Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 685: Can’t Escape
The atmosphere, that had barely calmed down, once again plunged into chaos as the thugs cried out in panic,
"Ahhhh! The whole building is on fire!"
"Damn it, they’re trying to burn us alive!"
"Police officers, let us go! This is a matter of life and death, we must leave this place now!"
"Prepare to go out!" Li Zhi commanded, his loud voice cutting through the chaos. The flames raged akin to wildfire, and in a blink of an eye, those who stood in the skywalk could feel the scorching heat blasting them on the face. "Three of you, come with me to the upper floor, while the rest evacuate everyone! We haven’t checked the whole building yet!"
He had not forgotten that a few important figures were still missing from the scene, namely the Master Manipulator and his Boss, Luo Xuan. He was certain that the fire was the work of either one of them.
"Quickly go—" Li Zhi moved to enter the east building, but he ended up receiving the shock of his life when he found that someone had snuck up on He Juan and Mu Yuze when he was not paying attention. He had never seen the woman before. Even from afar, Li Zhi could tell that she carried an unusual and unique temperament. She spoke a few words to Mu Yuze, then without a warning, she knocked He Juan unconscious, threw him behind her back and sprinted off, with Mu Yuze following behind her! 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"Damn it, Mu Yuze—!" Li Zhi cried out angrily. "Stop right there! Where do you think you’re going?!"
Li Zhi instinctively gave chase, but the fragile and weathered roof of the skywalk could not withstand the scorching heat of the fire and collapsed, hindering his pursuit. Shrill screams pierced the air from those who were buried beneath, diverting Li Zhi’s attention.
Together with a few officers, Li Zhi swiftly worked to rescue the injured, moving them to safety. When he finally had a moment to survey the scene, He Juan, Mu Yuze, and the mysterious woman had vanished into thin air, leaving a few officers who were supposed to guard the emergency exit unconscious.
"Damn it!" Li Zhi cursed in anger and frustration.

On the upper floor of the east building.
Ku Jin gripped Jia Molei’s throat in a deathly hold, pinning him on a pillar. Both of them bore various bruises and injuries all over their bodies, proving that a fierce fight had just taken place. Around them, black smoke began to seep in as blazing flame arose, surrounding them in a scorching inferno.
Jia Molei was shocked upon discovering the fire. Clutching Ku Jin’s wrist, he burst out in disbelief. "Are you fucking insane? You really plan to burn the whole building down?!"
"Ah," Ku Jin let out a careless laugh. "There’s no need for this building to exist any longer— or so the Boss said. It seems like they couldn’t get to Boss in the end, even though they managed to dismantle the bombs I’ve prepared. Tsk, what a let down."
Fucking bastards! Jia Molei cursed the two of them and their entire line of ancestors inside his mind. He couldn’t help but cough when the smoke intensified. The rain did little to quell the unyielding fire, as he could see the crimson blaze roaring outside the window. Sweat poured out of his skin as the temperature in the air continued to rise, and his heart thudded when the ceiling above them let out a dangerous creak.
Oh no, the building was going to collapse soon!
Jia Molei began to struggle with renewed vigor. "Fucking let go! Do you want to die here?!"
But Ku Jin, the certified madman, sounded delighted by the idea. "Sure, let’s die together here, Molei."
Enraged, Jia Molei exerted strength into his leg and kicked Ku Jin right on the shin, and when the grip around his throat loosened, he wasted no time to roll over to the side. His sharp gaze caught sight of a dagger left by the dying thugs on the floor, and he swiftly lunged for it with the agility and ferocity of a cheetah.
Alas, he was fast, yet Ku Jin remained a beat faster.
The dagger was a hair’s breadth away from Jia Molei’s grasp when Ku Jin kicked it aside. Losing his target, Jia Molei could only roll on the ground to halt his momentum. Once again, the two of them engaged in a fierce struggle, surrounded by falling debris and burning woods.
Jia Molei was both flustered and furious. "If you want to die, then just die alone, you bastard!" He pivoted on his left foot and executed a spinning kick. Ku Jin raised his arm in time to block the attack, but he still staggered backward a few steps.
"How heartless, Molei," he laughed breathlessly, wiping the blood that trickled down his lips. "Haven’t we already promised to be together in life and death?"
Jia Molei roared until his voice cracked. "In your fucking dreams!"
Ku Jin laughed happily upon seeing the familiar rage and hatred in Jia Molei’s eyes. Yes, that’s right. This was so much better than having the man look at him as if he was a stranger. A surge of renewed energy coursed through him, his smile growing wider and wider, which only served to fuel Jia Molei’s fury.
A brilliant idea popped into his mind, and he feigned a mistake amidst the heated battle, leaving an obvious opening for Jia Molei.
Sure enough, Jia Molei, who was eager to end the fight as soon as possible, took the bait and swiftly attacked the exposed weak spot, falling right into Ku Jin’s trap.
"Ugh...!" A mouthful of blood sprayed out of Jia Molei’s mouth when Ku Jin struck him on the chest, almost breaking his ribs. The pain was so intense that his vision blackened for a split second, and the cunning bastard took advantage of that momentary lapse of attention to tackle him, pressing him toward the window!
Up close, the encroaching fire seemed capable of reaching them, and Jia Molei could somehow feel the tips of his hair catching fire.
His body tilted precariously over the sill, eyes widening in horror. "Fuck— let go— let go of me!" He kicked, punched and clawed at Ku Jin, but the man did not budge at all. Panic began to overtake Jia Molei’s mind because he knew that this madman was fully capable of pushing him down!
"Are you sure?" Ku Jin grinned. "Are you sure you want me to let go? If I do, you will fall, Molei~"
As if to prove his point, Ku Jin loosened his hold and Jia Molei felt his body tilting backward, his feet leaving the ground. Breath hitched on his throat, he instinctively clutched onto Ku Jin’s arms to regain his balance.
Fuck, fuck, fuck— he was really on the verge of falling!
"See?" Ku Jin laughed in glee.
Gritting his teeth, Jia Molei glared at him with all the bubbling hatred within him. Oh, how he wished that looks could kill. This way, Ku Jin would have been reduced into a bloody sieve from the sheer intensity of his glares alone. "Just when I thought you couldn’t be more horrible, you managed to prove me wrong again and again."
Ku Jin tilted his head, wondering. "Is that a compliment?"
Jia Molei bristled. "You—!"
Just then, a deafening crash sounded as a portion of the ceiling collapsed, blocking the emergency exit.
Ku Jin let out another gleeful laugh when he witnessed the scene. "Even God is siding with me this time. Do you see it, Molei? Our only way out is blocked. We can no longer escape."
