By Seeing Beasts' Training Paths, My Beast Became Invincible-Chapter 30: Simson Stephens
(I didn’t expect that bastard Travis to have a beast with a calamity-species rank.)
Rocky rubbed his chin while thinking about Austin’s previous words.
At this moment, he could tell that there were two great Clans with individuals who possessed such beasts.
The Booth Clan and the Kirk Clan.
He thoroughly understood why Scarlet’s grandfather wanted her to marry Travis.
A political marriage between two great Clans would shake the world — it meant the two Clans would cooperate.
They might become an organization powerful enough to dominate the world. With that, Scarlet might not have to hide her beast’s true rank anymore.
She could show her real power anywhere she wanted.
But he believed Scarlet disliked it — the fate of a pawn serving the Clan.
Suddenly, a disgusting scent stirred his nose when Scarlet stepped into the castle. His head almost went numb from the smell.
It was something he had never smelled before. Yet when he glanced around, Scarlet didn’t show any unusual reaction like he did.
It was strange.
Almost everyone here seemed fine, even their beasts. If so, why did that disgusting scent still cling to his nose?
He thought of one thing: his current body was a beast from the black zone, which meant he might possess an ability like them.
It was unfortunate that he couldn’t bring his own beasts here to check the situation. He kept blinking as he observed the castle.
The disgusting scent came from the deepest part of the castle. His instincts flared, urging him to spy on that place at once, but he forced himself to stay calm.
(Just calm down. I’ll check it when the chance comes.)
Rocky jumped onto the banquet table for the beasts, and several of them growled, directing their hostile eyes toward him.
Rocky frowned.
(Discrimination is everywhere. Even when I’m a beast... how ironic.)
He growled as well, and the other beasts trembled — some even passed out.
"My beast?" a man frowned and rushed to his beast in panic.
A woman scowled.
"What’s going on? Is the food poisoned?"
Rocky clicked his tongue and quickly ran toward Scarlet. He didn’t want to cause trouble for her.
"Seems like you’re causing trouble," Scarlet said with a faint smile.
Meanwhile, Rocky just meowed in powerlessness.
From a distance, Travis headed toward Scarlet. He smirked.
"Greetings, my fiancée."
But the next moment, he instantly frowned when he saw the black cat on Scarlet’s shoulder.
"A black cat?"
A dark aura seeped from the cat, making Travis frown in discomfort. His eyes filled with pure contempt and disgust as he stared at it — to him, the cat was nothing more than a filthy fly living off scraps, now perched on a premium cake.
Unconsciously, his hand reached toward the cat, intending to crush it to death, but Scarlet quickly grabbed his hand.
The skin on her hand swiftly hardened, covering itself in dragon scales as she tightened her grip, making Travis groan in pain.
Travis released his power and narrowly escaped from Scarlet’s hold. He gazed at her in fright when he sensed her true power — as if he were standing before an ancient beast, and he was nothing but the lowest creature in the food chain.
He should have died at that moment, but he knew she had restrained herself, stopping short of taking the next step.
Scarlet shot him a look full of disdain as she stepped past him.
"Next time, I won’t be so nice."
Travis’s face froze, then twisted in rage. Veins bulged across his forehead.
Pure humiliation. He had felt it again.
"It’s all his fault. He’s corrupted her. That dirty worm doesn’t deserve to stand by her. The one who should stand by her is me."
Rocky sat on Scarlet’s shoulder, letting out a dull meow.
(How unlucky... she saved him.)
He had really wanted to use Matt’s second form to grind that hand to pieces. Just imagining that bastard screaming in agony as Rocky devoured it was enough to make him smile.
At some point during the banquet, a middle-aged man in formal wear stood at the highest part of the hall.
The face seemed innocent, with narrow-lidded eyes, but Rocky understood that behind it were layers upon layers of calculation.
"Greetings to everyone who took the time to come here. It is a great honor for me, on behalf of the Stephen Clan, to announce to the world — we have returned."
The hall filled with applause.
Meanwhile, Rocky just stared at that bastard with hatred and subtly concealed murderous intent.
He was the leader of the branch of the Clan — the one who stood first on the list of people Rocky wanted to kill most.
(Traitor...Simson Stephens)
Simson smiled.
"Let’s make yourselves at home."
Just like that, the banquet officially began.
Scarlet lazily took a sip of wine while talking to Rocky, even though he couldn’t respond in the body of a cat.
At that moment, Rocky learned something more interesting about Scarlet.
She really seemed to love talking.
Some male nobles tried to invite Scarlet to dance, but she refused them delicately.
"Wanna step out onto the balcony?"
Rocky just let out a long breath and nodded lazily when a sharp slapping sound suddenly caught his attention.
"YOU OLD BITCH! HOW DARE YOU DIRTY MY PRECIOUS OUTFIT?" Ross, Jeff’s big brother, roared in anger.
He sent another brutal slap at the old woman, causing her to fall backward helplessly.
The nobles began to notice the old woman, dressed in ragged clothes, groaning in powerlessness. Countless wrinkles were clearly carved into her face. Her long white hair fell down to her legs, stained with dirt.
She struggled to stand up with her bony hands, but it was hard for her. It took her nearly two minutes to get back on her feet.
Jeff’s face twisted in discomfort as he shouted,
"Come on, old bitch. Get over here and wash the dirt off my brother’s pant leg."
The old woman, her hair disheveled, slowly approached Ross, taking a handkerchief and carefully brushing the dirt away.
Shawn, Joe, and Cuthbert quickly gave a polite explanation to the nobles.
"She’s just a cleaner who violated the forbidden rules of our clan. So everyone in the clan hates her. Hope you all understand."
One of the nobles nodded in understanding.
"I see..."
Just like that, the nobles went back to their business, ignoring Jeff and Ross as they barked at the old woman.
(Sister?)
Rocky’s face twisted in disbelief. He tried to deny what he was seeing, but those colored eyes and that familiar face belonged to his big sister.
