Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 698 - 699 - Chu Ci, do you want to be with her? (3000 words)
Gu Anxi walked out of the study carrying four boxes, looking quite satisfied.
After a few steps, she realized someone was following her. Turning around, she found it was none other than Old Master Bo.
Upon being discovered, the old man lifted his head, his nostrils flared, and he confronted her, "You’ve been talking behind my back to Nian Yao again, haven’t you?"
Gu Anxi continued her stride, not rushing, purposely allowing the old man to keep up.
No one in the house wanted to see the old man, so he actually followed her. Once they reached the Orchid Room, he couldn’t help poking around, exclaiming over the many fine things and how comfortable that large sofa was.
Heh, Xichen is also learning to enjoy life, thanks to this little devil, Old Master Bo mused as he bounced on it.
Gu Anxi opened one of the boxes, revealing the contents. Old Master Bo’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head at the sight.
He recognized the purple jade pot—it was Nian Yao’s beloved possession that he had coveted for so long. But Nian Yao had never agreed to part with it, yet now, it was in the hands of this little devil. And not just one item, but four.
Old Master Bo felt sick to his stomach. He studied this little devil. She’s just plain and unremarkable, really. Apart from being somewhat pretty and fierce, there’s nothing special about her.
After Gu Anxi neatly placed the items and packed up the boxes, she said, "I’m going out now. Will you stay here?"
Old Master Bo decided to settle in. "You can leave those four pretty little maids to keep me company."
"In your dreams," Gu Anxi chuckled and headed out.
Old Master Bo cast another look at the purple jade vase in the cabinet, unable to suppress his excitement. He quickly got up and followed. "Hey, little devil, are you really going to the Chu Family? They’re dealing with family matters, why are you going to meddle in their affairs?"
Gu Anxi glanced at him. "Chu Ci and Chu Yan are my friends!"
She paused before adding, "That’s something you wouldn’t understand, Old Master Bo. All you care about is power, right?"
Old Master Bo was thoroughly rebuffed. "I’m coming with you."
At home, no one treated him well. His daughter-in-law disliked him, his son and grandson dared not support him, and even the servants looked down on him. Life was hard for him in this house.
Gu Anxi stopped in her tracks, looking at him. "How are you going to help? Can you fight or can you argue?"
After a moment’s thought, Old Master Bo responded, "I can lend some gravitas, can’t I?"
"You’re practically a non-entity in the Bo Family now." The little rascal showed him no respect. She quickened her pace, so Old Master Bo had to jog to keep up, his face flushed. "You little devil! When I was the Bo Family Head, you hadn’t even been born!"
"All the better! If I had been there, I would’ve been embarrassed for you." Gu Anxi opened the car door and got in.
Promptly, Old Master Bo opened the passenger side door and brazenly sat next to her.
Gu Anxi glared at him. "Get out."
"No."
"I drive very fast."
"Still not getting out."
Alright then. Gu Anxi stomped on the gas. Old Master Bo cried out, "I haven’t fastened my seatbelt!"
"Slow down!"
"Heavens, slow down!"
"My old bones!"
「At Si Garden’s front gate.」
Bo Nianyao watched with longing eyes. Just then, Madam Bo appeared, her voice soft and perhaps a little unsteady, "There are four items missing from the study."
Bo Nianyao was startled, turning to her. "Really? My dear, you’re so meticulous."
Madam Bo’s voice was chillingly cold. "Are you going to deny you tried to bribe our little Anxi?"
Bo Nianyao was speechless.
Madam Bo huffed and slowly walked into Si Garden. Bo Nianyao followed obediently behind, ready to lower his head and accept any scoldings.
「Meanwhile, Gu Anxi’s car pulled up at the Chu Family villa.」
When the car stopped, Old Master Bo was dizzy from the abrupt halt and massaged his chest. "Oh dear, I feel like I’ve lost half my life."
Gu Anxi had already jumped out of the car and walked towards the villa. The old man scrambled to follow, rubbing his chest as he walked. This little rascal, so full of energy and always stirring things up. How did someone as gentle and refined as Xichen ever fall for her?
As soon as Gu Anxi stepped into the Chu Family’s home, she immediately noticed the oppressive atmosphere. Mrs. Chu sat weakly on the sofa, Chu Yan by her side, tear tracks clearly visible on her small face.
Upon seeing Gu Anxi, Mrs. Chu offered a wan smile. "Anxi, I know Changhe and I should have listened to you, but Chu Ci is my only son. Can’t I even make a decision on this matter concerning him?"
She looked at Chu Yan beside her and closed her eyes. "While she has lived in the Chu Family, I can honestly say I’ve never treated her unfairly. Back then, Chu Ci even gave up his right to inherit the Family Head position to keep her. Now, he actually tells me he wants to be with Chu Yan..."
Chu Yan was quietly whispering apologies.
Mrs. Chu did not accept them, nor could she accept Chu Yan as her future daughter-in-law. Tears streamed down her face as she let out a bleak laugh. "I’m a fool. The whole world knew they were together, and I was the only one who didn’t know a thing, even though it was happening right under my nose..."
Gu Anxi put a hand on her shoulder, speaking softly, "Auntie, you can’t place all the blame on Chu Yan. Have you considered Chu Ci? Perhaps he can only find happiness with Chu Yan. Or would you rather see him stay single for the rest of his life?"
