Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 592 - 593: Are you really together with him?
Gu Anxi clapped her small hands. "Okay, I’ll go take a look."
Having said that, she looked earnestly at Bo Xichen. "Little Uncle, I’m off!"
She gave him a carefree peck on the cheek, and Bo Xichen received it with equal nonchalance. They were used to it. Even in front of elders, this little one was usually capable of such things.
However, Min Xin’s secretary looked on as if his eyes were being opened to a new world. Where had he ever seen such a display? Acting so clingy the moment they were apart?
Doctor Gu stood up, her hands once again in her pockets. "Fine, go and see."
She walked ahead, and Min Xin’s secretary followed miserably behind. His days hadn’t been easy lately. Especially starting today, it would probably be a hellish storm!
Up ahead, Gu Anxi suddenly halted. The secretary almost bumped into her and quickly stopped.
Gu Anxi asked quietly, "Is your Mr. Min not afraid of pain?"
The secretary forced a smile. "Who isn’t afraid of pain? He’s just gritting his teeth and bearing it." He sighed. Or perhaps it’s because the pain in his heart is worse!
Gu Anxi smiled. "You have to distinguish whether it’s real pain or a man’s pride facing an unprecedented challenge."
Before the secretary could process it, she had already stepped into the elevator. Min Xin’s secretary was also astute. He had offered many placating words, having seen the situation earlier: Doctor Gu clearly called the shots here. Hadn’t Mr. Min already suffered at her hands?
As he spoke so deferentially, Gu Anxi found his words pleasing. "You have a promising future. Why did you choose to follow Min Xin? He has such a bad temper. Life must be tough, right?"
The secretary just smiled.
Gu Anxi said no more and, upon reaching the top floor, went directly into Min Xin’s ward.
The VIP was throwing a tantrum, finding fault with the young nurse—one moment complaining the injection wasn’t done well, the next that something else was unsatisfactory; in short, he was being difficult.
Gu Anxi dismissed the young nurse and personally picked up a syringe to prepare the medication. Min Xin glared at her. "Is Doctor Gu going to do the nurses’ work too?"
Gu Anxi said casually, "Special patients receive special care."
While skillfully administering the injection, she looked into Min Xin’s eyes and said, "I heard you’re not satisfied with the nurse providing your care. How about this: in a little while, I’ll have them insert a urinary catheter, so you won’t have to get up for 24 hours. If that’s not enough, we can make an incision for a feeding tube, and you’ll only have liquid food. That way, you can rest properly."
Min Xin was infuriated. "Gu Anxi, you dare!"
"I thought that was what you needed," Gu Anxi said coolly.
Min Xin gritted his teeth. "I don’t need it!"
"Alright, if you don’t need it, we’ll downgrade your nursing care level," she said, all business. "If you have the energy to pick fights, you surely don’t lack the energy to eat and use the restroom."
The secretary, feeling she was being too harsh, whispered from the side, "Isn’t this too... We can pay the nursing fees."
"This is a hospital, not one of the clubs Mr. Min usually frequents," Gu Anxi said in a low voice. "So, please take care of yourself, Mr. Min."
The secretary, quite anxious, leaned in and whispered, "Doctor Gu, why aren’t you getting the main point?"
Gu Anxi feigned ignorance. "What main point?"
The secretary grew agitated, his voice rising slightly. "It’s about the room opposite."
"Across?" Gu Anxi continued to feign ignorance. "There are no pretty young nurses over there. Sister Zhou is personally taking care of Mr. Wang." She then feigned understanding. "Oh, I see. In that case, let’s have Mr. Min’s family come and take care of him."
The secretary shut his mouth. After all that talk, he had been played by Little Gu. She was doing it deliberately, intentionally twisting the knife in Min Xin’s wound.
Min Xin lay on the hospital bed, looking as if he had lost all will to live. After a long while, he spoke, "Can I see her? Just once. I have something to ask her."
Gu Anxi feigned sudden realization. "So, all this fighting and making such a huge scene was just to meet her? Alright, I’ll go ask my big brother if he minds."
