Cannot Bear To Let Go Of My Rich Wife-Chapter 672 - 690: Even if I Die, I’ll Accompany You (23)
Days in the hospital were quite boring. Although Isabel was taking care of Percy, most of the tasks were done by the nurses. Isabel had already delegated her work at the Smith Corporation, and there were no major issues at the company. Moreover, she took it upon herself to prevent Percy from working, so the two of them were completely idle.
For Isabel, her primary task afterwards was to feed Percy traditional Chinese medicine. She would visit the Department of Traditional Medicine at the hospital and carefully select the best tonics and prescriptions for him.
Although traditional medicine had slow efficacy, it was good for the body and was less irritating compared to Western medicine. However, drinking traditional medicine was quite agonizing. Percy was no exception and didn’t like drinking it, even making a disgusted expression.
Isabel wasn’t angry; instead, she gently coaxed Percy. Percy dreamed of Isabel being nice to him, so how could he resist when she smiled and spoke softly to him? He immediately picked up the medicine bowl and drank the black and bitter medicine without hesitation.
Afterwards, every time he drank traditional medicine, Percy would make an extremely reluctant and disgusted expression. At first, Isabel didn’t realize that Percy was doing it on purpose, and she would patiently coax him each time. Later, after she went to the restroom and returned to the infirmary, she found that a nurse had brought the brewed traditional medicine to Percy, saying, "Mr. Stanton, drink it while it’s hot."
Standing outside the door, Isabel clearly heard Percy’s indifferent voice saying, "Okay, I know, just put it down."
Well, he agreed so readily. So why did he always make a disgusted face and refuse to drink whenever she fed him the medicine herself?
Isabel secretly pursed her lips and stood by the window, peeking into the infirmary. She saw Percy holding the medicine bowl and pretending to drink a few sips. However, when the nurse left, he placed the bowl back on the table.
About two minutes later, the nurse who had left Percy’s infirmary returned, noticing that he had only taken a sip of the traditional medicine. She asked, "Mr. Stanton, the medicine is cold now. Why didn’t you drink it?"
"I forgot," Percy told a blatant lie with his eyes wide open. Then, with a slightly irritated look, he glanced at the door and wondered why Isabel had been gone for so long just to go to the restroom.
He frowned and took out his mobile phone. Then, the phone in Isabel’s pocket started to vibrate.
Isabel quietly took two steps back and hid behind the wall. She answered the phone, hearing Percy’s flat voice: "Isabel, when are you coming back?"
"Soon."
"Okay."
After Percy hung up, Isabel approached the door. Before she entered, she heard Percy’s voice from inside: "Please warm up this medicine and bring it back to me." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Alright, Mr. Stanton."
There was a microwave in the infirmary. About a minute later, the nurse brought the medicine back and placed it on the table next to Percy, saying, "Mr. Stanton, I have other patients to take care of. Please drink this while it’s hot. I’ll come by later."
Percy didn’t respond, just nodding his head. The busy nurse hurriedly left the room, not noticing Isabel in the corridor filled with people.
Only after the nurse entered another infirmary did Isabel push open the door and walk in. She glanced at the steaming medicine bowl on the table and pretended not to know anything. She said to Percy, "Did they bring the medicine? Drink it while it’s hot."
"I think I’m almost recovered," Percy, as always, began making excuses to avoid taking the medicine.
At the bottom of her heart, Isabel faintly understood Percy’s purpose in doing so - it seemed he just wanted her to coax him gently.