Mrs. Chu faltered for a moment before speaking softly, "I would rather he stay single forever than accept him being with that woman’s child."
The color suddenly drained from Chu Yan’s face. Her fingers, resting on her lap, tightened suddenly. The sight made Gu Anxi’s heart ache.
She knew how much Chu Yan loved Chu Ci. Chu Yan knew the risks involved and that she might not be accepted, yet she chose to be with him without hesitation. That alone showed how much she loved him. But now, her love seemed to count for nothing...
Mrs. Chu turned her gaze towards Chu Ci. "Tell me, are you still going to be with her?"
Chu Ci crouched down, adopting a humble posture as he looked at his mother. "Mom, I want to be with Chu Yan. We’re already together."
"Get out!" Mrs. Chu snapped, seemingly driven to madness as she picked up an object and threw it at her son.
The sharp object struck Chu Ci, and blood immediately began to flow from his head. Chaos erupted.
Gu Anxi helped dress Chu Ci’s wound. Exhausted, Mrs. Chu was helped upstairs to rest by a servant. Looking up at the upper floor, Gu Anxi gently asked Chu Ci, "What will you do now?"
Chu Ci looked at Chu Yan.
Chu Yan, visibly frightened, shrank back on the sofa, her lips pressed tightly together, not uttering a sound.
Chu Ci remained silent, staring intensely at her as if she might vanish at any moment.
Sighing softly, Gu Anxi comforted Chu Changhe. This incident had clearly been a huge blow to Chu Changhe, and he was in no state to manage many of the family’s affairs. Originally, Gu Anxi had planned to step in, but in the end, she let Chu Ci handle things.
Upon leaving the Chu Family, she got into the car and remained silent.
Old Master Bo, sitting beside her, cleared his throat smugly. "See? Now you know marrying into the Bo Family is your greatest fortune, right? My son and daughter-in-law are so reasonable."
Gu Anxi shot him a look. Aren’t you a non-entity in the Bo Family? What son and daughter-in-law are you talking about?
The old man thought about how he had to constantly watch people’s expressions these days, so he rubbed his nose and said nothing more.
Gu Anxi drove, this time at a leisurely pace, slowly making her way back to Si Garden.
Bo Nianyao and Chu Changhe had known each other for decades. Although not exceptionally close, he still cared, so Gu Anxi told him what happened. Both Bo Nianyao and Madam Bo felt it was a pity—Chu Ci and Chu Yan were such a well-matched pair!
Old Master Bo chimed in, "Our Bo Family wouldn’t object! So, little devil, you can rest assured."
Gu Anxi glanced sideways. "Little Uncle and I are already legally married. How could there be any objections?"
Madam Bo was thrilled again, her face lit up with joy. She went back and found a few more nice things for Anxi. That’s it, really put that old coot in his place! Mama Bo is richer than Papa Bo, so rub it in!
The little rascal dragged the good things back to the Orchid Room. Old Master Bo followed, gazing wistfully. All these wonderful things, they have nothing to do with me anymore!
The little rascal, while putting things away, said, "Don’t come over tonight, okay? Tonight is private time for Little Uncle and me. You’d be a third wheel if you were here."
Old Master Bo said shamelessly, "Um... I’ve already had the servants prepare the guest room next to the Orchid Room. I’ll be staying here. But don’t worry, I’ll be back in my own room after eight p.m. I absolutely won’t disturb you two’s private life."
Gu Anxi glared at him.
Fearing she wouldn’t agree, Old Master Bo quickly added, "I’ve already moved all my things over."
Gu Anxi just said "Oh," then added, "We’re usually very busy after six in the evening."
The old man’s face instantly turned beet red. This... this... Is she even behaving like a young lady? So thick-skinned!
The little rascal glanced at him. "Grandfather, you haven’t been young for a very long time." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
She settled onto the sofa. "Look, this sofa is nice, isn’t it?"
Old Master Bo looked at her, then sat down himself for a moment. Finally, he shot up and hurried out as if his pants were on fire. This little devil!
Just as the old man stepped out, he saw his grandson returning. Dressed in black, with the top two buttons of his shirt undone, he looked rather sexy. The sight immediately brought certain images to the old man’s mind, and his face darkened. "Xichen," he grumbled, "you’re still young. Don’t overindulge in your private life."
Bo Xichen smiled. "Did Anxi upset you again?"
The old man stubbornly denied it. "Not at all! Anyway, just take it easy, young man." With that, he retreated into his own room across the hall.
Bo Xichen had already heard from his father that his grandfather insisted on staying here in the Orchid Room. He’d thought it was just talk but hadn’t expected it to be true.
He walked into the living area of the master bedroom and saw his little rascal carefully examining a treasure. Hearing his footsteps, she called out, "Little Uncle, you’re back?"
Bo Xichen sat down, taking the purple jade pot from her hands, and chuckled. "This is Father’s most cherished possession."
The little rascal immediately threw her arms around him. "Then what about you?"
Bo Xichen looked at her. "Me?"
"Mmm, what’s your most cherished item?" she asked softly, resting her head on his shoulder.
Bo Xichen chuckled and flicked her forehead lightly. "This one."
"That’s not it." The little rascal’s voice became even softer as she leaned close and whispered a few words into his ear.