Min Xin looked up, his eyes suddenly red. "King Jingyao is a bastard! He clearly had feelings for you, so why is he involved with Zhou Yu now? It’s unfair to Zhou Yu!"
Gu Anxi laughed lightly. "That’s a heartless thing to say." Her smile turned colder. "Even if my big brother has his eye on someone else, if he’s with Sister Zhou, he would never do anything to wrong her. We’re all adults here; there’s not so much unfairness in the world. It’s simply a matter of whether one is willing or not. Min Xin, if you had been just a little kinder to her, a little fairer, she wouldn’t have wanted to leave you, let alone..." She paused for a moment. "Do you even know her at all?"
He had lived with Zhou Yu for twenty years. Yet, when a child appeared, and Zhou Yu merely moved to King Jingyao’s place, he immediately assumed they were truly together. So, Zhou Yu once loved him so dearly; did he never see all her noble qualities? Is she the kind of woman who would casually get involved with a man? Why didn’t he reflect on his own actions before the divorce?
Min Xin was struck speechless.
Gu Anxi’s expression had already soured, not just for Zhou Yu’s sake, but also for her big brother. She considered her big brother family. When someone treated her so kindly without expecting anything in return, if she didn’t stand up for him, she wouldn’t be worthy of such kindness.
So, Min Xin... you thoroughly deserve this agony!
Gu Anxi did indeed call for Zhou Yu. Though it had only been two days since he last saw her, Min Xin felt Zhou Yu had lost weight. She still looked gentle and beautiful; even in the hospital room, her beauty couldn’t be concealed in the slightest.
The secretary, knowing when to make himself scarce, tactfully withdrew. Gu Anxi had no plans to watch the drama either and went to the other side to see her big brother.
Her big brother was drinking soup, attended by Wang Jingchuan. She went over, took the bowl, and continued to serve her big brother.
King Jingyao was immensely satisfied. "My little cub has become so sensible now!"
As Gu Anxi fed him soup, she made a sound of acknowledgement. "It was my idea for you to fight, so I should take responsibility." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Oh, please," King Jingyao looked at her, then suddenly patted her small head. "You’re upset. Who upset you? I’ll back you up."
"No one," she protested. "Who could bully me!" She held out her hand. "I’m very good at fighting." Then she added, "If you need to fight in the future, just let me substitute for you. Once Min Xin’s injuries heal, you won’t be his match."
King Jingyao smiled. "Then you’re underestimating me."
Gu Anxi sighed softly. "Actually, I was hoping Sister Zhou could take care of you."
But she knew her big brother didn’t harbor such intentions. All these years, Zhou Yu had married someone else... King Jingyao wasn’t a man who dwelled on the past; how could he possibly get together with Zhou Yu?
...
On the other side, Min Xin asked Zhou Yu to close the door to the ward. Zhou Yu hesitated slightly.
He looked at her and forced a bitter smile. "I’m injured like this; what could I possibly do to you? I just want to say a few words." With that, he leaned back against the headboard, his face a mask of pained endurance. The anesthesia had worn off, and the pain was indeed intense; his forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat.
Only then did Zhou Yu close the door. Turning back, she hesitated. "You... why did you fight with Jingyao?"
Min Xin’s gaze was fixed on her. "I want to ask you a few questions now."
Zhou Yu guessed what he wanted to ask and probably understood why they had fought. She said softly, "It’s better if you don’t ask."
Min Xin was in great pain but still struggled to sit up properly. He asked softly, "Are you and he really together? Or is it just loneliness, a casual fling?"
Zhou Yu lowered her head. After a long moment, she whispered, "Yes."
Min Xin’s heart felt as if it were being sliced. He asked again, "Is it serious, or just a temporary diversion?"
"It’s serious," Zhou Yu said quietly. "Jingyao treats me very well. In the future... please don’t cause him trouble anymore."
Min Xin’s throat worked. After a long pause, he murmured, "You’re pregnant, aren’t you?"
