Chapter 50: It came from the Black Zone

Name: Spiny Carapace Crab

Mana core: Green

Rank: Elite

Strength: 175

Constitution: 145

Mana: 169

Speed: 173

Unique Skill: Iron Body.

Rocky brandished his longsword for several seconds before swinging it downward, cutting a Crab’s pincer in half.

The Crab roared in pain and drove its remaining pincer toward Rocky with bloodshot eyes.

Rocky blinked nonstop and delicately dodged the blow. He performed a chain of strikes from simple to complex—dancing rhythmically in the middle of the horde of Crabs.

Rocky brandished his longsword several times to build up enough centrifugal force to shake the blood off the blade.

He took a long breath before gazing at the other monsters coming at him from everywhere.

Indeed, with such a huge number of Crabs, the most effective method was using normal skills.

He wouldn’t use skills like [Chaotic Transformations] due to the fact that it would turn him into an empty vessel without mana. In addition, he was no longer stored food anymore.

Surely, he had never even dreamed he would fall into a real world, where he struggled to fight in an endless cycle with monsters.

It had been 5 hours since he came to this world... how damn...! He had to fight nonstop, just to gain enough points to avoid death.

[300 days – Day 1: 16:20 remaining.]

Currents points: 800 points

800 points—and then his points would be handed over for higher areas, which meant his points would be reduced to 80 afterward. But even so, his current points still weren’t enough to reach 100 before the remaining time ran out.

"Damnation!" Rocky cursed in irritation as his gauntleted hand caught a Crab’s pincer and landed brutal punches, leaving a blood-soaked dent on its carapace.

"Urgh." Rocky suddenly groaned as he was struck from behind by another Crab. He swiftly rolled forward and began to flee.

He sensed that if he continued fighting like that, he could never survive long enough in this area. Anyway, his goal wasn’t to stop at 100 points.

With time left, there was no need to act recklessly just to earn points.

He climbed up a massive rock around 30 meters high to avoid the monsters before disabling his armor.

Glancing down at the base of the rock, he saw the Crabs glaring at him with hateful eyes before scattering in different directions.

He sat down on the ground and clicked his tongue.

"Damn, I miss my beasts."

Truly, if at least one of them were still by his side at this point, he wouldn’t be in such a situation.

"First, I should take a break and find something to eat."

He stood up and leisurely walked along the high rocks on the coastline. At the same time, he carefully observed his surroundings. He didn’t want to fight any monsters anymore.

After experiencing this world a couple of times, he could tell that monsters existed everywhere, even beneath the ground that humans were supposed to consider a good place to rest.

A world of monsters, no more, no less.

Just as he felt helpless about finding something to eat, he heard roars from nearby monsters.

Rocky’s pupils widened for a moment when he saw hundreds—no, thousands—of crabs chasing after a black-haired girl like a tidal wave.

At this rate, they would wipe out the entire coastline, including him.

His face twitched.

"Holy damn. I thought I was the one who drew the most trouble, but it seems there’s another one."

He recognized that girl. She was the black-haired elf he had met in the castle of Hayden Kingdom.

An outcast... but Rocky had no reason to save her right now. Even so, seeing how pitiful she looked stirred something in him.

She rode a gigantic raven, yet what surprised Rocky was that her beast couldn’t fly higher. The raven was only able to rise about two meters above the sandy shore. Sometimes, it had to land on its feet to gain momentum for the next short burst into the air.

To Rocky, the raven was nothing more than a house chicken pretending to be a flying beast.

But in the next moment, he quickly understood why.

The night-dark feathers on its wings were quite sparse. It looked as if someone had ripped them out. Each beat of its wings left a streak of darkness that tore through the air... a common trait of beast spirits.

Rocky forced a smile and turned his back. He slowly walked away.

Sure enough, he wasn’t a hero ready to save just anyone.

(Her beast is quite pitiful. But it’s no surprise. After all, it came from the Black Zone. I’m certain her own race ripped its feathers out.)

"Wait a minute... from the Black Zone? Even with a Calamity-ranked species like my beasts?"

Rocky stood motionless, staring at the raven’s black aura.

"We’re the same... Hm. Fine. I’ll save her first. She might have something interesting I don’t know about."

Rocky nodded to himself before leaping into the air. His body shifted into another form.

He sliced through the air, his talons spreading wide toward the female elf.

At that moment, the elf and her raven stumbled several times across the salty shore. The crabs began to split apart, forming a formation that blocked every possible escape route. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

They all lunged at once, their pincers snapping with enough force to tear their prey into pieces.

The female elf collapsed, hugging her sickly raven in despair. The raven coughed out dark smoke under her tight embrace.

She trembled nonstop as she prayed.

"P-Please... save me... Sylvan Mother."

Out of habit, she began praying to her Mother—the ancient tree of her homeland.

A faith that had carried her through countless harsh days in her own land.

Well, at least in terms of spirit.

Suddenly, she felt a gigantic hand grab her and lift her into the sky. Her pupils widened in shock as she looked down at the crabs, who could only glare at her with hostile eyes, powerless to reach her.

She let out a choked cry, half laughter, half sob.

"M-Mother... You saved me."
