfortunately colliding with another car.
"President Lowell, Miss Prescott, are you alright?" Assistant Cheney fearfully turned to look back,
"We’re fine."
It was Claire Prescott who answered.
At that moment, the man next to her held her hand tightly, his deep eyes were as unfathomable as the dark night, carrying a touch of anger. The car interior’s atmospheric pressure dropped instantly.
Assistant Cheney, startled, quickly got out of the car to handle the accident.
Claire looked outside through the window, seeing a woman in a black mermaid dress holding an umbrella in the drizzle.
Her face appeared coldly elegant in the night.
The light umbrella seemed precariously close to being destroyed by the wind and rain at any moment.
Claire recognized her; it was Skye Vance, the stage actress known as "The Crimson Lady."
Skye apologized, "Sorry, I just learned to drive and am not familiar with the road yet."
Assistant Cheney replied coldly, "Miss Vance, everything that just happened was recorded on the dashcam. Let’s exchange contact information and go through insurance."
"But..."
She looked at the darkened window, unable to discern the situation inside or whether the people inside were angry, so she shifted her tone, "I want to personally apologize to Mr. Lowell, would that be possible?"
"I’m afraid that’s not convenient."
Skye tightened her grip on the umbrella handle, seemingly unwilling to leave without seeing him, and eventually, she decided to act on her own accord, walking over to the car and tapping on the window, her voice melodious as she called out, "Mr. Lowell."
When the window moved, she still held a glimmer of hope.
But when a refreshingly fair face appeared, she was momentarily stunned, her blood seemingly freezing, as if turned to ice.
