Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 700 - 701: Play with a Little Toy
Chu Ci returned to the hospital.
Madam Chu had already calmed down, but when Chu Changhe saw him, his expression was somewhat complicated.
Chu Ci put down his things, slowly walked over, and sat by the hospital bed. He spoke in a low voice, "I won’t make special trips to see her anymore, and she won’t return to the Chu Family. It’s as though the Chu Family never raised this child."
Lying in bed, Madam Chu listened quietly, tears streaming down her face.
She wanted to say something, but Chu Ci spoke gently, "Mom, take good care of yourself. I’ll pick you up when you’re discharged."
After that, he took his luggage and left the hospital.
Madam Chu continued to lie quietly, tears flowing unstoppably. After a long while, she muttered, "Changhe, have I been too ruthless?"
Chu Changhe wiped her tears for her and forced a bitter smile. "You can’t be blamed for this. How could it be your fault?"
No one was to blame in this matter. If anyone was to blame, it was fate for its cruel jests.
Madam Chu was stunned for a moment, then began to cry uncontrollably. She had gotten what she wished for: her son had left Chu Yan and would no longer pierce her heart. However, she felt as though she had lost her only son. Earlier, she had sensed that Chu Ci was devoid of life.
Unable to do much, Chu Changhe could only stay by her side and let her cry.
Elsewhere, Chu Yan sat curled up on the sofa, looking tiny. The stark white light shining on her face made her appear even more pale and vulnerable.
When her phone rang, she jumped like a frightened animal. The call was from Gu Anxi. Chu Yan answered in a hoarse voice, "Anxi."
"Yan Yan, I’m downstairs," Gu Anxi said gently. "Bring your luggage down."
Disbelief and shock were written all over Chu Yan’s small face. After a moment, she rushed into the master bedroom, haphazardly stuffed a few items of clothing into her suitcase, and sprinted downstairs. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Downstairs, a sports car was parked with its headlights on. Gu Anxi stood beside it.
Chu Yan ran right to her. Gu Anxi caught her and ruffled her hair. "Alright, let’s go."
Once in the car, Chu Yan finally asked softly, "Where are we going?"
Gu Anxi smiled. "A nice place."
The car sped off, driving all the way up the mountain. After her initial surprise, Chu Yan said hesitantly, "It might not be a good idea for me to stay at Si Garden."
Gu Anxi chuckled lightly. "Who said you were staying at Si Garden?"
The car slowly turned onto another narrow road and soon stopped in front of a villa. The night had deepened, but the villa was ablaze with lights. Gu Yuntian had made an exception and stayed up late, with Wang Keru keeping him company. Old Wang, who had stubbornly refused to leave, was also there, his eyes wide with anticipation. He rubbed his hands together excitedly; that little rascal, Gu Anxi, had said she’d bring a "small toy" over, and he was eagerly awaiting it.
Eventually, Gu Anxi’s car pulled into the parking area. She opened her door, then Chu Yan’s, and even gallantly carried Chu Yan’s luggage for her. In fact, the luggage itself hardly mattered—Wang Keru adored shopping. Usually, if she bought too much, she worried about Granny Chen’s disapproval. Now, with someone new around, she could finally go on a proper shopping spree.
As Chu Yan got out of the car, she was surprised that Gu Anxi had brought her to her own home.
Just as Chu Yan hesitated, Gu Anxi said quietly, "Just consider it a favor. My mom is desperate for grandchildren. She’s practically fixated on Shen Congwen’s belly, convinced that once the baby is born, it should belong to her. Zhou Yunchen is so stressed about it he’s losing his hair and adamantly refuses to have children. If you stay, Mom might not be so fixated on grandchildren anymore."
Chu Yan was taken aback. Could that really work?
Just as she was pondering this, Old Wang popped out, looking around. "Anxi, you said you were bringing back a small toy! Where is it? I don’t see it!"
